So, this is the caricature people understand as social justice? I don't think you can say let's have a conversation if you start by calling an entire movement being a bully, based on a made up character. The saying is right, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
I agree, we need to emphasize redemption. But, when I see people talking like this and using this made up characters as a justification, I see that one side is criticizing the lowest (more immature) people of the other and the other is criticizing the people on top (with more power and the ones who drive the narratives) of the movement of the first ones. Then I realize which criticism is more relevant.

But nowadays people cancel anyone for any opinion which doesn't please the majority. The golden rule of punishments is that the intensity of punishment should correlate with how severe the act they committed.
So I'd say , the best thing to do would be to leave it to the judicial system to decide the punishment for each person's offences .

and boiling it down to "toxic masculinity" takes away from what cancel culture was even supposed to stand for in the first place. its supposed to keep ppl united and push forward ideas of standing up for yourself and others. its supposed to give a voice to those who would otherwise not have one. to not let ppl get away w doing and saying terrible things. cancel culture is so much more than fighting toxic masculinity, and i believe that translation error (and many others) is what turned it into the 'angry mob of bullies spitting into the echo chamber' it has become today.

Most of us in the “woke mob” aren’t so bloodthirsty that there’s no room to let a person learn from their mistakes, but there are plenty of valid reasons to call someone out for their shitty behaviour (let them know it sucks and why it sucks), distance yourself from them, or report them. To maximise tolerance, intolerance mustn’t be tolerated, or the intolerant will seize the means to decide who gets tolerated. There is such a thing as going too far, but “cancel culture” can’t be written off altogether, as it’s a powerful tool against otherwise untouchable, oppressive elites. And it’s nuanced. You have to think about who the person is, what they did/said, who it hurts, why it hurts them, and how the “cancelled” person sees their actions and carries themselves today in order to decide what an appropriate response would be.
Less sugar, more fruit. Less soda, more water. Less driving, more walking. Less worry, more sleep. Less words, more action
