Great review, I own a 3400 South West, great pack. I am also purchasing the Daybreak for day trips. There are lighter bags on the market however, the stitching and seam and build quality do not seam to be as good. I am happy to take the slight weight penalty in order to gain the durability.
Interesting that they chose a water-resistant zip vs waterproof around the bag being that the laptop compartment is unprotected. Should I also worry that water could seep into the front compartment as it's elasticated? Would be nice if you could cinch it and water bottle pockets. Also, how do u feel about this bag as a lightweight bag to throw into a heavier pack to use once arriving at a destination?
Is it practical to use a hydration pack with this as you mention. That is one of the things I am noticing about these ultralight bags is that they aren't really making them to accomodate hydration bladders.
At the moment, it's been okay for me at the front. I've worked out a way to navigate the tube so it doesn't become cumbersome. I definitely would've preferred a dedicated sleeve closer to the back. But functionally I'm not having any major issues. Hope that helps - Ed
@@RushfasterTV Thank you! I liked your review of the previous year's version and I would like to see how the new pack will stand against Rushfaster's beer capacity test. 😂
@@Kian-ly6xz yes it is, I’ve had shoulder straps break on 3. 2 recons and one surge. Also know a couple people that had same thing happen. Even the new models are worse.

I have a Southwest 2400 from HMG, been considering the Daybreak as a day hike bag.
Excellent bag! Daybreak has been awesome for day hikes so far - Ed
How can I attach the trekking poles to this day pack?
Great reviews. How does this material feel to the touch?

Beautiful backpack but it’s a little too crunchy sounding. 🤫
It looks like it'd fit a 15 inch laptop if you don't put it in the orange dedicated sleeve - what do you think?
Great review. I own both products and they are well worth the money.
Super cool. Thank you. - Prikee
You could easily fit more beer in there
Put a packing cube in there!

Think it would work for overnight with tent and all?
I can fit a flat tarp, bivy, sleep pad, 40 degree quilt, stove, food etc etc. Hope this helps.
Still prefer Zpacks though. The annoying part with Dyneema is that they can be a bit noisy.
Agreed, does tend to have a bit of a crinkle and pop to them. But nonetheless solid backpack. - Ed
164cm tall, which size should be suitable for me? size small?
Backpacking sizing isn't based on your height. It's based on your torso length. Could be very different!
Is Rushfaster stocking Hyperlite?
Not yet sorry.
