Jake Luhrs of August Burns Red REACTS to The Ghost Inside's "AFTERMATH"!!

- Today I'm reacting to The Ghost Inside's new single and music video "AFTERMATH". I'll be honest, it was a difficult video to watch as it brought up their traumatic experience of their bus crash in 2015.. however, the band has healed and chosen to carry a torch of victory while gifting us with this insanely emotional and anthem like track "AFTERMATH". Please subscribe and comment below your thoughts on this track and music video! Thanks for stopping by :)

Whole metalcore world has been crying together since this song dropped. "Triumph Over Tragedy!!!!"
it's that line man, that fucking line was just killer.
They are swinging so much harder ❤️
And hardcore and metal world in general
accurate
Thats a fucking Tattoo right there! Triumph over Tragedy is so damn powerful!
Man that scream after the cleans. You can literally feel not only the pain but energy of being back from him. Absolutely amazing to see these guys continue on.
That scream is my favourite part of the song. Everytime it comes up while I'm listening to it in the car I turn the volume up and let it blow me away. I'm so happy they are back
That scream cuts right through me, EVERY TIME
His scream is on point for sure
i was lookin for this comment. i got goosebumps and you can tell jake luhrs did too!!
Having those cleans, and looking back, those few seconds felt like 'ok, so we're coming off a rest day and we're rested and let's go get it and play the next show' and that scream is the crash and those months of rehab and losing a friend'.
Like, Vigil taps into all of that darkness and fear and anger and loss and in one song, this band stated how strong their will is to look forward and move forward.
Seeing Andrew's leg for the first time is a dagger, and I'm just glad these guys survived.
so everyone started crying at the same time? I feel a bit better now
Joseph E No shame in that, brother
Yup, bawled pretty hard. This hits so hard.
Seems like it. First song to really do that to me
Ah !! I had the exact same reaction during all the song + the bass slam at the second breakdown got me through my bones......
Same reaction here in Germany. Hits so hard! I‘m 38 year’s old and have to go outside the room after that video...soo good to have these guys back!
the ghost inside and architects hitting even the manliest of men in the feels
Toms passing had me torn
I mean, you can't leave out WCAR. All three suck that any of this happened.
@@joshlynch5676 what happened to WCAR? I dont follow them very close
@@Drooper99 their original vocalist passed away, i think last year
@@Drooper99 Kyle, the singer, passed away in 2018 due to an accidental overdose. Had everybody messed up, man
Still get goosebumps when the scream comes back in. Every time. 3 years later.
Absolutely. I just came around to this song again, and I know you always here “You can hear the pain in music”
Vigil with that scream showed us and the community 5 years of pain, suffering, rehabilitation, and trauma, in 5 seconds..
Chills. Everytime.
@@steelo_g Bro This song still hurts me. god damn
"Today I woke up to a brand new me. I know I can't rewrite history. Yesterday is gone, and I'm ready for what tomorrow brings."
Very powerful and inspiring lyrics.
That along with the rehab videos made me fucking sob, so proud of these guys.
yessssss dude so powerful thats when i cry hahaha
They always said it the best, "Lifes swinging hard, but im swinging harder"
To me, that scream after the cleans is a statement saying "I'm not done yet!" and it made me shed a tear too
ive watched the music vid atleast 10 or 12 times and still get goosebumps every time
King Leonidus
I felt like that scream was them like letting go of everything that happened. Letting go of the frustrations and pain, and saying they’re moving forward. That’s what it said to me. But this song is so amazing
Cleans?
@@Ryl0o still get goosebumps everytime
everybody's gangsta until Jake stars crying
This song has one of the most emotional metal songs I've heard. How they conquered. Triumph over tragedy.
Clean music watch doomsday by architects
@@busrolla Or Gone with the Wind live at Alexandra Palace. So powerful, especially with Dan's speech in the middle and Sam breaking down.

you should check out this band called august burns red, they slap.
Yeah man. I heard their vocalist Jake Luhr’s is really good.
Agreed another badass band
Nick Kenney haha thanks !
@@jakeabr Always good to see you in the comments. Been a fan for 12 years homie! Bless you and yours and stay safe
I heard they were pretty good too, interesting 🤔.
I lost my leg in a car accident in 2009. This song hits home so much and it’s a f*cking banger! Lyrics are raw, was in tears from the very beginning. They’re so inspiring ❤️
Ra Ka that’s really tough and I’m glad you’re here with us! God Bless You!
First to Infinity thanks dude 🙏
I'm glad you're here with us. I'm sorry that you went through that but I can tell that you're a super strong woman. I absolutely love the fight in The Ghost Inside and in you too!
Madness To Creation Avery kind, thank you sm 😭
That's a hard hit life threw at you... I hope you're doing well
I love that the entire scene basically halted the moment TGI dropped this. And that pretty much everyone shed a tear of joy for our boys not only coming out, but coming out swinging harder than ever
This song has honestly given me chills for days now.
Kripsin literally listened to it like 10 times a day. Still get the chills every time
& tears...
I don’t think a single person, fan or not, watched that clip without tearing up.
Facts! Really just hit super hard
I didn't really hear much of The Ghost Inside, but I've heard about them prior, and then their accident.
Then I seen this song and thought, "Oh hey, these guys are back! Guess I should check em out."
Now let me tell you when I teared up through the whole video...
I immediately preordered an LP & WallFlag. So god damn good.
ABR may never be my favorite metal band, but Jake sets the example of how a vocalist should use their platform to spread a message of positivity and affect change. Thanks for posting and showing that it's ok to be affected or moved by something.
I was a vocalist for years. Just so happens to be metal. When certain vocal pitches, guitar tones, and then the added visuals. Tears just happen when you hear such a good part of a song. It’s like the “nasty heavy face” you get when you hear a dirty breakdown.
That dem good tears.
Right? You always hear about how hardcore is "angry music" and it's just not. It's passionate. It's emotive over a whole spectrum of emotions.
@@ohalistair like jake and the rest of abr say, angry music for happy people :)
Dude yesss I'm glad I'm not the only one
I cried with you , man.
Haven’t cried like that since Doomsday by Architects. Thanks for sharing this Jake.
Mike check out Architects live performance playing gone with the wind at Alexandria palace
Humanerr0r oh I’ve seen it total tear jerker man
I can't say this enough: absolute inspirations. This is one comeback we'll never forget and something we'll pass on to our children. The epic story of The Ghost Inside.
Almost teared up at the end even tho only knew this band by name. That scream at the end so powerful and full of emotions i had goosebumps. Love your reaction, it is so genuine!
The Ghost Inside and August Burns Red tour please please please! Life's swinging hard but TGI are forever swinging harder. Triumph over tragedy ❤🤘
I agree with this. Also, did you care for new DGD? I only like maybe 4-5 songs. New Trivium is another album of the year contender though.
@@jasonlovesmusicreacting882 haven't really had a chance to sit down and enjoy them. I heard a few from DGD really digging calentamiento global. Been listening to alot of in hearts wake and ocean grove lately
Add Fit For an Autopsy since Will Putney produced the album and ADTR since Jermey McKinnon helped co-produce!
@@TenaciousJoe24 Yeah, that song is lit.
I love DGD new album. One In A Million is so dope
Your reaction was really genuine and honest man, that’s awesome. The part where you said “I’m not gonna pretend we’re all best friends but we spent time on the road together” was sick. I think everyone got emotional at the same time during that song but I can’t imagine how you felt actually having toured with them for just over a month.
Thanks for the reaction champ 🤛🏻
Can someone plz tell me what Abr song is in the intro to this video!!!
@@morganschutte5553bloodletter
I was in a car accident in 2015 and I almost died. This song hit me so hard and really helped to put my own life into perspective and motivated me to pick up guitar and play again. It was so good to see a raw reaction to this man. This definitely hit me in the feels. Keep up the reacts dude, it's so good to see you doing them!
"Today I woke up to a brand new me
I know I can't rewrite history
Yesterday is gone
And I'm ready for what tomorrow brings"
The feels went right to the heart didn't they haha. Don't be shy to post those. Genuine reactions is what we like from reacting videos 👍
Most touching song ever, rarely i cry over a song but i couldnt hold it in to this one.
I can’t imagine how therapeutic it was for these guys to write and record this song...The Ghost Inside was there during a time in my life where I needed a positive message and a support and they’re still giving out that same message and support through their music. Much love
Love the come back. Just shows they mean what they sing about
“Life’s swinging hard, but I’m swinging harder!”
Every time that breakdown hits, I get chills all over. Every. Single. Time.
I just came here to watch a musician react to a fellow band putting out somehing new (at the time). I'm not really into this kind of metal, but I'm still trying to blink my way back to looking as if I didn't just cry like a baby. That scream, all that pain and emotion flying in every direction, the rehab pictures... Wow. That was heavy in every sense of the word. Appreciate this getting posted, Jake. Damn.
Respect. Takes a real man to show emotion... and to do it in front of thousands....RESPECT.
I cry every time I hear this track. That scream hits home.
ive listened to this song a million times and it still moves me. when he screams " Triumph over tragedy" it does something to me inside.
You can just feel in that last scream that Jonathon really let something go during that vocal day. Just sheer cathartic, powerful, energy.
That scream after the cleans pierces my fucking soul everytime. My entire body reacts to it. I recognize that scream. Its releasing pain. I screamed like that when my Mother and Father passed away and was giving up.
I love this song because not only is it a deeply emotional and personal song for them but it is open enough that anyone can put their personal experiences into it.
The heavy music scene is glad to have these guys back and I'm excited to see what comes from them in the future.
This song gets me every time, and the music video was perfect. Good reaction video. Love ABR and The Ghost Inside.
As a Ex firefighter due to open heart surgery in 2018 and 8yrs of service, this hits home for me and I can't stop listening to this song. Best wishes to them and I'm glad and thankful they wrote this. TRIUMPH OVER TRAGEDY.
u can rearly feel the pain in this song. its breathtaking
Same reaction! Right in the fucking feels! This song could have not come into my life at a better time when life is falling apart and you have to start all over again! Love this band and yours! Music is therapy!
Man I remember seeing both August Burns Red and the ghost Inside on the eastpak antidote tour when you were performing in Gothenburg Sweden. It was the first third time I went and saw August Burns red live. You were as always tearing the house down but the thing that realt stood out to me that night was the 15 minutes I got to spend with Jonathan Vigil after the show. I was going through the biggest depression of my life at the time but their album The returners was pretty much what helped me go through it. I got the chance to talk to Jonathan for a while to show my gratitude. I got the biggest hug of my life and he would not stop talking about how important we as fans of the band was for him and the band. Such a cool dude. I was so devastated when the accident happened and I an not going to lie. This track teared me up big time. But I am so f’ing happy that they are back.
Nothing but power man! Blessings from Mexico!
This is an important reaction video. This release is important to metalcore and hardcore as a whole. The story behind this is powerful enough in itself. The lyrics these guys put into each track are just beautiful and I'll shamelessly cry to the powerful message from this track with every listen. TGI. The beat goes on.
I'm glad I wasnt the only one crying at the end of the song. I'm so glad they're back too. I've missed them, and glad all of them can kick ass!
This is what music is man... it’s meant to draw emotions... Catharsis at its finest... I was moved to tears as well. Broke down just like you... thank you for showing your strength
What a band this is
Albums gonna hit harder than covid.
Stoked!!!!!🤘
Its like the 30th time Ive seen this video.. First saw it when they uploaded it.. It still gets me man
That ending definitely pulled some strings on the heart and had the water works bubbling especially seeing the reaction, beautiful stuff
Seeing how you emotionally reacted to this hit me hard. Especially at 4:30. The whole metal/hardcore/world have been crying collectively to this song. Not because it could be considered a sad song. But it’s quite the opposite. Such a positive, happy, loving song. Respect to you sir ❤️
My heart dropped when I heard about the crash, they were one of my favorite bands at the time and I had just seen them live maybe a couple weeks before. This song and the video made me so emotional and I'm so happy to see that they've come back from that and they still carry the same positive message
Their first concert back with this song is gonna be absolutely crazy.
Ive probably watched 3 or 4 different reactions to this song now. Every time someone has to cut the onions.
One of the most inspirational songs ive ever had the pleasure of finding. The fact the song was written before the crash, scrapped, and then re-used post-crash is a fucking amazing story. The story of their rehabilitation and moving forward. Fucking love it.
One of the most genuine reactions I've seen for this song. Obviously it comes from a much more personal place then any random reactor. Literally just asked about this on your previous video, I was happy to see it pop up.
It ripped my soul out but with joyful redemption. I got teary eyed with that final breakdown. They are along with you guys, the pinnacle of eternal persistence and heartful relatability. Let this empower our souls. Great review and proud of you. Try their song, between the lines and hail the suns, missed injections.
If ABR toured with TGI I'm pretty sure he knows Between the Lines
Your message came out right of your heart , i feel you brother
The ghost inside August burns Red tour needs to happen.
I'd sell my car and walk for it.
His enunciation is second to none. One of the clearest vocalists in the genre. Masterful lyricist as well. What they have endured is insane. They've come back with a vengeance.
Although this was made 4 years ago and the song it hit me in the heart at the time when it came out and the fact when I heard about the crash, I followed the ghost inside around the uk when returners got released went every date, the guys invites me back stage because of this a number of times and helped me through some hard times with there music, but my God I was devastated when the crash happened
Jake, this was such a heartfelt reaction. I've watched the video multiple times now and your reaction has made me feel emotional because I could see your emotion and the impact that it had in you because you know the guys personally. Hope you are well and staying safe ❤
I can't stop tearing up every time I listen to this song...dang
Love ya bro I'm glad you checked this out man. This is a truly inspirational story and it hit all of us deep dont be ashamed to post tears bro. THE BEAT GOES ON! 🤘
My cousin was roommates with Andrew (their drummer) in Lansing Michigan when he was still with For The Fallen Dreams back in the day
Tears and all man, it ain’t sad. It’s triumph. It’s a celebration of perseverance and the very thing this band has symbolized for the beginning. Human spirit. It’s unending and unrelenting. This shit made me happy. That can’t be stopped or held back.
Was tearing as well, thanks for genuine reaction man, the song's great
I listened to these guys back in the day and still do now, hoping they'd come back. To hear that they're back and listening to this song... it is hands down one of the most emotional songs I've heard in a very long time. You can see the raw passion throughout and I'm very excited to see what's to come!
Very nice video and a heartfelt review here, you can clearly see how much these guys mean to you. You're doing them a great credit here as a true friend.
If this band doesn't prove that you can overcome even the greatest fears and tragedies, I don't know what will on this planet. Sending all the positivity to them and each and every one of you. This is what them and we deserve. Hope and faith.
Man already almost a year since this dropped. I got to possibly the lowest point of my life and when this song dropped, along with the rest of the album, it honestly gave me so much strength to take my life back. I came to love this band after the accident happened, I learned about it and they have given me so much inspiration.
You give me inspiration as well Mr. Luhrs
i was crying with you, God bless you jake!
Awwww that breakdown gives me chills, so amazing. This song is so good
This song brought tears to my eyes before I even knew the backstory. The raw emotion in his voice is *powerful,* and anyone who says "screams" only convey anger does *not* know what they're talking about.
This is quite possibly one of the most powerful metalcore/hardcore songs ever written…been jamming it since day one, and it still gives me chills today. This whole album is gold and really got be back into listening to these guys.
This is exactly what I was waiting for. Thank you for doing this one, much respect for these guys ❤️
I got to hang out with the guys at their Odessa, TX show 2 days before the crash and was supposed to make the Lubbock show the next day but was unable to due to work... When I heard about this on Liquid Metal the day of the crash I literally had to pull over because I couldn't see through the tears... When I watched this I reacted the same way you did.... just straight to the soul.... appreciate the stories and the love brother! Couldn't be happier for a great group of guys who made the greatest comeback in music in my opinion.... All the best to you and those you love!
Thanks for posting Jake, we love the real emotions cause we all felt them!
Thanks for posting this. I can’t imagine what they went through. It’s amazing to see them back, sharing their experiences and, to me, a message of hope. Thanks for sharing your emotion. Peace.
Thank you for this Jake
So stoked you made this so quickly. I cried before I even watched their video, so incredibly happy to see them back and couldn’t wait to see how you’d react. Welcome back, boys!!
I hope the band gets to see this reaction! This is so genuine and heartfelt, thank you Jake and thank you The Ghost Inside!
The first time I ever saw this band was in Lubbock Texas where I’m from. It was right after they released returners. They opened for stick to your guns, and my life was never the same!
It's such an emotional video. Gets me every time I watch or hear the song
even after listening about 20 times I still tear up and got shivers. love the honest reaction!
Goosebumps all throughout. Just genuinely good music.
Thank you for posting this. The raw emotion is beautiful
Thank you for sharing, Jake. Being so raw and emotional and honest can't be easy, but I hope there's some solace in us all feeling the exact same thing, (and crying HEAPS), at THAT moment. Love you brother, stay well x
Love the emotion and reflection of the song Jake. Very well said. I got emotional watching this and listening and I didn’t even know them, so watching you watch this was pretty crazy. Keep these up, love hearing your insight and anecdotes of all these bands that we wouldn’t normally get to hear as fans.
I love how you almost just totally get lost in the music to the point that I almost think you forget you are making a video. That passion really just makes hearing you guys so amazing for me. Then to see you in tears brought me to tears! Thanks for exposing me to another amazing band that I hope to see out as well as you guys!
How does anyone 👎 this reaction? People are sick! Awesome job Jake, I’m sure this was a tough reaction for you and I’m glad you pushed through it. You weren’t the only one choked up. I can’t imagine seeing this from your perspective.
Jake, seeing your reaction shows us fans how real you are! Man, I just found your channel and love the content. Been a fan for years so it's nice to see this personal side of you! Take care, brother.
THIS IS THE MOST WHOLESOMEST CONTENT THROUGHOUT ALL OF QUARANTINE!!! crying throughout this whole video. God bless you Jake and God bless you The Ghost Inside!
I'm so glad you did a reaction video to this.
I got teary eyed seeing the news footage at the beginning and then I cried the exact same time. I'm so glad TGI is back. I only became a fan within the last couple years when I heard one of their songs on Spotify and I never turned back, they just clicked with me. TGI is definitely on my concert bucket list 🤘❤
This song just gets your right in the feels. Thank you Jake for sharing your emotions on this.
This hits so hard!! So many tears! Beyond stoked for these boys and us fans!!!
Ive held my tears on every reactin video, but in this one i couldnt, seeing your emotions release them, but are tears of joy and victory, thank you for this reaction, Triumph Over Tragedy!!!
There’s really something crazy about crying and head banging at the same time! This video hits me hard every time! I’ve watched it probably 10 times and it’s still so emotional and powerful! Glad they are back! Absolutely amazing!
The song is so full of emotion and just like everyone else i'm glad to see them carry on! It takes a lot to bounce back from something like that and I have so much more respect for them that they had the power to move past this tragedy and turn it into something positive. Well done guys and I'm ecstatic to hear your music again! 🤘❤
You're an absolute sweetheart, Jake. Thank you for posting this and for making more people hear this track. It's so important right now.
His release in that desert AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Is the same sound my heart made when my mother died from Covid . . I felt that part to my bones!!!
So beautiful! So inspiring!
Its okay buddy i teared up too. So damn good to see them back!
I loved this reaction, it's beautiful to see guys with your relevance in the hardcore/metalcore music scene sharing this opinions about the others and to know this stories, seeing that you look up to someone for what you do while thousands of guys like me look at you and at Vigil and all your bands as inspiration. It just flows everywhere and between everyone and that's great. Both the song and watching you crying gave me goosebumps, we're all human beings!
