A guy gave me one for free after hearing me say that I was looking for second hand cards. He didn't use his anymore so he just gave it to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Im from the future . 5 years from now gpu will be 3 times faster or even 10 times faster than the one you have now It will be named rtx titan the most expensive one and it cost a arm and a leg to buy .
I'm from even further in the future. There will be a new graphics card called the RTX 3090 that has 30% more performance as the RTX Titan for 1/5 of the price.
I bought this for 200$ a week ago. It's performing good at games too but I bought it for high end gpu rendering. And for that price it's a beast! Much better than a 1650 witch is 200$ too.
***** Gian Esteves All that VRAM is useful for 3D artists or anyone else who does any sort of graphical work on the computer. This card is priced very well considering some of the rendering cards can be like $5000 in the US.
***** I interpreted rendering as push a button come back 30 mins later and your image or bake or video is ready. When I say graphics work I include things like working with high rez real time texture painting in a program like substance painter or maybe even photoshop.
THANK YOU FOR POSTING AT 1440p. I need a point of relevance with this card, and all I hear about is 4K. I need to see if there is a vast jump in frames over my current first Titan that was released in 2013. I think overall the frames boost to about 20+ and that is good if I were to sell my card and get this one. Thanks Linus! Thanks Luke! Update: Far Cry 4: Custom settings @1440p Ultra mixed with very high, allows for a smooth 45+60 FPS. This shows the Titan X at 78!! in ULTRA!
And even still it can't run most games over 60 FPS in 4K Ultra Graphic setting. It's unbelievable, I can't wait for when we have graphic cards good enough to run 4K graphics smoothly, it'll look so good my eyes will probably bleed
+RossMow21 You can use MC with over 1200 fps with more than 70 mods(Including those biggies like FTB). Probably higher with Optifine installed idk because I don't use Optifine...like do you even have to use it when you have 1200 fps? ~Yes,I have a titan X ;3
I have three and cant get them to work in 3 way SLI I tested each card and they work individually and in 2 way SLI but will not work in 3 way SLI I thought maybe my ASUS Rampage V Extreme motherboard might be the problem but I RMA it and still cant enable 3 way SLI in the NVidia control panel and my i7-5960X and corsair ax1500i is not the problem so I'm stuck with a third GTX Titan X Maxwell that cost me $1000 in my system doing absolutely nothing :(
+humza hussain TDP doesnt mean the amount of power used it means the amount of heat generated. My PC with a core i5 6600 and r9 290x uses 330w during playing gta 5.
ok but my pc power supply has a max output of 180 watts so your cpu and gpu probably use more power than my pc anyway do you think this build is good: uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/cBHjmG
humza hussain That build looks pretty good but there doesn't seem to be a case listed. Are you going to reuse your current case? If you are then make sure it has enough room.
Hey guys can I run Metro Last Light Maxed out at 4k? CPU: AMD K5 PR90 @ 0.09 GHz Single Core GPU: NVidia GT 420 1 GB DDR3 RAM:64 KB Generic ram single channel 69 MHz HDD: Kingston 200 TB 1337 RPM (This is my porn drive) SSD: Super Talent Value SSD 8 GB Plz let me know cause I am almost done downloading it.
NVIDIA probably has that thing where you do not mess with the stock cooler on the Titan so they would have to do the same thing they did for the Titan Black. They were the only main manufacturer that did this so it could be that they got I trouble for stretching the rule NVIDIA has.
Luke, I would love to see a 1440p showdown. They seem to be a unicorn, and having had my monitor for 2 years now, I basically have to guess how much better a card is going to be compared to my own. the 1080p graphs are great, but when most of the cards nowadays push 70fps anyway, it doesn't really give me an idea of the performance gains I'm going to see at my resolution. Thanks!
ramanjot singh "Uber Gaming Needs" are you fucking kidding me? The gtx 970, can only EFFICIENTLY run at 1080p due too its vram issue. While it is a good card, its not going to last longer than a year. Everyone saying well, games are barley using over 2gbs vram. Games are using more than that now a days, especially the ones coming out later this year.
GreatLord Gywn. Theres only a couple games at 1080 that make the 970 vram issue a real issue. 3.5 is more than enough. I play Battlefield at ultra on 1080 and have no problem. plus not all people play the most graphical games. for $350 it's the best your going to get.
+GreatLord Gywn Not going to last longer than a year?? so you are saying that there will be games out there next week that will not be able to run at 50-60 fps on gtx 970? Well maybe nvidia needs to build a graphic card just for you that would run every game at 100 fps even the games releasing in 2050.
Get Window 7 64bit for the operating system. Also consider getting a larger monitor, say a 24". The screen is the part of the computer you end up looking at the most, so is always worth putting a little bit more into.
Have a look at the 8 gb AMD R9 290X around the same price as the 270 in the UK. and the 8gb of ram is always good for maxing out settings at lower res.
Hmm I'm getting this build in a week, I just don't know if it's worth it to buy this old used pc?! Should I consider buying a better one that is new? GPU: Nvidia GTX 4980 factory overclocked at 120gHz CPU: Intel i98 @105.15 gHz PSU: Hamster wheel (50000) Case: Airplane HHD: 20TB SSD from samsung MOBO: ASUS EXTREME 20
Pretty well for 1080p and 1440p gaming. You can squeeze in 4k but you'd be getting less than 60 fps at compromised settings. Let's see how AMD fsr will play in this equation.
Yup. I bought this a couple of months before the pascal Titan X came out. Slightly annoyed at the time, but it runs perfectly fine, handles everything I throw at it smoothly at max settings. I figure it'll suffice for dialing gaming needs for the next couple of years at least, and I do the odd bit of 3D modelling, and it's quite nippy there. All told, I'm happy with it. Still wish I'd waited for the Pascal, though.
i'm too noob to understand more than half of what he says. someone please tell me how you know it. do i have to learn engineering for to understand what he explains here? thanks :)
+Kim Bong Un it's not quite worth the money for gaming, and it's restricted by its cooling and other stuff. Other graphics cards companies could make a version of this with their own design and nvidia's processor to get even higher performance.
Recommended system memory for this GPU is 48 gigs. I have a MSI TITIAN X and it says on the box. Cant wait to try this card out still waiting to get 64 gig of corsair dominator 2800 SPEED and a good 4k monitor
+xDFWN ASVP Nah, nah 4 of those are not even in the same ballpark as how much performance you can get with 14 Geforce 256s in SLI and Crossfire at the same time, with aftermarket coolers made by ATI. I run pong at a nice -45FPS with these.
First comments are annoying because they add nothing, its a waste of space unrelated to the video. Comments like yours here is just the same and equally annoying.
still using one of these in my system at home and my office machine at work. Trying to decide when I will upgrade the home system but I wasn't impressed with RTX enough to upgrade
Heya guys. Thanks for all that you do. You are appreciated. I would love to see the GTX Titan X vs. dual SLI GTX 760's (be they reference, ASUS OC... whatever's clever). Of course, the Titan X will "win", but I'm suggesting a true value-based comparison from your team. That's it. Again, thanks much. Be well.
I think I'm from a timeline where the Titan X came out when you guys were already at your new office. I refuse to believe you actually reviewed this in the Classic Kitchen.

It would be interesting to see Luke run benchmarks between the R9 295X against the Titan X. :)
I think the 295X would acquit itself well since it's a dual GPU card, but there is clearly a difference in power draw and complexity to that setup. :)
***** Because comparing a $350 290X with the $1000 Titan X is fair hehe

These videos always help me understand a littel bit more about whats new and whats good. nice video.
A guy gave me one for free after hearing me say that I was looking for second hand cards. He didn't use his anymore so he just gave it to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cap
Still waiting for ( 980ti liquid cooled vs Titanx liquid cooled ) !!!!
I totally agree. For me the 980ti is better only because does not throttle.
+Luca Loda and because it's essentially the exact same card for half the price
+NUCK CHORRIS yes it has less vram but otherwise it performs nearly identically and games that don't require boatloads of VRAM
+Luca Loda evga made one. and you can buy 3rd party coolers
Im from the future . 5 years from now gpu will be 3 times faster or even 10 times faster than the one you have now
It will be named rtx titan the most expensive one and it cost a arm and a leg to buy .
I'm from even further in the future. There will be a new graphics card called the RTX 3090 that has 30% more performance as the RTX Titan for 1/5 of the price.
@@swooty2805 If only the 1/5 the price was actually true, focken scalpers I tell you.
I bought this for 200$ a week ago. It's performing good at games too but I bought it for high end gpu rendering. And for that price it's a beast! Much better than a 1650 witch is 200$ too.
damn im getting one too with the custom cooler for 190$ shipped by the way if you can respond to this what cpu are you using and Ram?
When you get recommend this a few weeks after the 3080 and 3090 have launched
Bruh this was 5 years ago
Ιs it realy 12G or 11,5G?
Why would it matter? XD
Are you one of those people that thinks that just because its rendered in real time mean the lighting wasn't pre computed?
I'm assuming you're talking about Epics latest demo? I'm not really sure how that became the topic.
Watching this 7 years later with a 3090 in my system is surreal
THANK YOU FOR POSTING AT 1440p. I need a point of relevance with this card, and all I hear about is 4K. I need to see if there is a vast jump in frames over my current first Titan that was released in 2013. I think overall the frames boost to about 20+ and that is good if I were to sell my card and get this one. Thanks Linus! Thanks Luke!
Update:
Far Cry 4: Custom settings @1440p Ultra mixed with very high, allows for a smooth 45+60 FPS.
DragorElite well we need nasas computer one day because pc gamers are very greedy
DragorElite hell even 8k a tv has been produced but I dont like this evolution in technology it's making everyone materialistic
***** true
DragorElite pcpartpicker.com/p/GVNJWZ
Blame those filthy console peasants
Can I run minecraft at 60fps with this gpu?
+Hi HI its a joke, (right?)
+DawnVail probably over 1000.
I'd be careful for overheating that's really pushing the limits of the Titan
+RossMow21 You can use MC with over 1200 fps with more than 70 mods(Including those biggies like FTB). Probably higher with Optifine installed idk because I don't use Optifine...like do you even have to use it when you have 1200 fps?
~Yes,I have a titan X ;3
+Silent Whisper it was a joke smart ass lol
I like this card, I have 4 or them. Makes 3d rendering in Blender Cycles Fast
Official Nefos 2 and im dying cuz 10 sec fluidanimation rendertime 8h on GTX 960m 2gb😓
well don't worry there going to optimise blender soon. so your 960m will be faster. you should get a 980 when you some money as they are a lot better
I have three and cant get them to work in 3 way SLI I tested each card and they work individually and in 2 way SLI but will not work in 3 way SLI I thought maybe my ASUS Rampage V Extreme motherboard might be the problem but I RMA it and still cant enable 3 way SLI in the NVidia control panel and my i7-5960X and corsair ax1500i is not the problem so I'm stuck with a third GTX Titan X Maxwell that cost me $1000 in my system doing absolutely nothing :(
i am sorry to hear that but you could just create some more computers and use them as nodes
Little down 9 years ago Linus know that 12gb vram would be the minimum for a some games in 2023
Titan X and here I am deciding wether to go for the 950 or the 960....
Go with the R9 380 :)
+George Day Always gets me that the Fury X beats out the Titan X and people still flock to the $1000 card...
Get a 760,better than 950 and overclockable to match the 960
950
+George Day Get the 960 gaming 4g
it uses more watts than my whole pc!
+humza hussain TDP doesnt mean the amount of power used it means the amount of heat generated. My PC with a core i5 6600 and r9 290x uses 330w during playing gta 5.
ok but my pc power supply has a max output of 180 watts so your cpu and gpu probably use more power than my pc
anyway do you think this build is good:
uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/cBHjmG
humza hussain That build looks pretty good but there doesn't seem to be a case listed. Are you going to reuse your current case? If you are then make sure it has enough room.
I updated it
+HumzaPlayz what's your total budget?
Why does it have a solar panel on the side?
It's a led logo on the side the one on the top is a aluminum vapor window
I hope my 4080 super can compete with this monster card
Hey guys can I run Metro Last Light Maxed out at 4k?
CPU: AMD K5 PR90 @ 0.09 GHz Single Core
GPU: NVidia GT 420 1 GB DDR3
RAM:64 KB Generic ram single channel 69 MHz
HDD: Kingston 200 TB 1337 RPM (This is my porn drive)
SSD: Super Talent Value SSD 8 GB
Plz let me know cause I am almost done downloading it.
Finally!!, LTT is late to the party , Thanks youtube
Gigabyte windforce G1 Titan X?
NVIDIA probably has that thing where you do not mess with the
stock cooler on the Titan so they would have to do the same thing they did for the Titan Black. They were the only main manufacturer that did this so it could be that they got I trouble for stretching the rule NVIDIA has.
Jonah_ only 1 version of the titan x and it is the reference design you see here
Wait for EVGA Hydro Cooper water block
Looskid oh right
Diego Carrasco Still a reference design so that still sucks but historically you will never see a non reference Titan.
Thanks!
6 yrs later this card got pwn3d by a mere RTX3050 laptop.
So you're telling me this would draw 1000watts from 4xsli alone??
1200 if they all at 110%
rip power supply
in that case: get an 80+ titanium grade 1500W PSU, they exist.
CapnTates evga 1600 watt p2
will morken I was thinking of a radish with copper wires running from it but that might work too.
CapnTates throw one or two 5960xs in there and even that won't be enough, lol.
390x will shit all over this
How do you know it ?
123 456
It's already known.
Agtsmirnoff official source from amd itself?
m9gam
no
I dont think it will but it will probable be well priced =)
Can't wait for the GTX Titan X and GTX Titan X comparison!
Wat
Spending this much money is foolishness.
Gtx 970 is sufficient for uber gaming needs...
exactly, after 2/3 year you need change GPU anyway becouse game structure change too so..... (sorry bad eng)
This video card is not for gaming but hey you are free to say whatever you want
ramanjot singh "Uber Gaming Needs" are you fucking kidding me? The gtx 970, can only EFFICIENTLY run at 1080p due too its vram issue. While it is a good card, its not going to last longer than a year. Everyone saying well, games are barley using over 2gbs vram. Games are using more than that now a days, especially the ones coming out later this year.
GreatLord Gywn. Theres only a couple games at 1080 that make the 970 vram issue a real issue. 3.5 is more than enough. I play Battlefield at ultra on 1080 and have no problem. plus not all people play the most graphical games. for $350 it's the best your going to get.
+GreatLord Gywn
Not going to last longer than a year??
so you are saying that there will be games out there next week that will not be able to run at 50-60 fps on gtx 970?
Well maybe nvidia needs to build a graphic card just for you that would run every game at 100 fps even the games releasing in 2050.
Is this a good build?
CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
Memory: Kingston Fury White Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive, Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 970 4GB STRIX Video Card
Case: NZXT Phantom 240 ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Monitor: Acer G227HQLbi 60Hz 21.5" Monitor
Keyboard: Cooler Master Storm QuickFire Rapid Wired Gaming Keyboard
Mouse: Logitech G502 Wired Optical Mouse
Yeah. If you have no budget get a 980. and maybe a i5-4690k.
Get Window 7 64bit for the operating system. Also consider getting a larger monitor, say a 24". The screen is the part of the computer you end up looking at the most, so is always worth putting a little bit more into.
Don't feel like making accounts for forums that I'll only use for one question.
Have a look at the 8 gb AMD R9 290X around the same price as the 270 in the UK. and the 8gb of ram is always good for maxing out settings at lower res.
Oldman Money Nah, Win 8.1 is better for gaming.
Ok guys can i ask for opinions on this build:)
Graphics card:gtx 9001
Processor:intel i1 1020k
Psu: AA battery
Case:pizza box
Storage:CD
Mobo: bottom of the pizza box
Guys i just want this computer to run crysis 7 @ 144fps on real life graphics is it possible??
carlson ang i hate these unfunny comments , they are really old and unfunny man
sorry if that was harsh
Hmm I'm getting this build in a week,
I just don't know if it's worth it to buy this old used pc?! Should I consider buying a better one that is new?
GPU: Nvidia GTX 4980 factory overclocked at 120gHz
CPU: Intel i98 @105.15 gHz
PSU: Hamster wheel (50000)
Case: Airplane
HHD: 20TB SSD from samsung
MOBO: ASUS EXTREME 20
Marius Lundal You seem nice :^)
***** Nice that you can take a joke... It is ironic towards those who post the newest and ask if it can run Crysis, Battlefield or minecraft
4:28 what sorcery is this? I literally asked you to do just that out loud.
And the 980TI has similar performance for $350 less. And two R9 290X 8GB's have more performance than the Titan X for $400 less.
+CaptainCrape factor in the extra heat, power consumption and perhaps a better PSU
Sebastian Contreras Still cheaper. And with the 980TI you don't need as good of a CPU, and it will be cooler.
Yep, you're right
And you say "Cooler" not colder
Sebastian Contreras Okay, and you don't capitalize a word in the middle of a sentence.
+CaptainCrape ohhhhh!
Just bought a GTX 1070 second hand for $160 and it barely surpasses the Titan X
Out of curiosity, how does this card hold up today?
It’s about 1/3rd the power of a 3090
Pretty well for 1080p and 1440p gaming. You can squeeze in 4k but you'd be getting less than 60 fps at compromised settings. Let's see how AMD fsr will play in this equation.
man this company is smart. not a single eithernet video output. next year gonna have to buy a new card to play in 8k
Who wathc this after gtx pascal cards release lmao
yip
lol this came in my feed and i was like (facepalm)
Lel
*Laughs in 1080 Ti*
Still wish I'd waited for the Pascal, though.
i'm too noob to understand more than half of what he says. someone please tell me how you know it. do i have to learn engineering for to understand what he explains here? thanks :)
obvious troll
OhSombraa hi, no, it's a genuine question.
+Kim Bong Un it's not quite worth the money for gaming, and it's restricted by its cooling and other stuff. Other graphics cards companies could make a version of this with their own design and nvidia's processor to get even higher performance.
+Kim Bong Un No
+Kim Bong Un You has to learns da engwish first young gwasshoppa
6 year later I am still using this... Tough GPu can still Develop Ue5 games with LUmen and Nanite Support.
still running the titan x too bro^^
Can you compare this card to dual 980s and 3 970's in SLI??
Something to show the best of (roughly) a $1000 GPU budget.
This is not the world fastest gpu the 295x2 is faster in games.
Fastest *Single* GPU. 295X2 is a dual GPU card so of course it's gonna be faster.
MasterJV123 to be fair they said gpu not single gpu and 295x2 is still a gpu
It is the fastest gpu, but not the fastest graphics card
john li 295x2 has 2 gpus ;)
111lead its a single card is what i meant so two cores but still technically a gpu
Finally I can download minesweeper.
...aaaaaaand 1 year and 2 months later...
+macX3 Haha 1080
Titan XP is better
And 3 years later
Recommended system memory for this GPU is 48 gigs. I have a MSI TITIAN X and it says on the box. Cant wait to try this card out still waiting to get 64 gig of corsair dominator 2800 SPEED and a good 4k monitor
hope I can play mincraft with this. lets buy 4 just in case
+Leo Hauser How original...
+xDFWN ASVP Nah, nah 4 of those are not even in the same ballpark as how much performance you can get with 14 Geforce 256s in SLI and Crossfire at the same time, with aftermarket coolers made by ATI. I run pong at a nice -45FPS with these.
+Leo Hauser It wouldnt matter much but you know that ya troll
Anyone came here after GTX1080>X1070 were announced ?? No, just me then.
Lol the titan x totally dominates the titan x.
which one?
+frikynikkid the fast one
Muhammad Numan lol ikr
iv goto say the reflection from the table onto the card actually suits it
EVGA 950 FTW #FeelingDumb
***** Not for a buget build :P i could go whit the MSI but EVGA looks better
Ugh 950
Roope00 -
Its actualy awsome if its SSC
YellowPeaches Super Super Clocked?
Roope00 -
Umm yesh :P its derpy to get a SSC for only 3$ more
R9 295x2 is faster. This is the fastest single gpu.
Are you on crack.
Naomi Agony I think he means "R9 295x2 is faster. This (Titan X) is the fastest SINGLE gpu" which would be correct
No, the Titan X is the fastest GPU, while the 295x2 is the fastest graphics card. A 295x2 has 2 GPUs, both are slower than the Titan X
STOP THE 'first' COMMENTS!
LukeThePerson First reply on this comment - yay
First comments are annoying because they add nothing, its a waste of space unrelated to the video.
Comments like yours here is just the same and equally annoying.
still using one of these in my system at home and my office machine at work. Trying to decide when I will upgrade the home system but I wasn't impressed with RTX enough to upgrade
Kreygasm
***** Hey I am subbed to you xD
IndaLight
Anyone watching this after finding out the 1070 will be as powerful as this? xDD
+NotQuiteMelvin sup
+Maniac Productions I think it's only more powerful in VR since the 1080 is not that much better than 980ti
+NotQuiteMelvin Where the hell you getting that from? It has a 2.2ghz core clock and was hitting well over 200fps in the new Doom on ultra.
Amaterasu DX12 Benchmarks on /r/nvidia , they show a 980Ti overclocked to like 1550Mhz doing slightly worse than a 1080
+NotQuiteMelvin How old is that? Cause they literally just made a conference where the 1080 has 2x the performance of the Titan X.
linus did you pay for the gtx titan x or they just send them to u for review?
4:13 an on.. lmao I cant get over Linus' reaction to phyx
I saw one for $200 on ebay today, and I know it's a 2-year old card now, but as an owner of dual-770's, im thinking of getting it.
Be well.
Bought this years ago, it's Return of Investment is 2 months on my part and still using this up to now.....
$600 in my limit on any video card, maybe in a couples of years I can pick up a Titan-X on ebay for $500-$600 with a little luck?
When they cracked that reference cooler joke, I spat out my hot porridge on the monitor!
I think I'm from a timeline where the Titan X came out when you guys were already at your new office. I refuse to believe you actually reviewed this in the Classic Kitchen.
0:10 I want you to join Linus Tech Tips ARMY
Lukes reviews are great, but his hand movements are even better.
