I saw a lot of comments about wanting English Subs. I tried to translate for anyone who needs it. So far, I got to five minutes because they're talking so much lol but I'll finish it.
Female Interviewer asked: So when we think of the word "Dilwale" we think of DDLJ but now what's going to be the "special touch" in this movie that the audiences will remember for the next twenty years?
SRK: First off, thank you for my vest, it's a little loose, I was given the interviewer's size (joking), but I'll have it tightened. We're fortunate to have been a part of DDLJ, none of us could have even anticipated that it would end up being the longest running film in India's history, we just thought it would be a sweet movie. The first thought when you think of "Dilwale" goes to DDLJ but there was also a movie by Ajay (Kajol's husband) that had the title Dilwale. So we thought, let's keep the title in the family (Kajol laughs). So, DDLJ was ours and Dilwale was ours so that's how we decided that if we're doing a love story, that is inherently “dilwale” (lover/loving) film but is also a unique, different style. It's not a young, teenage romance movie but it's an intense movie set in a more different setting. But it's a very beautiful story, that the hearts of the two main characters want to meet and to not be separated. And that's the story, that these two lovers somehow should reunite. It's a family friendly movie, since Rohit (the director) made it there's going to be things for kids with cars flipping, music playing, and definitely comedy. (English excerpt). We can't hope that this Dilwale movie is the same as the previous one but we've put in effort so that this movie will be very beautiful and that when this movie is released on the 18th of December that families during happy times can have a little more happiness added to their lives.
Interviewer: Both of y'alls chemistry is so spectacular that people are always anticipating when are SRK and Kajol going to come back together and now that you're back--
Kajol: I think people say we have chemistry because we don't do films together. We do a movie every five years.
Interviewer: But those five years have people waiting and expecting that you guys will blow it out of the water. Anyways, we've seen the clips of Gerua and it was done in harsh, hard conditions. Tell us, how did you manage to do that with the cold conditions that we know of in the setting. And you're soaked also.
Kajol: It was honestly really cold there.
SRK: Really cold
Kajol: We did a shooting in front of the waterfall and behind the waterfall and the one behind the waterfall, there were people coming out with these thick, thick jackets and before we went inside the waterfall, we just looked at each other and were like,
“We're screwed.”
SRK: Actually, the other problem was that there was a shallow lake and the waterfall, our shoes had gotten soaked so it made it colder. The icebergs were definitely freezing and it was cold, in addition to being colder with being soaked. We added different touches to the song(s), there was a Yash Chopra style, a Karan Johar style, an Aditya Chopra style and that's how people know us. It was clear to Rohit that “I'm going to do a song in that style too” [romantic and sweet with sheer and amazing backdrops] because he'd never done it before and he wanted to do a song that emulates what SRK/Kajol are famous for. We thought of many different locations and finally settled on Iceland which was beautiful, extremely honestly beautiful. I would say to everyone that all people watching, in Gujarat and everywhere else, that they go. It's freezing, but gorgeous.
Interviewer: If we were to talk about “Gerua”, you shot it in five days and before that Rohit did a lot of homework, he went before you guys to check out the location. Tell us about that.
SRK: Rohit is very protective of us in any case and loves us a lot so if there's anything going on, if there's even the slightest trouble, he goes to check it out first. He has his own direction style that is whatever he makes the actors do, he tries it out himself first and checks it out, specifically action scenes. Because the song shootings were in places with narrow areas, the cliff/mountain was very narrow, so we have safety harnesses on our feet in the songs. If you were to fall...
Kajol: You can't see it but we had harnesses/ropes tied around us, around our stomachs. We were standing with harnesses, it was a very small passageway.
SRK: Rohit went first and checked it out, he checked out the iceberg. At one point the iceberg was going to turn and if the iceberg turns, then it would be a very scary accident. But Rohit went first and checked it out, he's very protective, ensuring that nothing happens. And that's all okay, but the best part was that all the dupattas (scarves) flying in the songs were flown by Rohit. He's such a huge action director that he flew scarves even.
Kajol: He was so protective he helped fly the scarves.
SRK: He was flying scarves from behind. (throwing scarves to fly in the air)
Interviewer: A plane that had crashed, there's an interesting story behind that too?
Kajol: It wasn't us that discovered it but..
SRK: We didn't put it there, it was already there.
Kajol: I think it was WW2, a pilot had to do a force landing, and the force landing fortunately saved all the lives. There was no ghost or anything (laugh), no one passed away there.
Interviewer: We heard that Kajol will be doing some action, too. Your look even in the poster is tough, it looks like you have a weapon in your hand. So is there something in the movie like that, too?
SRK: Yeah she hits, she beats up Johnny Lever a lot
Interviewer: Ajay is already “Action Jackson” and now you're an action girl too.
SRK: There's one shot in this movie that while she was doing it, we were all thinking only Ajay has otherwise done a scene like this. But it was amazing, when she comes in the scene it feels like she's going to do some kind of Ajay-like action. So he has a lot of competition now.
Kajol: I've actually taught Ajay well.
SRK: Ajay's going to see the scene and then learn from her.
Interviewer: If we were to look at your schedule (to SRK), it's a very tight schedule. You have so many shootings in so many different locations. How do you manage time, how does your team do it?
Kajol: I want an answer to this question, too.
Interviewer: Everyone wants to know this. You look at this mvie, it has SRK and Kajol, it's already going to be a super hit, there's no doubt about that. People are going to come just to see the two of you and in addition there's Rohit Shetty. There's going to be romance and action and comedy on top of that so we can imagine there's going to be a blast but how do you do it (to SRK)? Where does the strength come from?
SRK: Actually, I like to work. And I'm spoiled, I'm not going to lie, truthfully I don't always show up on time and organize things. When I show up, that's when things begin (joking). I finish the work always, I never leave work undone. If I make people wait, like I made you wait I'm sorry, then I'll definitely leave after finishing the work even if the sun sets and rises. I have a strong belief that if you're working with someone, you should complete what you're doing. I'm always going here and there, there's always a rush, the other day I went to Edinburgh and then came back and did a shoot and so I'm always on the run. But I have a passion for work. And that's why I don't get tired. And if I get tired, then I close my eyes for five minutes and think no, no, I'll finish this in two minutes, I'll finish it quickly. It's never two minutes. My family asks, people ask, “When are you going to take a break?” I say, “Just once this finishes”, I've been saying this for 25 years, “Just once this finishes, I'll take a break, just once this finishes.” But I'm blessed in that I get work and I think as long as I get work, I should be grateful and continue to do it.
Interviewer: Both of you have done six movies together and you have your seventh one coming. So, the gap that was there of five years, did either one of you ever think that you would do a movie together again?
Kajol: Actually, in “My Name is Khan” we were also musing that “This could be our last film together”, this and that, “Shahrukh, this is our last film together.” Cut to, today where we're doing Dilwale again (laugh).So yes, we think in every movie that it's our last movie together and we don't know if we'll do it again or not. So we don't know, this might be our last picture.
SRK: We don't know because we don't plan anything. Because Kajol's thoughts are that the role should be good. She doesn't work for the sake of work. The role must be good, there should be good people involved, friends involves. She's always worked like that. So even if we try--
Kajol: Shahrukh has to say yes, I have to say yes, for both of us to say yes to something...
SRK: There have been times in the past where we heard movie scripts separately and chose not to do them for different reasons. But for a movie to come along that we both agree too...we've created characters between us and a movie should have something that makes those characters shine, or it should have something special in the movie because not only do people expect it from us, but we expect it from ourselves. She chooses to work less, she's done good, beautiful movies so there's no point in doing a movie at the spur of the moment and spoiling what's been created. So we didn't know after “Khan” but Rohit, when he wrote the movie, had already decided that Kajol would star in it. Because the story is written around Kajol's character and he was keen that she agree to do it. We thought it would be even more fitting to name it Dilwale if she agrees. When we narrated it to her, she obviously has kids and other commitments, but she liked the story a lot. We were very glad she said yes
Interviewer: Talking about kids, you two are both parents and spend so much time out of the house, you must think of the kids often. How is the household handled, how do things happen, we've heard especially Ajay Devgn supported you a lot?
Kajol: Definitely. He's supported me completely. I asked him before starting the movie, “I'm going to be out all the time, how is that going to work?” But he said, “No, you should definitely do the movie and don't worry about the kids. I'll take care of everything.” It was so sweet.
Interviewer: How does AbRam handle being away from you?
SRK: He doesn't stay away, he (uses formal, respectful term as a joke) comes. Wherever I am, my kids come. AbRam for sure comes. He likes being around people. Aryan, Suhana were a bit shy when they were younger but AbRam is outgoing and...
Kajol: AbRam came twice, I think.
SRK: Yeah, he came twice. Everyone gives him a lot of love, Kajol, Rohit, all the people on the set. And he loves everyone too. He just plays all day.
Interviewer: Doesn't AbRam mesh with you very well? (To Kajol)
Kajol: AbRam? Yeah, we're very chummy. Shut up (to SRK)
SRK: He's a little scared of her (joking). She hugs him tight and he loves her out of fear.
Interviewer: Whenever you two appear on screen, there's a differentt ype of chemsitry. It sort of feels like a fresh Baazigar or KKKG chemistry, like it's your first film together. This kind of chemistry, friendship, comfort level, do you think there could be another onscreen couple like this in the future of Bollywood?
SRK: We can't say, really. We didn't even know we would have such great films together. That's all really due to the writers, directors, producers. They thought of us like that. But having said that, I think our special charm is that neither one of us is special. We talk about very common, average things and don't think about much else when we're doing movies. People nowadays are always making plans, “Oh, we'll do this and that, and then in the next film this will happen”, we've never thought like that. We've always been content with doing a good movie together. If she has some discomfort, I handle it or if I have some trouble with a sequence, then she leads me through it so there's a lot of ease between us. So I think that's why people relate to our characters. We don't have “larger than life” characters. We're very normal and that's what people like.
Interviewer: Shahrukh, there's one thing you've done that's broken the hearts of audiences. Whenever there's talk about the chemistry between you and Kajol, in every movie in every scene previously we've seen romance and love love love everywhere. But this time, in Dilwale, there's a dialogue you say, “Meera, don't show your face again lest I take your life.” (Kajol laughs loudly) That's heartbreaking, for sure.
SRK: There are actually a lot of romantic scenes in the movie, we just haven't shown it because there's so much in the movie that we didn't want to show the romantic aspect since that's a little special, the love story. The rest, well, I got a little upset [the character] (joking), it's like when you say things in anger out of love. But for sure, if she shows her face again... (joking).
Interviewer: So on the 18th, we'll find out...
SRK: You'll find out on the 18th and the thing is when people give you so much love, they take your life and give you life. That is love and that was the poetic element (explaining the line from the movie, I think). So you'll find out when the movie actually comes out (Kajol still snickering).

can someone tell me why this young lady Kajol is so famous? I recently started watching Bollywood movies (obsessed with SRK) & she just comes across as annoying, has no charisma & I see zero chemistry between these two. Meanwhile, all of the other actresses are waaaaaay better than her. Obviously I am missing something so please educate me.

petra isleyen I was not clear in my post. I have watched over 10 movies with SRK. I think she was in about 4 of them. I see zero chemistry between them. I asked the question b/c I am open to hearing other perspectives. I guess I just don't think she is a good actress and that connects with chemistry. Thanks for your response.
