Right handsome group of hotrod sixguns.👍 And as an old school gunsmith, I completely agree with you on the Pietta being a quality single action. Uberti builds some pretty weapons, but they can't match the superior mechanics of Pietta. I'm currently on the hunt for a used Pietta SAA in 45Colt to build into a racegun for Andrew, of St. Andrew TV. Haven't found a " donor" as of yet, but I'm patient. 😏
@@witmoreluke Yup! He's a good guy. And he's only got that Colt Buffalo Bill commemorative and a Uberti Cattleman II. But no racegun for fast and furious shooting. And that Uberti has lots of mileage on it. So being an old man that has tons of time on his hands, I figured he needed one. It will be my contribution to the channel. Now to find a Pietta in need of some TLC, and I'll do the rest. 😉
I have the Pietta Pistolero in .357 mag. However, I only shoot light cowboy loads in the gun. I use a recipe I got from several cowboy actions shooters. I had a local leather smith make a holster for it and he did a beautiful job. No hollywood drop, cartridge loops, black and made of bison. The holster is not stitched to the back but rather laced. Also has a leather hammer loop, On the inside he stamped a 2nd amendment logo. Gun shoots right on point of aim, and has a beautiful trigger. Thinking of buying another and adding a cross draw rig to the holster.

On the two that you don't know the makers, look under the barrel and I'll bet you'll find that they are Ubertis. I am in agreement with you about Piettas. After using Ubertis since 1974 and doing action work on them since 1978, I have switched to Piettas, also. Although they have some cosmetic inaccuracies, their actions are superb! Enjoy you sharing your knowledge!
I looked at a Pietta single action in 38/357 for my kids to shoot in cowboy action. Nice to know that the Piettas are a quality product. I was on the fence because I just don’t know that much about them having not been looking at the market. My Vaqueros are the old full frame in 44mag so they are a bit of a handful for younger hands even when downloaded to ~800fps which is about as low as I can get them. Thank you for sharing!
Love it, thanks for sharing! I have 2 New Ruger Vaqueros that were Race Action smithed by Bob Munden. The pride of my collection. I also have a Cimarron Evil Roy .45 LC, but it was action tuned by Cimarron's smiths, and no offense to them but their tuning is more basic. Too bad Bob isn't around to do any tuning anymore, but I hear Jeff is top notch as well.
Good video, loved all the info on each piece. I recently found a great deal on a Pietta/Heritage .45 Colt and I am impressed with the quality. The timing on it is superb! Not gonna remove the firing pin, but I am also nowhere NEAR the level of shooter you are 😂. Thanks for the video. You are absolutely amazing.
Great question. First of all it's highly unlikely that you could do it at all fast. I don't know of anyone being able to do a fast triple shot with a real full size SAA, stock. A couple of guys have done it with single action 22s, a Ruger Single Six and a Heritage Rough Rider! (believe it or not). Those stock 22 took damage right away. With a full size SAA like mine even aggressive single stroke fans are likely to not lock up. The gun will skip chambers. It will also immediately start to get damaged. The locking notches will get chipped on the high side. It will quickly get worse until the cylinder and possibly the bolt are destroyed.
Very cool video Tuco. And a wicked collection at that. I loved how you took the time to explain the journey and history of them and how they came to be in your collection at what time…absolutely awesome as usual
After watching your videos I was really with your pietta and I picked the gunfighter 1873 great western 2, and the internals out of the box are incredible the action in particular is soooooo smooth. Nice collection , I own a gw2 , the shootist model in 45. It's a great gun. I have two cimarrons that I do alot of hunting with one in 44 special that I shot a deer with yesterday, and the other in 32wcf that goes rabbit and woodchuck hunting. I enjoy your videos , keep them coming.
Awesome collection of shooters! Im loving my Pietta 1873 GW2 in .38/.357 with a 9mm cylinder on the way next on the list for me is a Nickel-plated Pietta Gunfighter in .45 Colt
Nice to see the whole collection. Planning on a gw2 being my first purchase as soon as I turn 21 soon (bs state law). Would love to eventually make a race gun and have been spending hours online trying to find info on making one. Any resources or tips you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Love what you do and keep up the great vids.
I'm so lucky to still have my 3rd gen Colt SAA .45colt one of the very last revolvers that Mr. Munden customized in 2011 and I got it back from Becky who was going through tough times of losing Bob in 2012 and that gun shoots phenomenally well !!! Maybe someday after I retire I'll put up for auction on one of those high end online auction sights and get me some nice supplemental retirement funds for it but then I might too regret it if I do for they are hard to come by since his passing and it'll continue to go up in value anyway !!! It's a shooter no doubt but also a safe queen no less !!! It's a fully functioning race gun !!!
Been thinking about sending my Ruger Vaquero to Jeff, the guy who took over Bob Munden's gun smithing to get it smoothed down. Don't know if I want it to be a race gun,but maybe a Pieta down the road would be fun.
You'd be surprised how smooth ruger vaqueros can be with just a hammer spring change. I've had a couple of mine worked over but if you want to slick up your gun on the cheap, a 15 dollar set of springs goes a long way

I reached out to Bob in the early 2000's about me sending some of my Italian clones for him to work on. By that time he refused and told me "Only Colt or Ruger! The steel on the imports is just not good enough". At that time I couldn't afford a Colts or Ruger's, Looking back I should have did what ever it took to just buy one of his. I'll bet they will continue to be rare and go up in value. I'll take a closer look at the Piettas now.
I learned a long time ago when I first started in the Gunsmithing business you learn on your own firearms. When I wanted to work on 1911s I traded a rifle for a "Colt" Ser 70( biggest POS I ever worked on, I recommend to my customers to buy the best Rock Island you can get and let me work it over) and used it as my test mule to learn hot to do trigger jobs and flat tops and sight work and how to tighten a frame and slide and groove the slide on the mill etc. Same with rifles, I own about 1. of every brand made and learned how to modify and make them all better and if i have one come in missing something or it's not working correctly I can look at mine and reverse engineer the problem. It was smart for you to do the same, I can't tell you how many triggers i have seen ruined by some rube with a dremel tool. Dremel was invented in 1935 and people have been mis-using them on firearms ever since, I see it every day (back away from the dremel Bubba). By the way I never use a dremel on any trigger. Thanks for the show and tell Tuco.
I won a 5 1/2 inch Cimmaron .45lc in a quick draw contest at the Great Western Show in Fort Worth, Texas around 2007. They had an electronic laser draw kit in a SAA, and the contest was to pick it up off the table after the buzz, and "fire" at 6 milk jugs that would jump upon the "hit". I won the gun with a 1.9 second pickup, and 6 hits. I gave it to my buddy who was getting married around that time. Another buddy of mine made me a holster, and gave me a 4 3/4 inch Uberti in 45lc that is incredibly nice.
Yeah he mostly worked on Colts and Rugers is what he told me over the phone in 2011 before I shipped my 3rd gen Colt SAA .45colt to him for a race gun setup like his and very sad to get the news and gun back from his wife Becky of the passing of Bob in late 2011 and I got the gun back in early 2012 and what a shooter it is out to 15 yards it's like I can't miss with it !!!
Nice guns! I've seen those octagonal barrel guns that are called "El Malo" and am thinking about a 7 1/2" barrel version. I've had to deal with Cimarron over a wonky 1851 Richards Mason Navy conversion 38 special. It is made by Uberti.
Great video thank you. Being complete novice to single action firearms I was not sure which one to buy and took a chance on a Pietta glad I did after watching your video. The only thing I replaced was the cylinder pin because it was a pain in the neck getting it to lock back in again. 👍🏻
Thanks TUCO for sharing! You’re inspiring me to look into purchasing a gun. I use to shoot expert in the military. But if I ever decide to shoot again, I’ll probably need a 5 story barn as a target. But then, I probably will need to stand 3 feet away to hit it! 😊 keep up the good work! I’m vicariously living through you! Oraah!
Could you do a video speaking on the changes that a race gun would have from a normal 1873 SAA? I've always been curious about what makes a race gun dependable. Thanks
I know it isn't really your go to kind of content, but I always thought you'd be great at showing of a few modern double action revolvers , proving the fan still be practical in 2023, maybe with some tips/ tricks on how to handle them effectively, quickly and safely .
Amazing informational video I had a heritage rough rider with a 5 1/2 inch barrel with the lr and mag cylinder and I used to practice fast drawing and got pretty good at it then I lost it in pawn back in 2016 and I even had an amazing Western belt with a custom holster for it now I regret pawning it
I like watching your videos, I’ve been thinking about buying a western style revolver, starting with a 22 cal and maybe a 357 or 45 cal, plus you’re very informative about do’s and don’t, very cool bro I’ll keep watching, thanks for responding back bro 😎
I’m sure someone else has said it but looking up Alchimista on EMF Companies website they list a DLX Alchimista III with octagonal barrel, wider setback trigger, lower wider hammer and a 1860 army grip frame. And it’s got that type of etching on it as well. Looking into getting a revolver so this helps a lot. Thanks for the great vid.
I bought a Taylor &co uberti made “smoke wagon” about 4 years back. It’s been a great gun, but yeah I once I’d the ejection rod tube and everything fly down range at an indoor gun range. That was a pain in the butt. Now I always keep some blue loctite on it. Not ideal but that’s my only issue with it so far. May try some pietta guns in the future
The second you picked up the last gun, I recognized Bob Munden's hammer style! Cool!!!! Bob was my inspiration Besides my name SHANE. If you have the speed to swat a fly on a table with your bare hand, you can do quick draw!!!
Im a big fan of your videos i found me a pietta 1873 in 45lc with 4.75 inch barrel i want to get it so i can do a race gun build in it but dont know any gunsmiths here in PHX AZ to do it for me but i cant wait to get it tomorrow i love all your revolvers you have
Pietta does make one of their Gunfighter models with an octagonal barrel, and Cimarron has the El Malo which has the same barrel. I would guess your second newest gun is the octagonal barrel Gunfighter.
Very interesting history with show & tell. I used to shoot SAA's plus 1800's leaver action rifle clones as well as an original 1875 45/70 springfield black powder rifle. But that was a while back. All gone now. The laws in UK have made it inhibitive to own firearms in a keep at home safe.
I own a Beretta Stampede 45 long made by Uberti for Beretta in 2005. Got over 15000 rounds through it and its as good as the day I first fired it. I now only shoot target loads because the recoil got to be more than I liked. I heard the quality of Colt clones varies a great deal. I really would not know which brand to buy today.
I think that last gun you talked about from Mitchell Arms might be an Armi San Marco! I had a 73 Colt .45 SA from Mitchell years ago and that's who made it! The ejector rod and screw went flying off one time on me also!
Thankyou for this video. I have enjoyed all that I have seen. I got my first SA when I was in my late teens. My first one was a Ruger .22 and I still have it. I also have a .357 Ruger and a Uberti ,45 Colt. Have you ever had a gun cryogenic treated?
I picked up a single action intercontinental arms Armi jaeger Dakota in .45 colt from a pawnshop a few years back. Seems like a quality pistol, I guess Bob Munden would use the same model on occasion. Really don’t know much about them though!

You are welcome.😃 Nice to hear that you are inspired by my videos. And, thank you for your service Sir!👍
@@TUCOtheratt thanks TUCO! Be safe out there! SF
Bro!!!!! I finally got myself a pietta Great Western to 2. Thanks so much dude thank you!!! You freaking rock!❤🙌
Rock on! Pietta GW2 is the best!
@@TUCOtheratt Thank you 🙏
Could you do a video speaking on the changes that a race gun would have from a normal 1873 SAA? I've always been curious about what makes a race gun dependable.
Thanks
YT limits much of that information but you can watch my How A SAA Race Gun Works Video Thanks.
Beautiful collection of pistols
Great information you did all the hard work for us already now just practice and learn to shoot like you.
Just wondering if the Ruger Vaquero would be a choice for building a race gun. What’s your opinion of them.
I know it isn't really your go to kind of content, but I always thought you'd be great at showing of a few modern double action revolvers , proving the fan still be practical in 2023, maybe with some tips/ tricks on how to handle them effectively, quickly and safely .
That's a great idea. I'd have to buy my first double action revolver.😃
Thank you brother ,this was great nice handguns
Fine video. Nice guns, great information. Thank you.
Amazing informational video I had a heritage rough rider with a 5 1/2 inch barrel with the lr and mag cylinder and I used to practice fast drawing and got pretty good at it then I lost it in pawn back in 2016 and I even had an amazing Western belt with a custom holster for it now I regret pawning it
Beautiful collection I've seen Bob shoot many times RIP 🙏
Revolvers are so beautiful.
I like watching your videos, I’ve been thinking about buying a western style revolver, starting with a 22 cal and maybe a 357 or 45 cal, plus you’re very informative about do’s and don’t, very cool bro I’ll keep watching, thanks for responding back bro 😎
Right on! Thanks for watching and the nice comment. 😃
You're gonna make me do it man! You're gonna do it! I'll have no choice but to go buy a SAA eventually. Lol Thanks Tuco. Really enjoy your content
That's awesome. 😃👍
I bought a Pietta "gunfighter" 1873 clone a few years ago. It in .45 Colt. Nickel finished with white plastic grips. It's pretty nice.
Right on! Pietta Great Western 2 is my favorite
I believe the second gun you featured is a Davidson special Gunfighter. I just bought the exact same gun.
Love your videos. Keep them coming.
Thank you! Will do!
Im a big fan of your videos i found me a pietta 1873 in 45lc with 4.75 inch barrel i want to get it so i can do a race gun build in it but dont know any gunsmiths here in PHX AZ to do it for me but i cant wait to get it tomorrow i love all your revolvers you have
Thank ya kindly! You'd enjoy my Rumble. :)
@@TUCOtheratt Your welcome I got alot of good Info out of it an all about SA revovlers what make a good race gun
@@CobraP1989 I start with Pietta GW2.
Those Ubertis…ugh…my uberti fell apart in the woods…that really sucked..excellent video as usual…thanks for sharing.
Sorry to hear that. Thanks for watching!
The best of cowboy ❤
Thanks for the video
And thank you for your humble spirit, I appreciate a fellow lover of guns who isn't all about the hipe
Happy Thanksgiving Tuco!
Thank you! Happy Thanksgiving, my friend. 😃
Pietta does make one of their Gunfighter models with an octagonal barrel, and Cimarron has the El Malo which has the same barrel. I would guess your second newest gun is the octagonal barrel Gunfighter.
Could be.
Beautiful tools / collection !!
Thanks 👍
Great video. I've learned quite a bit from your videos. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
I have a Cimarron and it is made by pietta. Great gun.
Thanks for sharing knowledge!
Thanks ...great collection.
Another great video amigo! Thanks for sharing and have a Happy Thanksgiving! 😎
Thanks, you too.
Very nice collection.
I made that exact hat band for my vintage San Antonio black felt cowboy hat
I think that last gun you talked about from Mitchell Arms might be an Armi San Marco! I had a 73 Colt .45 SA from Mitchell years ago and that's who made it! The ejector rod and screw went flying off one time on me also!
Was Armi San Marco an Italian company?
Thankyou for this video. I have enjoyed all that I have seen. I got my first SA when I was in my late teens. My first one was a Ruger .22 and I still have it. I also have a .357 Ruger and a Uberti ,45 Colt. Have you ever had a gun cryogenic treated?
I picked up a single action intercontinental arms Armi jaeger Dakota in .45 colt from a pawnshop a few years back. Seems like a quality pistol, I guess Bob Munden would use the same model on occasion. Really don’t know much about them though!
