Now this is a great program! I think most trail runners would agree that this new wave of users have been frustrating. Not because there are more people on the trail. We love to see people out getting exercise and enjoying nature. What's frustrating is seeing trash, dog poop, dogs off leash, illegal parking, going off trail and just not putting forth the effort to learn how to be a polite and responsible trail user. It's a privilege to use our parks and trails. Personally, I use trails to escape what is happening all around us on a daily basis. We need more groups to step up and educate people at trailheads. There comes a responsibility when you set forth on a trail, and that's to leave it as you found it. We must preserve parks and trails to the very best of our ability.
I’m astonished that motorised vehicles are permitted on these trails. Seems inevitable that damage occurs in this case. Bottom line for mountain users is to leave absolutely no trace that you’ve been there.

@@saltydog6241 impossible to not leave a Trace if all these people use any form of mechanized transportation to get from their original destination to Silverton and back. If you truly care about "the environment" you will stop breathing now 🧘♂️
Yeah lets educate people but lets not go over the top with the overblown narrative. 2 tyre tracks take 10 years to heal in a marsh 🤦🏻♂️. Public land should be open to everyone who wants to use it. Just make sure they use it responsibly
That's actually how long it will take though, possibly longer. It's not hyperbole. Alpine tundra has been shown to take 100 years or more to fully recover from damage to vegetation. This marshy area will likely take a lot less than that, but still quite some time. All alpine environments are delicate, the growing season there is short and even during growing season conditions are challenging for vegetation growth. That's precisely why it's such a big deal that people stay on trails, especially in vehicles. It takes seconds to damage these environments and literal decades for them to recover.

Good luck to all the runners!

Giving back = making content? Or is Altra helping organize the new ambassador program or something?
Did you read the description content?

3:48.....nope! We don't want everyone "using their" public lands, that would be completely unsustainable!
Not if people understand and practice leave no trace, but they don’t (a combination of selfishness and stupidity).

The Running Rangers is born! C’mon! Doing nothing is not an option any longer!
