Water…. Water….
When you clean your teeth well
Listen to me or you’ll be sorry
Flowing water doesn’t rot the stomach
Shut off the faucet well
2000 litres in one short year
Passed water doesn’t pull the mill
Think of when you take a bath
Not to be a miser.
Water…. Water….
When you clean your teeth well
Listen to me or you’ll be sorry
Flowing water doesn’t rot the stomach
Shut off the faucet well
2000 litres in one short year
Passed water doesn’t pull the mill
Think of when you take a bath
Not to be a miser
More than triple, drop for drop,
Than when you’re under the shower.
And then if the toilet leaks
Where you place your little ‘seat’
A hundred a day do go away
Think of how many in a year
It’s raining, it’s raining cornmeal.
The cat goes in the kitchen
she eats all the salted codfish
the cornmeal stays where it is.
Because water doesn’t know
if it’s goodness or calamity:
it always comes down, here and there,
it loses against gravity.
If the rain is exaggerated
the countryside is bombarded.
When it rains just a little
Everything burns like a fire.
When the water comes down
with nitrogen in overabundance
the earth gets poisoned:
stomach
-aches for lunch and dinner.
Garlic, leeks and cauliflower
you know how much they smell.
But if water stays still
it stinks worse than a pachyderm.
Water flows and you flow, too,
it changes, you grow, you live, it dances:
for the caterpillar it’s the end of the world,
for the world it’s called a butterfly.
It’s raining, it’s raining cornmeal.
The cat goes in the kitchen
she eats all the salted codfish
the cornmeal stays where it is.
Because water and reality
always change when they are free.
Do not fear the novelty:
you and I win in equity.
Abba…. Abba….
Quando bene ti lavi i denti
Senti a me o te ne penti
Abba currente non frazigat bentre
Chiudi bene il rubinetto
Duemila litri in un annetto
Abba passada non tirat molinu
Pensa a quando ti fai il bagno
Non per essere taccagno
Più del triplo, goccia a goccia,
che se stai sotto la doccia.
Se poi perde il gabinetto
Dove posi il tuo culetto
Cento al giorno se ne vanno
Pensa tu a quanti in un anno.
Piove piove polentina
La gatta va in cucina
Mangia tutto il baccalà
La polenta resta là.
Perché l’acqua non lo sa
se è bontà o calamità:
scende sempre, qui e là,
perde con la gravità.
Se la pioggia è esagerata
la campagna è bombardata.
quando piove poco poco
tutto brucia come il fuoco.
Quando l’acqua scende giù
con l’azoto in sovrappiù
il terreno si avvelena:
mal di pancia a pranzo e a cena.
Aglio, porro e cavolfiore
tu lo sai che fanno odore.
Ma se l’acqua resta ferma
puzza più di un pachiderma.
Scorre l’acqua, scorri tu,
cambia, cresci, vivi, balla:
per il bruco è la fine del mondo,
per il mondo si chiama farfalla.
Piove piove polentina
La gatta va in cucina
Mangia tutto il baccalà
La polenta resta là.
Perché l’acqua e la realtà
cambian sempre in libertà.
Non temer la novità:
vinco e vinci in equità.
