    Another question - once you have used that sponge for this aura nail in this video, is it able to be used again but with different colours or do you have to discard?

      Hi there! I sent you a long response, but it doesn't seem to have stuck! Maybe it doesn't want me to link products here...in any case, I bought them both from Ali express (VERY cheap) as well as Amazon.ca. They are cheaper on .com, however, if you're in the US. Look for "round ombre sponges." They all come with at least one wand and most come with several refills. Some have a bit of a point on them. No worries, they work exactly the same. As to reuse? Absolutely!! If you only use gel, and you know that you use a few colors often (black, white, pink etc) you can put the sponges in ziplock bags and use them many times- up to about a dozen. After that, they start to become gummy and break apart. Also, if going from a white ombre to say, a pink, you can sponge out as much of the white as possible on a piece of paper and then switch to pink or another light color. Of course, you cannot go from black to light colors. I don't recommend them for regular polish since they must be discarded. Acetone or nail polish remover makes them puff out to 3 times their size and they are unusable. In short, these are by far the best tools for ombre I've ever used. The fact that you use SO little gel paint and that they're reusable cinches it. Very economical. Good luck!

      I cleaned mine by dipping them in alcohol, squeezing them out with a paper towel until cleaned. Dark colors you can do the same but like she said you can only reuse them with dark colors.

    Hey there! What is the link to the round sponges you found on Amazon? I'd like to get some. I too struggle with finding the right sponge for all the reasons you mentioned at the beginning of your video

    Would a beauty blender work the same?

      If you mean the other sponges I showed at the beginning, no it won't work as well. The round sponge really gives that perfect, round effect. When I was first learning nails I tried everything, so maybe try and see for yourself! Good luck!

    Hey, how do you clean those brushes?

    • @tamarasnailology8245
      @tamarasnailology8245  Рік тому

      Unfortunately you can't. BUT you can reuse them if you keep them in little baggies if using them with gel. Since gel only cures in UV light you can reuse them several times. The most common colors to ombre are white and black so you can simply use those with those colors. If you tend to use the same colors over and over go ahead and save them. The only way to clean is with alcohol and its makes them puff out and unusable.

    Having a gel allergy doesn't mean you can't use gel polish EVER again, as she says. I have a gel allergy and I still use all my gel products all the time to make press-ons because it's alright to touch if it is cured. You just have to wear gloves and wash your hands a lot, which is what you should be doing anyway allergy or not.

      That's what I meant; if it's cured it's fine. It's uncured gel that touches the skin that is the problem. I have often, when working on a client, accidentally gotten gel on my gloves and I'm always glad at that moment that I AM wearing gloves! Thanks for clarifying!

      @@tamarasnailology8245 Thank you. Can you tell me why I keep getting bald patches in my aura nails?? What am I doing wrong?

      @@legbawilliams5076 It's possible that you're "lifting" gel you've sponged off of the nail if it isn't cured enough when you go to sponge the next layer. I have had that happen too- before I started using at least a 54 watt lamp (of which I now have several) and good quality paint gels. Even though the Clara gels are Amazon fids, they are very, very good. Some others, not so much. Kodi professional is my absolute favorite but expensive. Try, as an experiment, curing each layer for up to a minute. That should do the trick. UNLESS the bulbs in your lamp are starting to fade. That also could be a problem both in look and the potential for uncured gel. A great resource to know if your lamp isn't adequate is "The nail hub." Liz talks extensively and thoroughly about how to test if your lamp is adequate. Failing that, I swear by the SunUV 54 watt lamp available on Amazon. I have 4 of them and they've never let me down.

      @@tamarasnailology8245 I thought that might be the case. I think it may be time for a new lamp. Thank you so much for taking time to reply and for your opinion, I really appreciate it. I also wanted to apologize if my original comment sounded a bit snarky. That wasn't my intention. Thanks, again!
