    I have an older model and thought I’d go with a traditional office chair for my new job. Within 3 days I was back to my kneeling chair.

      My grandma used to have this type of chair a long time ago, I have no idea how she came to this type of chair! I tried it, and I felt like it’s super comfortable. Now years later after I discovered floor sleeping and all kinds of actually healthy alternative things to the traditional “western style”, I remembered this chair and searched this video. It’s like you intuitively know what’s good for your body! Despite all the bad habits learned in life, I’m grateful to know about those alternatives and getting back to what’s more natural.

    Have you checked Varier Variable Balans? Its similar, but not rigid. It lets you rock back and forth and it also has flexible shin supports, letting you sway side to side.

    Hi Doc! You mention this chair lets you create lordosis, this surprises me as I thought many people build up lordosis and anterior pelvic tilt from traditional chairs. (At least I did and my physio told me it's very common). Thus I think a chair like this would be good because the hips are more extended , it seems this would help in correcting APT and holding a more straight back?

    • @hububhublub-zi6or
      @hububhublub-zi6or Рік тому +1

      most people who sit too long have an APT, I can't see any universe where emphasising this lordosis wouldn't further worsen this problem as it discourages strengthening of the muscles needed for better habits eg glutes lower abs hamstrings, although yes at least the hip flexors are less shortened. I thought I'd try kneeling but this is not good for the kneecaps long term apparently so if anyone has a better solution let us know :)

    What I'd like to know is there alot of weight on the knees? I'm sure a person's weight has an effect, but I've got two broken knees... thanks in advance if you get a chance to answer my question 😉

  • @kicknotes
    @kicknotes Рік тому +1

    Dr. Story: I purchased two of these chairs, and while I like them, I'm not quite sure what the "correct" (if there is such a thing) way to sit on them is. I've seen photos (from sellers/mfg's, etc.) where the models have basically their tailbones just above the back edge of the seat, whereas others have their bulk of their butts more situated directly in the center of the seat, more like a typical flat chair seat. While the answer may ultimately be "whatever's most comfortable", is there a more correct way to sit on these? If I sit with more of my butt (tailbone, etc.) on the seat, I find myself getting some tailbone pain when compared to sitting higher up on the seat. Insight? (edit: also, any insight on the seat angle? Yours looks to be pretty shallow, whereas I've seen recommendations suggesting a must steeper (120 degree+) angle is better).

      Search floor sleeping/no mattress sleeping! I’ve learned a lot of benefits when you sleep (first you have to adjust to it) on a hard surface. Mattresses cause our bodies to sink and bad postures including bad relaxation of muscles and don’t provide strengthening our bodies just like the floor does. Just search on YT, you might start a new life with that!
