the baby in the drawer was it for me...
brilliant
a woman finally gets herself together, her mess, as a ringing wakes her. an all-too-common experience among dysfunctional and unstable people, wherein only such a sense of urgency and expectation inspires action. the ringing sets off the race against time, perhaps representing the cultural expectation(s) on women regards "settling down" (among others).
ringing ringing ringing was the bell. ever present as she lets herself be throughout this tumultuous process of "cleaning". even developing a sense of triumph and power towards the end (curtain scene). a newfound meaning was rising from the surface despite having started on a different pretext. no longer was she in this journey to simply answer the door. only to be interrupted by ringing.
so after finally, vaguely, getting her act together... she creeps up to the door. and on the other side? a mess of a man. whose filth will dirty up her world again [she peeked through the door first-- showing reluctance (despite knowing she ought to receive what's behind it. this is why she cleaned up after all!)-- but ultimately still opens it all the way through. knowing and unknowing of this aftermath. (for what is a girl to do, but fall under the pressures of society? of man? you open the door when the bell rings.)] ... the fly acting as a harbinger. already leaving traces of filth.
🤮
I just didn't get it. So many questions, not worth exploring, frankly.
Was there a baby in the drawer?
Yes…lol.
I once went over early to help a friend who was under the weather get ready for a meeting in her house. I put all the dirty dishes in the oven. She was worried but I pointed out no one had ant business opening her oven. Love this film!
@@sharonkaczorowski8690 dishes sounds alright but a baby in the drawer is just so random 🤣 and creepy
@@Caviar707 True! But people have been known to…not with the drawer closed…who couldn’t afford cribs. One hope without it closed!
@@sharonkaczorowski8690 oh! That's new information to me! Thank you for sharing!
Mercy je suis penelope
