With oversaturated the analog horror genre has started to feel as of recently, we definitely do need more satirical videos like these to be put out there.
Honestly, my favorite out of these kinds is Gilbert Garfield. I mean, yeah, it's an obvious joke yet people take it seriously sometimes? The whole thing starts with a parody of Marble Hornets before it turns out that the whole setup is a shitty cartoon involving Garfield being voiced by a bad clone of Gilbert Gottfried before it goes even further off the rails.

unfortunately sacri, the creator of the happy star videos has discontinued the series cause of people over theorizing it and maybe people harassing her for answers to the arg, also OBS is cancelled alongside it

I have a hard time with analog horror due to my derealization disorder and paranoia. Introducing humor actually makes it easier for me to enjoy! It's cool that I get to enjoy a medium I actually find really interesting!
I’m actually really glad Happy Star got mentioned here! That specific analog humor series is VERY deeply rooted in the OSC (Object Show Community) [Started with Battle for Dream island, a VERY old webseries, but blew up] I appreciate you looking at it since the OSC itself is pretty small even with it’s popularity. There’s other videos on Sacri’s channel that FEATURE Happy Star, but since the ARG itself was cancelled none of them are connected to it lol
The main takeaway I have here is this: Horror and Humor are inescapably intertwined. They work on similar formulas, similar tropes, and both have deep roots in campy aesthetics and queer culture. Setup, expectation, payoff. Setup, expectation, punchline. It makes complete sense that the two would fuse so often, and honestly I'm surprised comedy and analog horror haven't been done together more prominently outside of shitposts.
Why is queer culture specifically intertwined with these two? Did it play a major role in these genres history I am unaware of? I know the OG vampire was a lesbian but idk about humor comparatively.
@@derpfluidvariant0916 Alot of modern stand-up comedy and "so bad its good" comedy has deep roots in drag. Alot of things that are just unabashedly bad for the fun of it are very, very queer. As someone kind of familiar with object shows when it was at its peak, theres just a trend a lot of people want to follow of making the perfect show/series like inanimate insanity and others like it have done. They all have similar premises but seems random as far as which gets popular. I feel like happy star reflects that specific feeling artists/content creators felt trying to express themselves via obj shows then just separating themselves from the community because honestly its so god awful like be real
I hold both analog horror parodies and regular analog horrors to my heart. Analog horror is what made me realise that horror doesn't just have to be a complation of jumpscares, but it can be a build up to a scare that never happens, or a complex ARG that you and a community can get buried into. The satirical side of analog horror can show that even when parodying something, you can still make amazing art. You don't need to steal the ideas of your favorite analog horror and hide it, embrace it while showing your funny side. Sometimes a satire analog horror can be as wonderfully entertaining as a real attempt. It's also interesting when an analog horror satire transforms into a real analog horror, breaking out of it's shell to become it's own thing. Great video man :)
Happy Star seems like the inept version of that cat from the June Archive, steal a bunch of characters but doesn't really know what they're doing most of the time.
