I like the fact there are many ways to tackle a mission. Last night I was doing the main quest where you need to get in the laboratory in Garbage. I tried going straight through the front entrance but kept on getting killed because there were too many soldiers. After about 5 failed attempts I decided to try another way in and found a stealth way in and snuck my way to the laboratory.
On the empty world and open spaces, I quite like that. It raises the tension and some of the fights - the bullet spongey mutants - are exhausting (I just run from them now to save ammo/repair bills), so it's good to have a break. I also think open spaces are immersive - it's a forbidden radioactive wasteland, so I would not expect a lot of population density. I got the achievement for 100 headshots in my first 10 hours - and I am a slow player who is rubbish at fps - so there is no shortage of fighting in the game. The issue for me is not an empty world, but the random spawns and respawns being too close/frequent in a few places. A-life would be nice, but sounds challenging to implement and a mixture of preset and random mobs would be nearly as good. (Did Cyberpunk have A-life? I think it was mainly preset encounters and some random stuff, but it was still the most impressive and perhaps immersive RPG city I've experienced due to its other virtues, e.g. jaw dropping scale and impressive visuals).
Most of the mutants are not that "bullet spongy" the issue is they have high armor... so you want to use AP rounds against all mutants. The fact many mutants seem like they shouldn't be armored at all is more of an issue.
Incredible game. Glad you are enjoying it. I’ve put it down for now because I want to experience it working as it should, particularly the AI. Understand that you have a schedule to keep and don’t have that luxury..much love
Same! Its the reason why I love Far Cry so much, You can tackle enemies from a distance and watch them fight other enemies and animals... I feel like Stalker has the same kind of vibes and I don't want to start it if that system isn't working, its the whole reason I started researching Stalker/2 because I heard how good they are with A.I
Your audience is definitely starting to grow I feel! I've been with you since Aeternum. Keep up the good work Ren! I'm also inspired by your work, im getting into making content I just don't have the time I need or all the stuff. 😅
Same here I'm only like 4 zones in and 50 plus hours of gameplay I keep farming areas where enemies keep respawning just to get there guns to sell i be making like $10,000-$15,000 a run
Thanks for showing the map, that makes it easier to see how many places you have been. I just made it out of the starter zone... I probably spent WAAAAAY too long in there just wandering around looking for secrets. And I'm sure I still missed a bunch.
The second half of the game really ramps up the bugs. After finishing the SIRCCA base or whatever I literally had like 4 quests completely bugged out and couldn’t finish them. Game is still great lol it’s only going to get better and once mods really start flooding in over the next year or two this game is going to be next level incredible. Let em cook!
The thing about A-Life in the other games was the zone was populated with mutants first and fewer patrols. Eventually factions would win the areas and patrol more often as emissions brought anomalies and mutants. So what A-Life could manage to do after the game was completed could continue to change. So to me it is working as intended, slow at the start because you are under prepared. I only managed a few hours of play so far because it crashes more when I try to record in OBS. Still figuring that part out.
Do you own the game on Steam? They added a new game recording feature to Steam recently, maybe that could help with your crashing issue, also if you don't have it on Steam I think it's possible to still use the recording feature as long as you can get the Steam overlay to launch on your game. Haven't tested if this works myself mind you, so I'm only speculating, but you could try adding the game EXE as a non Steam game and maybe that could work.

I’m beyond immersed into this game man I’m so into this world, the story and the exploration for new gear and stuff. Then there’s some moments where I just stand in awe of the views and atmosphere. Also the A life has been cool for me as well, sometimes I feel so alone and even kind of scared and then some NPCs will rock up and mutants will rock up and they will help me fight them off 🫡
For people struggling get the first exo suit in cooling towers at red fortress than go chemical plant at central elevator on the top of the tanks is the extended mag for shotgun. FWIW, I play on Steam. So far enjoying the game, A-Life and Framegen issues being my biggest gripes. I've definitely had some weird and frustrating stuff when A-Life 2.0 is acting like A-Lie 2.0 lol. I'd definitely agree with you that it's great when it works, though. I'm in software as well, albeit backend and nothing game related, but I agree with your sentiments related to buggy launches. It's all part of the process. I expect this game will be phenomenal after it cooks for a while. I'm still planning on powering through and not waiting unless I legit get locked out of progression, but I'm only at Wild Island.
Played all Stalker games and the only thing I hate right now, is the english voice acting. Im playing with ukrainean language and english subtitles just because the english version dosent fit the game for the most part. Thats my only problem with the game, also I wanted some new mechanics about character progression, stuff like leveling up cooking and some other things but Stalker overall isnt an rpg I guess so its ok, I dont hate the bugs or the frame issues right now, only problem for me...the english voice acting. In every other Stalker game, the english was eastern Europe style and it fit the game perfectly.
@@dkmail1 I know, I dont blame the developers, just saying, right now im playing with ukrainean voice acting because it feels way more Stalker type. Overall loving the game, that was my only issue with it.
@@Danilich_Iurii At least for the ones who are not speaking ukrainean its better than the english version somehow. But I agree...the voice acting is the previous Stalker games were far superior even if they had less lines overall
Really unique game, extremely immersive - so far 37h in and I've only explored like 2.5 zones of the map - it's huge. To be fair I've spent probably 5h of that time fine-tuning settings, .ini files and performance optimization mods to get more or less stable frametime on Ryzen 7 7700X / RX7800XT / 64gb - but still it's totally worth it) Also loving cloud sync with my Xbox to pick up playing there at any moment!
This game nails world atmosphere so well, gunplay great, story interesting enough to keep playing, exploration very enjoyable, i can play this game for months huge map, survivability elements they nailed it, hunger, weight, radiation, emissions in game well thought, waiting for patch to fix things in game, it has bugs and glitches but honestly Cyberpunk 2077 was way worse at launch
How do you find the economy in the later game? I'm in Garbage and find that it costs way way too much to do minor repairs on my modded guns and gear. Going out for missions or just looting, I often end up losing money even after selling lots of loot.
Have you played any of the PC modpacks? GAMMA in particular. There is plenty of discussion around A-life, and if youve had a taste of MODDED A-life it is an addiction that no other surv shooter (that ive played) can satiate. Can't get past the tutorial step where you break the boards w/knife. If I go into Options and try to bind a key to the circular menu, game crashes. Consistently. Hope they fix this in the first patch, 'cuz... 😞
so maybe stop trying to bind in the tutorial and wait until you are out in the "main game". Sounds like a completely avoidable bug if you just stop trying to rebind.
