The sunlight/daylight did come thru the high windows of Grand Central until surrounding buildings dwarfed the Terminal and blocked the light. The photo of the lady is beautiful Santa bringing joy.
Thank you for sharing the old photographs. They are really neat to look at. I especially liked the three sitting from the Mary Pickford movie and the little one petting the animal. Wish it did not go past so fast but glad to have seen it. Moments like that are so precious! Thank you again for sharing! I watched it again and love the little boy with the elephant and the Santa photo also! So precious, like little angels! I appreciate the pictures of hard workers and those who do great things too but these melt my heart. I guess that’s why we work so hard for them! You gotta love the children! That’s just so important! Love, love, love, love!!!!
I liv d about two blocks from no man’s land around the Berlin Wall . I still remember gun fire at night and the man that died just days before the wall comes down . I cried like a baby when it came down.
@@maymellor7592 a war over West Germany was an alternative. Not playing gms in Berlin post WWll. Do you know Berlin was in communist east Germany? & Allies had 1/2. USSR didn't lk that. Wall killed, tough on many. But War w Russia?
Reminds me of the girl with the green eyes picture. A photographer went back to her village thirty years later and found the girl as a mother. Her eyes hadn't changed a bit only line's on her face showed it had been many years in-between. She was as beautiful as ever.
Oh my, I was a year old when they started building the Berlin Wall. I remember being young and thinking it was ancient history. What a horrible misconception. I learned years and years later how I’m from an older family that usually only had 3 generations in a century. So with looking at time now, it’s like so close and not as old as my child perception was. My Grandpa was in WWI and with the treaty on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, my Mom was able to be born and our generations following. His Calvary was to cross at Noon on No Man’s Land. I’m so thankful for the Treaty Of Versailles. Mom told me about the soldiers from other sides sharing recipes during the night before. I really can’t imagine. Grandpa came home an was in the ticker tape parade on his was to the train station. For many that’s ancient history, for me. It’s my Grandpa. My sweet and amazing Grandpa. I really miss him!
The b/w pic of Grand Central station looks like an architectural wonder, with the sunlight streaming through the windows. I love the sweet 1921 silent film photo of a girl, a dog, a mule. The beautiful girl from 99 yrs ago looks so contemporary..! Except she's naturally lovely, without all the botox and cosmetic procedures....
I am fascinated by these old photos and can’t get enough!
Yes,clearly the architects would have had that in mind.
The sunlight coming through the windows at Grand Central Station is no longer visible as buildings now block the light.
Such beautiful and thought provoking pics

Love these old photos, it shows a certain time which makes the future of what we are and have.
The modern beauty is stunning.
That lady was very beautiful
The child with the elephant, that could’ve been my dad. He would have been six at that time.
That would be amazing

Which side of the wall were you on? That's so flipping sad!

That lady was truly beautiful. No fake lips, or Botox, etc., just beautiful. Mixed emotions realizing that she is probably dead now.
Probably dead? Why you think she's running around at 118 years old? I bet she was dead before you were born. Sad huh? I hate aging.

It was taken more than 100 yrs ago, so most probably. She won a Colgate contest for her smile.

I have a picture of Grandpa the day he was going over to France will he was in England. Shows the buildings on fire an the smoke in England.
The light will never enter the Grand Central Station through those windows again, as the high rises built around the Station now blocks the sunlight.

JFK response to Berlin Wall. "Good, beats tanks & war. Adlib there. But tanks true
It's Grand Central Terminal!!!
"did the architects have this in mind before building?"

.....*STAIRING* ISN'T A FUCKING WORD!!!
Thank you, I can't handle this. If you are not able to pronounce simple words correctly.....ugh
I don't understand the first part? Is there more context left out about the story? It just sounds stupid
Can do without the commentary!
The world is so fake now.... Filter me this, cry about that.
