Im a 48 yrs old rock musician from the Philippines..been listening to Petra since High School..have listen to a lot of progressive rock stuffs but as i listen to Petra again now i know I'll never lost respect to this band..their level of musicality and showmanship is just a different level of excellence...thank you and God bless you Petra.
Bob Hartman is probably the most under-appreciated song writer/musicians of the 80's/early 90's regardless of music genre. His guitar riffs are second to none.
Amen!!! He is such a strong Christian and he is PRO-LIFE!!! He and the rest of the band fasted so that God would anoint them, God really DID anoint them!!! Petra is probably one of the BEST bands and Christian bands out there TO DATE!!!
I thoroughly agree but that’s just how Bob wanted it. He preferred to stay in the background as much as possible (although it’s hard to hide when you’re that good at playing, composing, writing, co-producing & ministry). Bob just wants to get his real rewards later.
# Petra was a milestone for the gospel music world, this band is still today a reference of Rock Style Gospel in the world shows how Christ uses objective tools to reach all sections of people is eternal Kingdom. This shows that while some religious criticize others work for young people and all come to the knowledge of the truth. In 1991, God had taken my beloved father, servant of God, however 12 years did not understand why this happened, I went into a very large revolt with everything and even with God, but my cousin Leandro Araújo Maia was an instrument of God to show me and present this band. My cousin knowing that I played guitar and enjoyed the Rock Style Gospel of quality, did not know that the Holy Spirit was using it right now! Then Petra, my focus became music, style and arrangement, there began to emerge from the uprising and began to play everything that was Petra! # Do not despise the way of how God uses everything for the salvation of men: All, all styles are to him and praise his name! Meet at the Lord all the glory and praise!

Reading the album sleeve lyrics, with the bible verses quoted under each song, as a 14 year old, and seeing the beyond belief tour in Stockholm Globe Arena had a big part of sealing me for life and afterlife in the holy spirit. These guys have done a tremendous work in God. Here we are 32 years later. I can still sing along each word and mean it.
Truly inspirational worshipers I love Petra so much💖I heard my first Petra album when I was 14 that year I gave my life to Christ thier songs gave me so much confidence in my faith 💖I'd listen to them on the bus before every track and cross country race it pumped me up😄even during my races I'd hear "Adonai and Beyond Belief" in my head😊 I ran my best for Jesus👆💜 In 2007 that same year I was awarded Most Inspirational Fall Female athlete from my school district, All honor and glory to God👏 This race of faith is worth running for Him💜💖💜God bless y'all!
Thank you for a nostalgic moment on YT🤗Petra forever in our hearts❤️ praise The Lord for all the seeds of The Word, sowed ⏳The harvest is ripe, well done, forerunners of todays aposteles in music!!🙌
Man that setlist, wish I could've been here. Saw them (for the first time) in Helsinki back in 1994 during the Wake-Up Call World Tour. And again in 2001 and then the last time in 2004. In 2004 the band I was in was the opening act, huge honor.
Now this is Classic Petra---Volx started them up the hill to success but this line up took them over the top.The so-called classic Petra is just an older version of Petra.
I agree 10,000%!!!!!!! I saw them the year after(1987), John Schlitt took over on Lead Vocals. Then I saw them in 1988. I haven't been able to see them since then. But, I have every single CD, starting with John's first year(1986, 'Back To The Street'). Petra in all its' lineups, is a wondrous gift from God!!!!
Saw them in Kaiserslautern, Germany on Saturday, February 23rd, 1991. It was an indoor concert. I was 14 at the time, and it was my first Petra concert. I'd been enjoying and learning their songs since the summer of 1990. The show was supposed to start at 8, but the doors didn't open until 8:20 pm. My youth group and I were directly underneath the lights. We were close enough to the stage to get several high fives from John Lawry and Ronny Cates. There was no opening act, and they had a woman translator. The concert in this video was almost identical to the one I'd gone to. They even opened up with the same first two songs, and wore pretty much the same clothes. "Hit You Where You Live" was awesome. Bob even told the same story about the man and his preacher. When they did "All Fired Up", some guy ran across the stage, and was chased by a security guard. It was a great show. Thank you so very much for uploading this. Although I was not at *this* particular concert, it was almost identical to what they did when I saw them. It is interesting and fascinating to "re-experience" it through (now) 40 year old eyes and ears.
the woman who translated that show was my mom. my dad was the lighting director for petra during this time. saw your comment last night and made me smile. glad you enjoyed the show!
The quality may not be the greatest but I still thoroughly enjoyed this!!! John Schlitt has a ridiculously wide range to his voice and Bob Hartman is killing it on that guitar! Louis Weaver, John Lawry and the bass player (can't remember his name at the moment) are all so full of amazing God given talent!! Beautiful ministry

This is such an awesome video. Thank you for posting. I didn't start out with Petra until the Unseen power days, and I was twelve at the time. But it's nice that there is a video like this to where I can watch the Dream Team back in their heyday.
Wish that I could have been at this show as it was on my birthday and in my state too. I must have not known about it or could afford it or had no transportation. That would have been an amazing birthday present though. My fave band of all time. :)
This is beautiful... I saw Petra on the "unseen power" tour when I was 12 or 13, and this video is the best thing to reliving that show. Thanks for uploading this timeless video!
I got to see them nearly every year from 86-92, My church used to go to Creation North East and Kingdombond just about every year so we got to see them sometimes twice a year plus I got to see them in Binghamton, NY for the On Fire Tour, and Unseen Tour (front row!) Love this line. this is Petra to Me. Got to see Classic Petra tour second row in Rochester too. Those were some thrilling nights. wish they would have brought this line up back for their 40th anniversary.
I have seen them so many times. Memphis, Nashville several times-indoors and outdoors, Birmingham several times. Jackson, MS. Here in my town at MIssissippi State University (Josh McDowell was there with Petra). And several others I can’t remember. I recall at one time at a concert when John Schlitt was wearing braces. Who else remembers that? :) So many great memories. Helped afterward with the ministry after the concert several times with people making decisions. Their concerts were not only entertaining but very convicting of the gospel and living right. The Holy Spirit was definitely moving.
26:12 > "Creed", Mr. John Schlitt (at his "Shake" tour in Salem, OR) read my testimony & sang this song for me!!! BEST Night of my Life So Far!!! :) !!!
I was in concert with them in Kentucky unseen power and in Bristol TN they are awesome love these guys men of God very Godly I'm 72 years young and still loving their music and songs starting listening to them back in the early 80s
I grew up listening to beyond belief and some other early 90's albums from them. So good. I was born in 83...do the math. I'm sad I never got to see them live. Now I have been running live sound for all sorts of bands for 20+ years and I would have loved to have them come through one of the P.A's I have set up!!! These guys are legitimately good live!!
This concert reminds me of the time I went to same petra tour it was in Virginia and it kick. This here brings back great memories. Thanks petra for the great memories
This is definitely when Petra was at its peak. This was the best musician line up of the band. It went down hill from here. I think this is when they should of dissolved and left it a legacy.
+Patrick Rushton - Many people came to Christ well beyond this line-up through Petra's ministry so I would say that made it worth them sticking around after this era. I would agree however that this line-up is Petra's best instrumentally but Grex X Volz and Mark Kelly provided the best vocal line-up. Ron Cates rocks on Bass and added a new dimension but was not in Mark Kelly's league vocally.
+tyler austin I would agree, because they continued to serve, they brought many to Christ. I just meant musically they were not as exciting. If they stuck to there sound and tried not to change to the current sound they would still be good. I mean if Journey and Styx can still be popular in there own right, I think Christian bands might do it.
Hi, I've been following the channel for some time now, I noticed that some videos have the automatic subtitles feature and others don't, this feature makes it easier for those who don't speak their language and we can put them in automatic subtitles mode and then automatic translation and accepting the language of the our country and UA-cam's artificial intelligence does the magic :) so I would like to suggest that you could use this feature in all your videos. Add common and descriptive captions With subtitles and closed captions, you can share your videos with a wider audience, including viewers who are deaf or have hearing loss and users who speak another language. Learn more about editing and removing subtitles. Create common and descriptive captions Log in to UA-cam Studio. In the left menu, select Subtitles. Click on the content you want to edit. Click ADD LANGUAGE and select the language. Under subtitles, click ADD
Shlitt has such a mastery of pacing and voice control. He could have been a fantastic lead singer for any band, secular or otherwise, I"m glad he chose PETRA.
Ken Havens Ken,, I'm sorry but John didn't choose to sing for Petra, but God chose Him B4 the Foundation of the World,,, even unto Salvation... Also the LOST were NOT CHOSEN by God B4 the World Began.... Here's a little Bible study..... +Ken Havens You're so right. I saw Petra in concert once, and Schlitt doesn't take the wimpy way out when it comes to singing, either. He goes full out...
I think you are overstating your case friend :) The thought is appreciated nonetheless. He had a fine voice and I'm quite sure before PETRA he sang for other rock bands, not all of which were oriented lyrics that revolved around biblical teachings.
Alguien tendrá el video completo o algún fragmento de concierto en Guatemala, C.A. El concierto fue el 15/08/2001 en Tikal Futura. Les agradecería mucho si los subieran por aqui.... Dios les recompense!
I hope they can stop the buzzing on some of their verbal stuff. Have loved Petra since I found them in the 70s. I'm 71 now still love them. BEST CHRISTIAN BAND EVER!!!
Concerts just aren't this epic anymore. Back then, the headlining band would easily play anywhere between 90 minutes to 2 hours, regardless of how many bands played just before them the same night. Nowadays, if more than 1 band opens for the headliner, the primary band plays for about 75 minutes, and then leaves the stage. Pretty lame if you ask me.

You’re right. I saw them once in 2024 with my teenage son. What a blessing for both of us.
That Ronnie Cates.. clean picked bass.. the best band..

@@Calbenmike Hi, Calbenmike . Tim here. Agree. Love the tone. Saw them on this tour in Worcester.👍🙂
7 months after I was born and I'm 26 now Still I listen to Petra ever day Love em
Oh that bass playing! Just so fantastic. So many years later and I'm still fangirling like it's the early 90s.

Sucks being 24 years old and never having the opportunity to see this lineup/era live
It's passed 3 a.m. on a Saturday morning, and I'm watching this Petra concert!
I love how they always sound as good as the recording when playing live.
man, don't worry for the quality, this concert was in 1991, today we know about that. The quality don't care, the sound is loud and clear
Schlitt's voice was so much better here than when he was with Head East. It's held up really well to this day.
Thanks PETRA, thru rock music you delivered GOD's message.
I love how Bob Hartman plays all the guitar parts, no second guitarists, this is back when all you needed was only one guitarist.
Cause there the keyboard player so he's pretty layered

Does any footage exist of the Unseen Power Tour? I thought that was the peak of their concerts!
