Scott Hall just seems like the embodiment of cool. A guy you wanna hang out with and hear all the crazy stories about the business. What a great wrestler and person in general.
I used to work out at the same gym as him. I thought it was older like 19 or 20 but I was more like 17 years old. This is before razor Ramon and he was quiet but friendly and respectful to me and remember him spotting me on bench.
I've always wondered why he was never The AWA World Heavyweight Champion? They were building him up for a Major Title Run! I can only imagine The Matches he would have had in Japan as The AWA World Heavyweight Champion at All Japan Pro Wrestling Shows. He clearly had The Presence, The Size, The Skill Set The Work Ethic.
@@JuliusC1973 I remember another shoot interview with Scott Hall where he said something a little different. Scott said that he was offered a spot in the NWA (or was it WCW?). He gave Verne his notice, and Verne countered with the offer of the AWA belt. Scott said he would be making more money jobbing in the NWA than as the AWA champ.

Love these Hall interviews. Much like the Greg Valentine shoots, it's refreshing to hear guys talk about the business with no bitterness and putting guys over instead of burying them
I love what Scott said about if a guy is good enough to beat you don't kick out on the three, lay there and sell it. I always felt that made moments. Kick outs on three just killed the atmosphere of them beating you.
I remember watching "Big Scott Hall" in the AWA,... he was so much bigger than everyone else at the time. lol. Sounds like a really cool guy; so sad how he took such a turn for the worse.
Curt "when you put a guy over, put him REALLY over, don't kick out at 3, lay there for 20 seconds" Hulk at Starrcade 97: "Putting untanned Sting over clean doesn't work for me brother"
great segment. very cool hearing scott's perspective on verne, hennig and zbyszko... you don't often hear how verne was with the boys outside of Greg Gagne's very bias opinion
I'm watching the segments of this interveiw back to back and there's one constant I see across all of them, Scott Hall really got the creative entertainment part about the art of wrestling. It's a true pleasure to listen to him talk about craft as well as about life in general. Thanks for sharing those interviews.
Man, when I was a 18 and 19 years old kid he was still Big Scott Hall. He was quite at the gym and I never saw this big personality. When he came out with Razor Ramon I was blown away by his chops. I was no huge wrestling fan, but loved his shtick. I am telling you even though he was suppose to be a bad guy I always saw him as a fan favorite. Not because I met him and he spotted me and just nice to me. His character was my favorite by FAR….

Thursday, August 22,1985 ( AWA) Winnipeg Manitoba Canada: Winnipeg Arena: Scott Hall (of CSW ) battled Larry Zbyszko to a Time Limit Draw draw.
Did Scott Hall ever say anything bad about anyone? I said before that I met him one time at Gordon Solie's funeral and he was so cool with my son who was 8 at the time. He still talks about it. When I was coaching high school wrestling and he was with WCW all the kids on the team were huge fans of his.

Remember what you or others have thought about him. How vocal the negativity. Reconsider all that. And then apply that to so much else. Maybe all the commentators out there who skew your ideas on people and things are absolutely wrong.
My take on Verne is that Vern was still a Pro Wrestler when Sports Entertainment was taking over. Its a shame because I like watching the Wrestling side of things. I've watched some old matches where I had to watch close to tell they were working and not actually Wrestling. An example of that is an old Dick the bruiser vs Vern Gagne match. And alot of the old Lou Thez videos.
Imagine all the talent WCW held down that didn't get a chance with Vince I remember Kevin Nash being Vinny Vegas mean Mark callus becoming the legendary undertaker Kevin becoming Diesel Scott becoming Razor stunning Steve becoming Stone cold Paul becoming HHH All of them not even mid card talent with WCW to being the top guys in the WWE All becoming hall of famers I know Vince couldn't save them all or help them all but I'd say they were plenty that could have been stars in the WWE that wasn't nobody in WCW they just wouldn't give anyone a chance there
One thing i can say about the older guys is theres a reverance of respect of the business and a willingness to constantly improve despite being at the top of the card. A lot of modern guys SHOULD do this and do not
I think Scott screwed up by turning down the AWA World Heavyweight belt, he did have a successful career, he also blew all his money like Ric Flair, but he was never World Heavyweight Champ. Very few people carry that title, Larry Zbyszko carries that title as did Curt Hennig.
