Paul Taylor that’s because he is cool with 2/4 people lupe mentioned. One of which he has called many times while on his podcast and as lupe mentioned another he has done a sent down with. Plus he is cool with quite a few people in high places in Atlantic. However joe I think says some of those things, because he now sees it from their perspective though he doesn’t fully agree , and isn’t on their side he knows what they are doing is what’s in the best interest of them and their business.
Mr. G Joe is in bed with these folks and his opinion is slanted. Go watch the podcast where he defended Puff til the ends of the earth against Rory and Mal. It’s obvious He will not speak ill of those folks who he would’ve been at they throats with their treatment of Artists. Now his tone is completely changed since he’s “Retired “. 30:00 when Joe says we gotta get out of this oppressed state he makes a fallacy in his retorts. If you could just get out of that mindset, it wouldn't be oppressive.
@Katarina Love Yea I see how stupid I type. It wouldn't stop oppression but oppression is multifaceted and if the societal norms leads a population to think a distinct and submissive way then the mindset is oppressive because it puts one category of people over another. Society also perpetuates the idea. It ties into real research of sociology. Also Native Americans were oppressed in their mindset as well which did eliminate much of their culture. These things happened and it does no justice to any community to act as if it would be different IF something else were to have happened. In tactics of war propaganda and control over information and making a narrative that even your opponents abide to are very useful tools. This reigns true especially when population dynamics are one sided. I.e. Caucasian people make up 65% of the US. If they put a norm into society that places whites on a higher level than minorities and propagate that mindset into society, 65% will rally that idea in society and create a sociological narrative that places others on the backburned. There are many factors to oppression and oppressive mindsets are so powerful they continue for generations. This is a fact we see in African Americans, Native Americans, and Hispanic Americans. We even see that mindsets trickle down in the dominant communities. Caucasian tend to feel at they are at a higher position in this country based on the ancestors and their lineage. I.e. Trumps, Clinton's, Kennedy's, Roosevelt's, Rockefellers, Carnegies, Morgans, and the list continues. I may sound stupid but oppressive mindsets are a real topic of study in universities just by another name and there is research done to prove how sociological helps the subjugation of other peoples in a country. Please don't take my word for it. Join a class and explore you would be surprised to see how difficult it is to unlearn societal norms.
Ashan Grant no he doesn’t. He constantly bashes the industry. The difference is,.... lupe still bashing and joe grinded his way from radio station to leaving complex, to his own podcast to revolt with puff and the pull up series and sotc
Lupe needs to just do a J Cole and do lots features with other artists to show his versatility and then focus on putting out what he wants. That way he will draw new fans aswel as not sell out.
Clippa caddy J Cole has had several platinum selling albums which has put him on a God like status even amongst the youth. Any rapper would immediately feature him on a song. I’m not sure these new druggie rapper kids even know who Lupe is. They obviously wouldn’t be as open to collaborating.
that time has passed Lupe, he had that shot after the Cool. but his path is his path, he’s not going to be pulling any hot names to get in any track due to his current relevancy and i doubt he’d want to do anything like that

Respect the mans legend, sometimes I feel like this game will get you and shift the moral compass. I know he trying get artists to open up, but damn especially when they railroaded his music career.

Lupe would be the kind of artist that Tupac (an artist that a lot of people hold in high regard for his revolutionary stance on many things) would salute. Lupe ain't gonna stop until he sees change occur. Joe saying he still bitter, but Lupe is fighting for all of us, against a force that has monopoly over the whole game. Lupe needs our support 💯
Joe likes to drag everyone down with him and think his slick but we see through his antics. Lupe 10 times doper then Joe on all fronts musically! Damn Joe so corny man!
Man Lupe sonned Joe. Joe is an emotional based type character, that's why as soon as you talk books and reading he ran. Add bitter too, how he saying just because Lupe had some success he can't complain about being mistreated? Claiming Lupe is misinformed like he always like to say about people, but on the low its still about him being better and how he was the one who had it the worst?(trying to play the victim card) An as soon as he thought he had an argument, he quickly goes on a weak rant(like he does with everyone on his pod, note how Lupe told him straight up he talks alot) whilst Lupe from start till the end kept the same energy and showed towards the end that he is miles ahead of his conceptualization of what the real fight and how to go about it is. Worst off dude already refused to join Lupe and I bet it's because at the time he never found a way to understand it being about him like he always does(notice how he tried to compare the whole thing to the government). Joe lacks the type of maturity Lupe has to say I can still make music, or not fire my attacks at everyone as if they all sit at the same table as soon as you run into problems with a few.

dre edwards if it was that easy. Joe would just start HIS own label and do it himself too. These labels are too far in the game. They’re not going anywhere and are eating off back catalogs til the world ends. We can either help change who’s at the label, or join the labels as is, or retire.
@@rrorocket566 For reals, some of these labels are pulling 100+ mill a year and have been doing that for decades. Meanwhile more and more people are trying to get into music. The market is oversaturated with new players and the labels are far beyond being threatened by any indie artist.

SOSA is a union and rap school? What is SOSA? Lupe never made it crystal clear. Sometimes you have to spell it out. Break it down for the slow ones like myself. You have to make people truly understand the importance of the group and how it benefits them. Also, what was it exactly that Lupe wanted us to "SEE"?

Out of that 5 Marshall was the only real lyricist to be looked at universally as a GOAT and that’s because of one thing we all know. And that’s only because the real lyricists will never get the acclaim of the superstars and the entertainers. Mannnn 😂😂😂😂Folks say Joe is a genius tho. He really knows how to get things outta folks. Shiiiid...He tap danced all over the Atlantic convo and Lyor stuff. Talk about Social Distancing at it’s finest. Sheeeeesh!
Paul Taylor he kinda works at Atlantic that’s why he can’t really just shit on them
Paul Taylor that’s because he is cool with 2/4 people lupe mentioned.
I enjoy the podcast cause I know Joe talks shit about stuff. Industry talk turns into His friends and his relationship with them and how someway they are just good guys to him. Lupe told him stories of the fuckery and joe just laughed it off. Mannnn Cmon. Lol
Using context cues he's clearly being Devil's Advocate. Yes its completely fucked up to do but Joe is saying "BUT OF COURSE THEY WOULD DO THAT" because capitalism. Why wouldn't the big record label not see a rising star and try to milk as much money out of them as possible? Even Lupe acknowledges how genius the snake shit was but both of them do ultimately say it is snake shit.
Instead of seeing the larger conversation here - All y'all got is "Joe is so industry"
@Osana I also got besides Joe being "Industry" .....Most heads at these record labels are a piece of sh💩t.....Lyor, Kallman, and Steve Stoute is Infamous for being one of the worst Humans in the Entertainment Industry!
Osana AD exactly Joe is still exposing the industry
Know the music business. And not to sign to no label if u r a artist. Bcuz they are some real dirty mfs.
They stick to words that define their restricted point of view.
Joe knows the business and niggas don't wanna hear about the dirt underbelly
The second Joe hears the level of work it takes to make it to the meeting he says skip all that and just invite him. If Joe doesn't read or get a feel for the material why would they invite him to the meeting? Joe's lack of interest in the the technical attributes of musical science worries me and really drives home the point that not everyone could be in the group. Lupe said you cant just let everyone join, well Joe Budden is looking like a part of everyone.
Lol he had no idea that Sosa was even a thing and then found out that he had to read big books and study and take tests and play rap chess in order to even participate. It’s a big commitment and I’m sure that everyone who is apart of Sosa thought long and hard about their decision to join not in a split second.
To be honest i rather hear lupe rap over that pump it up beat
Lu probly is the best rapper of all time I agree cuz when I hear folks speak about Eminem I be like please lol
I'd go out on a limb and say Lupe is technically a better rapper than Em
@@kaliefhampton2483 you're going too far. On a lyrical spectrum yes but strictly technical in Audio and patterns then no.
@@radarinfinite1032 I like Em as a career artist more than Lupe, he has much more appeal its undeniable. Lupe's rap has more depth than Em, he weaves in and out of topics/idea more smoothly and attacks better concepts. Conceptually, Em has been lacking for about a decade or more
@@kaliefhampton2483 I get you. I was speaking on just the technical side, specifically the sound, rhyming. Imo Em is technically better and lupe is lyrically better. They are both in my top 5. I think Em has progressed technically and regressed with everything else except story telling
Imagine hearing Food & Liquor 1 as a demo 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
Marlo Dadon its out there
Joe is simply saying "I hear you, but that's how this business works, which is why I got out."
Joe was mad at the industry cuz he didn't get the fame and money he wanted now he got it he a advocate for them.
Ashan Grant no he doesn’t. He constantly bashes the industry. The difference is,.... lupe still bashing and joe grinded his way from radio station to leaving complex, to his own podcast to revolt with puff and the pull up series and sotc
@@djnes2k7 BUT.... THE INDUSTRY IS STILL SHITTY AF THO....HE CAN GRIND ALL HE WANTS.... DEM PPLS IS STILL DEVILS🤷🏾♂️
@@LegendaryVibes101 I'd love 2 hear lupe with a new artist but i hope he try's 2 make a good song instead of trying 2 be lyrical
that time has passed Lupe, he had that shot after the Cool. but his path is his path, he’s not going to be pulling any hot names to get in any track due to his current relevancy and i doubt he’d want to do anything like that
That masters in a suitcase shit is hilarious and sad at the same time.
Lupe Fiasco sounds like a very smart man . what they did to him break's my heart.
I wonder what made Joe flip...All I remember is him killing the industry forever and nows its a flip. Respect the mans legend, sometimes I feel like this game will get you and shift the moral compass. I know he trying get artists to open up, but damn especially when they railroaded his music career.
Its amazing how quickly people stop listening to you when you just giving the other side of an argument
He would have been a good fit on state of the culture
Better than fucking jixi can’t stand him
Amen my brother
@@vibingwithkingnephi5117 you don't like jinx lol
I like jinx but Lupe be amazing on that
Kampala Twich Tooo much flava, he and Joe would argue all the time
Long story short,Lupe got tired of doing the satanic rituals. So they cut him off.
Emmanuel Ayeni basically and Joe got packed up trying to be on that bullshit and got served. Then try to be on that memory loss bull shit lol he can’t use word semantics and devils advocate on intelligent people. Save him from self slipping in that baphomet.
When Lupe said they(record company) flew to purchase the original record Kick Push was sampled from? Bruhhhhh, that’s some evil genius pimpn type of shit.. that lets you know, how ever hard you’re working for your money? Somebody is working twice as hard to take it.
You missed the whole interview 🤣😂🤣
@@dpatrick813 not really hey.
Cumilous Cloud no he really did
Man Lupe sonned Joe.
You need to come knowledged up if you engaging with a nigga like Lupe. Theories and hypothesis don't always suffice in these kind of engagements. Bring 100% facts to the table not theories!
At the end of the video, I imagined Spike Lee and the movie "School Daze" with Laurence Fishburne yelling "WAKE UP!!" What has adjusted our attitude? Don't, be blind, Take it back 💸
So accurate
This would be a great pull up...
Joe tryna do (what I call) the "pain Olympics"...... Trying to convince Lupe that his career was worse and that Lupe shouldn't be mad, trying to justify every move Atlantic made.
Lupe def got black balled. He dropped them big names....👀
So joe is industry for preaching ownership? Y’all sound crazy
dre edwards what lupe is saying is that it’s virtually impossible to do it on that level due to the powers that be that are already in place. Going indie is wayyyy harder than people think.
dre edwards if it was that easy. Joe would just start HIS own label and do it himself too. These labels are too far in the game. They’re not going anywhere and are eating off back catalogs til the world ends. We can either help change who’s at the label, or join the labels as is, or retire.
@@rrorocket566 very true and not all great artists are great businessmen
@@rrorocket566 For reals, some of these labels are pulling 100+ mill a year and have been doing that for decades. Meanwhile more and more people are trying to get into music. The market is oversaturated with new players and the labels are far beyond being threatened by any indie artist.
Cloud Tribe this COVID stuff has level out the playing field everyone is lost in this music industry it’s kinda cool all of these new technologies and apps are coming out left and right I’m low key excited to see where this can take artists and record labels because truth be told no one know wtf is happening or going on even record labels are lost they doing the same thing as consumers they don’t know wtf to do neither I like it that way to that old sh*t doesn’t work no more out with the old in with the new
"We play battle rap with a chess clock " that's 🐐 shit🔥🔥🔥
Salute nytro on da intro... dope recap... we need a Lupe vs wale joint
SOSA is a union and rap school? What is SOSA? Lupe never made it crystal clear. Sometimes you have to spell it out. Break it down for the slow ones like myself. You have to make people truly understand the importance of the group and how it benefits them. As an educator, I am constantly explaining why the subject matter I teach is beneficial to the lives of my kids. I know teenagers who can't comprehend the purpose of an education period. Also, what was it exactly that Lupe wanted us to "SEE"?
Dame Dash been saying this
Joe was like
"What, Books? Reading? Working on the understanding of the art outside of just rapping? Build a foundation of knowledge before opening up to everyone?"
Nah I'm good chatty house and bartenders
Joe is the epitome of bitter. That Mandala behind his is dope. Lupe is too smart to talk to Joe. That is all.
“....They didn’t really speak highly of your name.” 😂😂😂🔥🔥🔥
His dear fall was the best out of all the remixes. Hes was Kendrick before Kendrick
but wasn’t suited for the main stage like kendrick is
Exactly
I've been waiting for this to be uploaded. Thanks!
This was a dope convo, two great minds
As a upcoming artist from Chicago this very informative Thanks Luoe for dropping Knowledge
Yo I hate when ninjas attack my short term memory 😭💯
this is one of the most insightful and funny interviews I've ever seen !
Joe has to play both sides because he is in the industry. Just not rap. He pretty smart. It's like he throwing Lupe Alley Oops and Lupe freaking them hoes.
Dope convo. Lupe and Joey are both in my top 10 rappers ever. Underrated rap legends.
When I first heard Lupe he became my favorite rapper. I still remember the day.
*Lu is a Top 10 lyricist in Hip Hop history. F&L, The Cool, T&Y, & Drogas Wave are are all good to great albums.*
Joe is as commercial and industry as the next slave..you think he’s doing the things he’s doing, rubbing elbows with certain cats, still trying to be relevant because of his talent? Hed sell his soul to be on top if he already hasn’t..Dont let these lost souls play & fool you..He knows what I’m talking about
1st GenTruther he sounds so dumb when he talks about this shit. Just stop it! Be funny podcast Joe cause that’s what he is now.
You clearly don't or didn't listen to a single word in this entire conversation. That's a dangerous thing, when people hear only what they choose to hear and ignores everything outside of that closed-box mindset. This video was how long? And you absorbed nothing from it other than "Joe is commercial blah blah" because everyone says that. You the slave here, think for yaself fam
We need a Lupe Biopic!
With so much wealth, why can not these brothers start a music industry?
They did... J prince Master p murder inc.
Didnt work
27:04 an there goes the Bophemet symbol. Slick sipping See!!!
Yeh I like lupe he should put his energy into music go independent and release new fire
If you didn't know how brilliant and next level Lupe was, you just need to watch the last 7 to 8 mins. This dude thought pattern and approach is way above these industry dudes, thinking they trying to make a difference. There's levels, he is genius level mentally and you got that with his rhymes.
These niggas is dropping gems on this one..this like my third time watching it
People forget Lupes whole first album was leaked months before release lol.
lupe age like a cartoon character, keep the face and change hair grey.
Someone please explain Joey’s joke at 43:52
the two best lyricists in an era, their verses were immaculate
Lupe ur a legend 🙌
I love seeing fans of joe commenting on this because everyone of his fans seems to be mature to a degree. Joe should be called out on looking dumb in this. ITS OK to validate and support the bullshit that happens to people like LUPE. It shows joe is becoming more industry by the day.
This conversation is so educational and intense in a good way
Lupe is NOT the greatest. But he IS the BEST. UNDENIABLE. Best rapper ever as far as skill. Along with the likes of Black Thought, Kool G Rap, Big Pun, Eminem, & Pharoah Monche. Out of that 5 Marshall was the only real lyricist to be looked at universally as a GOAT and that’s because of one thing we all know. And that’s only because the real lyricists will never get the acclaim of the superstars and the entertainers. Which is why Drake will always be over Kendrick and Cole and Jay and Biggie will always be over Pun and Rakim and Nas. It’s not right. Most ppl would put 50 over Lupe. It’s not right but it makes sense. POPULAR opinion due to the public not being properly informed by the industry powers that be...And that’s why a lot of legends will unfairly be forgotten
K Rino is also on that list. His skills and lyrical ability are next level
Got Pif ya know I always look at this in terms on the nba though, but it’s not an exact comparison, but a lot of overlapping similarities.
@@jobejacobs61 hell no? Elaborate. What can he not do on the microphone? He does everything that all those names on that list can do, and then some

You not giving Joe the credit he deserves. Joe has been jerked around in the industry longer than Lupe has. Joe on that "Djando Unchained" mind set. Only thing is that Lupe knows what it takes to not just "get to the table" but "set the table."
