As a middle state collector I feel that absolute pain of everyone on the west coast showing pictures of their stores with new stuff in a timely manner. Iowa might as be the land time forgot 85% of the time when it comes to new products (especially if it's a Walmart, I don't think my local Walmart has gotten a new toy since 2022 😂)
I PCS’d to San Diego and I thought it was going to be a collector heaven. The only places that get new stock in are local comic shops that then mark them up and even then it isn’t everything.
Fingers crossed for Darkstalkers, the Sota prototypes were amazing for their time, Jada would kill these designs! Hopefully we get Strider Hiryu and Captain Commando as well 😁😁😁

I loved the commentary about "old school" collecting! Don't forget, we were also trying to outrun the dealers and hot wheels guys that would always seem to show up a few minutes before we got there....it got to the point where we recognized what car they'd arrive in and at that point our enthusiasm would just sink knowing if there was anything on the shelf, it's gone now. Also dealing with the collectors that would run to the toy isle...I just couldn't bring myself to go there. I never needed anything that badly to where I'd run to the toy isle. It was cut throat back then but I miss it.
Oh yeah, pulling up to TRU right before open and they'd already be standing there every....single....morning, haha! I kinda miss it purely from a nostalgia standpoint but no way in hell I wanna go back to doing that on a daily basis.
Todd has a proclivity to not make female characters regardless of popularity because "boys walking down the toy aisle wouldn't want a figure of a woman over a figure of a man" Not understanding that his demographic is probably mostly adults and not children. I am hopeful that maybe he saw how quickly people jumped on that classic Wonder woman he released and has changed his tune about making female characters.

With Knightfall Catwoman, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Cassie Cane Batgirl, and Starfire all selling out incredibly quickly, I'd imagine that we will start seeing a better split eventually.
So excited to get more Jada Mega Man figures! At the very least, I want the Robot Masters from Mega Man 1 and 2, along with Proto Man, Dr. Wily, Dr. Light, Roll and Rush!

I worked at Toys R Us during those days and even I couldn't get everything I wanted. Our boss had strict rules when it came to employees buying collectibles. So I had to do my fair share of Walmart tours.

I lived in Georgia for a couple of years and you are completely correct Robo. It was nearly impossible to find any marvel legends. I ran into the ben Riley and symbiote spidey once, and that was it.
For me, toy hunting in stores is just a routine now. I do a 3-5km walk then check a store and head back. If I want a longer walk, it's 7km to check two stores. I never expect to find anything, but it rounds out my exercise on my fitness app. But when I do find something... then I'm buying it and heading straight home, no matter what my tracked walking distance is!
Haha, I do like to go around and walk the aisles after eating out at a buffet or restaurant, burns some carbs and see what the shelves and pegs look like.
I feel like, Robo should do segment similiar to "Tales from the Tubs" but called "Robo's Ramblings" and just let him ramble on about stuff like an old man lol.
Robo finally just got my Yolopark Megatron and Optimus yesterday, had been going through the struggle with you! Weirdly the megatron was already unsealed unlike the Optimus, however everything appears to be as it should

Even though I don't actively collect 6inch scale figures, this is one of my favorite yt channels. HAVING THAT SAID... I do own a black series 4-LOM, it's my favorite bounty hunter. And I don't own any "import" figures I AM going to buy that Mafex 4-LOM despite it being overpriced. I see it as a one time buy of something I love. Someday I'll be able to afford a Sideshow 4-LOM and someday I'll find a 12 inch POTJ 4-LOM, but until then... I'll have that Mafex 4-lom (and the black series one and the four 3.75 scale version of him, and the lego minifig, and the micromachines miniature, etc etc etc).

Oh yeah the Hunt. I actually sprinted when I saw Spider-Man Classics on the pegs at the Walmart. I don’t remember what I was looking for. Nevertheless as I turned the corner and saw those blister packs. I went into a different gear. Snatched up Amazing Spider-Man, Symbiote Spider-Man, and two others. I think one was Venom with that half transformed head look with Eddie Brock, and Man-Spider. Or it was Daredevil in one of those spots. Maybe it was all five? I can’t remember. It’s been 20+ years. I bought a bunch that day as one to stay in case and one to open. I still have the one I left in case for the classic red and blue. It may have started deteriorating already. I think there is a haze to the package like the plastic is off gassing. I may want you to check for toxicity…
I don't remember actually finding Spidey Classics, except that it was Nov or Dec. But man, that first time seeing Cap and Iron Man and Hulk on the shelf at TRU, that was the day I was out of 3.75 Star Wars and fully into Marvel and 6 inch for the long haul.
I feel like Mafex specifically made this 4-LOM specifically for me, because way back when that first C-3PO came out, I attempted to turn it into a custom 4-LOM and absolutely ruined it due to a heating mishap attempting to dye the joints. After all these years they're making my original vision real. Thank you Mafex lol
@RoboDontKnow So what I did was separate all of the joints and body pieces I could without actually breaking something, did the sanding to make the plastic receptive to the dye (in theory), and suspend them all with wires into a pot of black Rite synthetics dye. I followed the directions as best I could but I didn't control the heat well enough and many parts slightly melted and warped the shapes. The heat or something also made all of the plastic joints extremely brittle and they crumbled to pieces. Now I have very expensive 3PO droid scrap parts for dioramas. I was a lot younger so it was definitely a learning experience about doing tests rather than jumping in when it comes to custome work

Love your reviews, Robo. Have to take issue with that monologue at the end in response to the younger collector's comment. I am a midwest collector, first in Tulsa, now in Illinois. Been collecting since the late 90s. And there is NO comparison between collecting today versus then, in terms of product availability in stores. In both places I lived, there were so many more stores with so much more product that I could consistently find virtually everything I wanted with enough hunting, including most chases (McFarlane SportsPicks, Marvel Legends, Lord of the Rings, Starting Lineup, etc.). The only figs I ever needed to purchase online were online or event exclusives. Today...garbage. Far fewer stores carrying product at all AND far less product coming in, both in frequency and volume. The contrast between now and then is mind-boggling, and I can relate to the comment the other guy made, because I too wish for "the good old days". This nearly 100% online world has advantages but also stinks in some ways, such as it being useless even stopping at a store 90%+ of the time or more.
Yoo Robo dude, the weekend before these i got to feel a little like when i was 16 in highschool, when started to go to a mall called "Ley" where i used to find the spider-man classics and toybiz marvel legends waves, oohh man what times were those so awesome to see all the articulation in the figures. 🤘🤘
I was in Dallas, Texas last week (VEX world championships) and loved being able to go on multiple stores and find figures! You just can't do that in Europe anymore, especially where I live in Switzerland and where I'm from in the UK. I miss being able to hunt down figures. Still didn't manage to find Street Fighter Ken though sadly!
You mention Sebulba, and I do think it's likely happening. They went through the trouble of making the Black Series Anakin body, so I kind of suspect we get Podracing Anakin, and if that happens, Sebulba becomes much more likely as a companion piece.
The one and only DC character i want in translucent plastic is Deadman. I really want him. They already have the mold. It will be easy money in the bank
I think Mattel might have back in the day, maybe. That's the easiest figure to make cuz we already have him and they are doing everything but him. They only made 1 version and it was Target exclusive I believe

i think i may be in the minority, but i prefer the walgreens version of the surfer, hes shinier and his eyes have that black outline that matches the old kirby art i love so much. plus i prefer where the peg is on the board better..
Great weekly, when you got to the end talking about toy hunting. The fun we had , but Robo when you talked about you didn't have the clerks handing you stuff and telling you truck times. Lol I did. At Kaybee toys and Toys R Us. At KB they would set cases aside until i got there let me get what I wanted and put out the rest. That was mostly wrestling and Marvel figures but they would ask what I was looking for too. At Toys R Us they would tell me when to be there for the trucks and even leave what I wanted in the back as the last to pull out so I didn't miss it. The amount of DC Marvel and wrestling figures I got was crazy. I was just always super good to the staff and came in every week and would remember who they were. I also think I got my mom to make them cakes for Christmas so that helped, lol yes I was in my 20's. The other stores like Target and Kmart knew me but they wouldn't hold stuff. Man I miss those days.
Gah! I don't think a lot of employees stayed around long enough at my local TRU or Kaybee to get friendly with. And then it seemed all the late night stockers at Walmart hated the collectors. But we had quite a few Hot Wheels types always at the TRU front door in a morning and dumping the cars on the floor off the pegs, so I can see why we all got shunned.

No, say it in a mean way! 🤣. As a kid growing up in the 80s, being into the OG Star Wars line, our internet was the card on the back of the figure that showed the range. That was our only source of information about anything to do with the toys. We went to the toy shop, what was there was there. Stormtroopers were impossible to find. Wicket and the other Ewoks filled the bargain bins, and if you wanted anything else, you had to get your timing right or you missed out. There was no eBay. It was kinda cool in the sense you might have something in your collection that your friend didn't, and vice versa. So yeah, let's not complain about not being able to get stuff or having to preorder to ensure we do. 👍👍 #grownupbutstillakid
I don't usually talk about things going up for sale unless they get new pics or something, or I'm already talking about something else in the same line. Those were revealed a while back.
Nowadays, toy hunting is no longer feasible for most collectors (including me). If you couldn't find what you're looking for in the hunt, you just wasted your time and ends up regretting why you didn't preorder.
im 42 and miss the old hunt. i get "waiting for shit on the porch" anxiety, because i work second shift.. is it gonna be there before i leave? is it gonna be left out in the rain all day? porch pirates?!?! that and preorders sell out before im even aware theyre a thing. i remember when i was little, and my mom and grandma would be hunting down ninja turtles for me... specifically, i had to wait in the car while my mom ran into toys r us to find michaelangelo, because if i went in, i might get up to some bright ideas. now a days, people at stores have NO clue when deliveries are coming, and even if they did, all the figures are code named, so they don't even know what anything is. but speaking of Silver Surfer, i need him to complete my Annihilators group!! (since i missed the walgreens exclusive because i had no idea it existed)... apparently im just bad at my hobby >:(
I remember hunting 4 inch Gundam figures at TRU back in the day. One time I got super depressed after walking through a long aisle right before the section that I wanted and there was a different display there now. Turns out they just moved them over an aisle but it was a tense 15 min of searching and pondering my life choices in the meantime 😂
Oh man, when they went from the aisles to the X types displays, and then back to aisles it was always a rush of panic and excitement and dread and relief.
I´d totally buy Kelleran Beq, he was way too fucking cool on Mandalorian. Plus Ahmed Best deserve to have his Jedi figure out there for collectors. We probably gonna have to way for the Black Series version though.
The visor not matching the shade of gold on the costume drives me crazy. Booster always looks best when those two yellows/golds blend together. And Silver Surfer ALWAYS looks best with black eyeshadow, so I can't wait to finally get that fig for a retail price.

Love your reviews, Robo. Have to take issue with that monologue at the end in response to the younger collector's comment. I am a midwest collector, first in Tulsa, now in Illinois. Been collecting since the late 90s. And there is NO comparison between collecting today versus then, in terms of product availability in stores. In both places I lived, there were so many more stores with so much more product that I could consistently find virtually everything I wanted with enough hunting, including most chases (McFarlane SportsPicks, Marvel Legends, Lord of the Rings, Starting Lineup, etc.). The only figs I ever needed to purchase online were online or event exclusives. Today...garbage. Far fewer stores carrying product at all AND far less product coming in, both in frequency and volume. The contrast between now and then is mind-boggling, and I can relate to the comment the other guy made, because I too wish for "the good old days". This nearly 100% online world has advantages but also stinks in some ways, such as it being useless even stopping at a store 90%+ of the time or more.
Yoo Robo dude, the weekend before these i got to feel a little like when i was 16 in highschool, when started to go to a mall called "Ley" where i used to find the spider-man classics and toybiz marvel legends waves, oohh man what times were those so awesome to see all the articulation in the figures. 🤘🤘
I was in Dallas, Texas last week (VEX world championships) and loved being able to go on multiple stores and find figures! You just can't do that in Europe anymore, especially where I live in Switzerland and where I'm from in the UK. I miss being able to hunt down figures.
Still didn't manage to find Street Fighter Ken though sadly!
I've also wondered why there's always more firetrucks out whenever it rains.

You mention Sebulba, and I do think it's likely happening. They went through the trouble of making the Black Series Anakin body, so I kind of suspect we get Podracing Anakin, and if that happens, Sebulba becomes much more likely as a companion piece.

i think i may be in the minority, but i prefer the walgreens version of the surfer, hes shinier and his eyes have that black outline that matches the old kirby art i love so much. plus i prefer where the peg is on the board better..
Great weekly, when you got to the end talking about toy hunting. The fun we had , but Robo when you talked about you didn't have the clerks handing you stuff and telling you truck times. Lol I did.
At Kaybee toys and Toys R Us. At KB they would set cases aside until i got there let me get what I wanted and put out the rest. That was mostly wrestling and Marvel figures but they would ask what I was looking for too. At Toys R Us they would tell me when to be there for the trucks and even leave what I wanted in the back as the last to pull out so I didn't miss it. The amount of DC Marvel and wrestling figures I got was crazy.
I was just always super good to the staff and came in every week and would remember who they were. I also think I got my mom to make them cakes for Christmas so that helped, lol yes I was in my 20's.
The other stores like Target and Kmart knew me but they wouldn't hold stuff. Man I miss those days.
Gah! I don't think a lot of employees stayed around long enough at my local TRU or Kaybee to get friendly with. And then it seemed all the late night stockers at Walmart hated the collectors. But we had quite a few Hot Wheels types always at the TRU front door in a morning and dumping the cars on the floor off the pegs, so I can see why we all got shunned.
@@RoboDontKnow I also was in my early twenties and living at home because it helped my parents me watching my sister and helping when they worked so I had a lot of disposable income and I spent a lot of money at those places and my comic shop too.

As a kid growing up in the 80s, being into the OG Star Wars line, our internet was the card on the back of the figure that showed the range. That was our only source of information about anything to do with the toys. We went to the toy shop, what was there was there. Stormtroopers were impossible to find. Wicket and the other Ewoks filled the bargain bins, and if you wanted anything else, you had to get your timing right or you missed out. There was no eBay. It was kinda cool in the sense you might have something in your collection that your friend didn't, and vice versa.
So yeah, let's not complain about not being able to get stuff or having to preorder to ensure we do. 👍👍

I don't usually talk about things going up for sale unless they get new pics or something, or I'm already talking about something else in the same line. Those were revealed a while back.
Nowadays, toy hunting is no longer feasible for most collectors (including me). If you couldn't find what you're looking for in the hunt, you just wasted your time and ends up regretting why you didn't preorder.
im 42 and miss the old hunt. i get "waiting for shit on the porch" anxiety, because i work second shift.. is it gonna be there before i leave? is it gonna be left out in the rain all day? porch pirates?!?! that and preorders sell out before im even aware theyre a thing. i remember when i was little, and my mom and grandma would be hunting down ninja turtles for me... specifically, i had to wait in the car while my mom ran into toys r us to find michaelangelo, because if i went in, i might get up to some bright ideas. now a days, people at stores have NO clue when deliveries are coming, and even if they did, all the figures are code named, so they don't even know what anything is. but speaking of Silver Surfer, i need him to complete my Annihilators group!! (since i missed the walgreens exclusive because i had no idea it existed)... apparently im just bad at my hobby >:(
I remember hunting 4 inch Gundam figures at TRU back in the day. One time I got super depressed after walking through a long aisle right before the section that I wanted and there was a different display there now. Turns out they just moved them over an aisle but it was a tense 15 min of searching and pondering my life choices in the meantime 😂
Oh man, when they went from the aisles to the X types displays, and then back to aisles it was always a rush of panic and excitement and dread and relief.

The visor not matching the shade of gold on the costume drives me crazy. Booster always looks best when those two yellows/golds blend together. And Silver Surfer ALWAYS looks best with black eyeshadow, so I can't wait to finally get that fig for a retail price.
