- Joe and Des take us through their home county of Kerry. Kerry has lots of famous places as well as less known spots. Church Island is the first stop followed by a famous seafood restaurant called Smugglers. Ballinskellig Beach is the next port of call followed by Valentia Island.
Beautiful. My ancestors here in Ontario Canada came from County Kerry ,O’Briens.
my ancestors (Kerrymen) left these beaches 300 years ago, and serving the Spanish Crown left for the Philippines and finally ended in southern South America... greetings from wild, wet, windy and wonderful western Patagonia
I'm from Dublin and have been all over the world (just about) but my weekend in Kerry was truly the BEST of my life,it's so beautiful and the people are beyond friendly.. I'm not going to bother travelling anywhere else from now on !!!

The Lynch and Coles were from Mayo but that side goes way back to the 1700's when they made their way to the USA.

My ancestors are all from Ireland and I was born and raised in Newfoundland. My cousins in the outports have the same accent you guys have. One day I hope to come to Ireland for a wonderful vacation.
gives me deja-vu of being in South Chile. Less mountainous though but the vista of lakes and sea without a doubt.
Good stuff lads!
Love this ........
If yer bloodline is from Kerry and ya cannot smell the sea on the breeze, yer soul shrivels a wee bit every day.

Im American, and i grew up in upstate NY, but my grandparents were in Massachusetts and had a cottage on the beach in Cap Cod. I grew up spending the weeks around my birthday obsessively on the beach, gathering clams, mussels, crabs, even lobster at the nearby rocky points. I found out through DNA research, that my grandparents Irish ancestors, were almost all from Kerry. when i looked up images of Kerry i saw the vistas of low tide sandbars and rocky points, and i was shocked. I grew up on accident , living in a way near identical to my ancestor.
The funny part is.. id already been to Ireland, TWICE at that. Id toured the whole country, and gone back to spend months with friends id made as an (18 yo) teenager. But it dawned on me, that we had only briefly driven through Kerry at one point. Now i know and am planning a return visit, to find where my bloodlines lay.
Ryan, what a great idea! Some of our Genealogy guru on our Community might be able to help you trace back your Kerry ancestors. Don't hesitate to check Brian's tips here and ask for help. bit.ly/2r6M8eM

I've just realized another reason Ireland is named the Emerald Isle is because you make people like me green with envy that I wasn't born Irish!!
Not that the lobster platter is a typical lunch, nice though
Well done.
Great video series but Discover Ireland really needs to get these on Digital with quality film.
