@@SongsFromASuitcase Please react to Jamie Muscato's version of Meant to be Yours (the live version/bootleg is honestly better than the studio recording although the audio quality isn't as good), as well as Freeze Your Brain. Jamie brings a whole other element to JD's character, and I know I'm speaking for more than just myself when I say that we would love to see your reaction to it. I believe Carrie (Hope Fletcher) said in one of her videos that JD was totally psychopathic and that Jamie was "Scarilly good at playing that side of JD" (or something along the lines of that).
That makes sense, because that makes JD's abusive qualities part of a cycle.
I absolutely love Carrie as Veronica, but Jamie as JD always steals the show for me!

A lot of people commented he isn't super touchy because he is playing JD as an abused kid which is true and part of it, but also he is lying to her in this song. He is saying what she wants to hear to keep her from leaving but he is still going to kill other students. And you see that disconnect and it causes this visceral reaction she is desperately reaching toward him clinging to him trying to save what they have in a open vulnerable way whilst he is holding back and going through the motions because while he doesn't want to lose her his plans are more important.

I love the west end version of Heathers!! Jaime is THE best JD. In this version of Heathers JD is an abused kid, he is affraid of Veronica in this moment because she is being agresive.

Thank you for loving Jamie Muscato. People were making fun of him for having a “cowboy accent” so it’s really great that more and more people are loving his vocals. Yes, him hesitating to touch her up is a character choice as in that show, it is implied that his dad beat him up.

I interpreted him not touching her in a few ways. He is lying to her in this song bc hes still gonna kill other students regardless, he just doesn't want to lose her. He is also alluded to having been abused (he flinches away from her and stuff) so hes not super touchy because it's not something hes used to. And I also thought he might've been afraid to touch her at this point. He doesn't want to hurt her because hes seen how badly he hurt her before. JD is a complicated character, and this actors voice compliments his character SO MUCH!!
I had the luck of watching these two live in Heather’s West End and they’re even better on stage in their element, Jamie Muscato is definitely the best J.D in my opinion

I think with Jamie’s portrayal of JD (I haven’t watched his ver but I’ve seen a lot of it) he plays the ptsd really well. So when he’s not really touching her he’s mostly hesitant, scared he’ll be hurt again, being as most likely the most physical touch he got from his father was abuse. In the actual performance he’s also incredibly hesitant to even start moving towards Veronica
IMO It's a character choice.. He also flinches everytime she touches him in the musical and then it makes sense when he flinches when his dad raises his arm.. JD be traumatized. I can relate

Jamie is my absolute favorite portrayal of JD. He genuinely makes me feel bad for him and him and Carrie are so sweet in the beginning but he also does the crazy better than anyone else.

The Brazilian version was sooo amazing too! The guy who played the male character is Diego Montez, such a great actor, who also played Fiero for a while on the Brazilian version of Wicked.

Jamie Muscato has been my favourite for a while now. I just wish there is more content of his singing here.
I saw you asked abt why Jamie, playing JD barely touches Carrie, playing Veronica, and that's because his character grew up without a mother for most of his life, so he cherishes those memories. His father could care less about what JD does, so he never felt much love at home. The constant moving around also added to his mental issues, so he was always afraid of growing attached. He sees his mother's passion and love for him in Veronica, so he dares not to touch her in fear he hurts her. That's also why he chooses to sacrifice himself to save the school in the end. He says he doesn't want Veronica to leave like his mother.

So, I loved your video, and Carrie and Jamie always give me goosedumps, but there's one thing... Part of these facts is just incorrect. 1). Carrie was seven when she played young Eponine; then in 2013- early 2016 Eponine; late 2016 - Eponine, but in Dubai; in 2019 - Fantine, but in concert. Les Miz on West End, technically, never closed. Please, don't think it's hate - I just have no life :)

Another reason he's a bit hesitant in this song is she just gave him an ultimatum. She was dead serious that she woulf break up with him if he didn't stop going down the road he was on. They got into a bit of a fight that ended with her pushing him away from her pretty hard. He's probably having flashbacks to previous abuse but is fighting it in this moment to try to keep her. That's how I've understood it at least.

I bet a lot of of other people have said this but yeah, JD is abused in this version. I mean technically he is in the other versions like the movie and off broadway but like it’s definitely heightened here with big bud dean for literally shoving him and saying he’s useless. And as a character choice, I absolutely love this, I think that if a character has a sadder backstory it definitely heightens it, JD is that character, I love the character development for him. His actor is absolutely amazing, he was in les mis, and west side story and is just absolutely amazing in everything but heathers is my favorite performance by him, he constantly flinches throughout the musical whenever touches suddenly, at the start of the song Veronica shoves him over because she’s pissed with him for trying to get them to murder someone use (so yea understandable lol) but this scares him, he kinda loses trust, she wins him back for him to go ballistic again after I say no. Also I literally laughed when you said “Veronica gets all up on him while he’s more gentle” becuase that’s literally dead girl walking
