In this clip, Rich Homie Quan spoke about getting on the radar of Think It’s a Game Records after he made some CDs that landed on the desk of the owner. After meeting with the owner, Rich Homie Quan revealed that he signed a contract, which Quan said was “okay,” and he revealed that he signed for $19,000. Rich Homie Quan explained that he asked to be paid $400 every Friday, which led to him treating everything like a job because he knew he’d spend the lump sum. From there, Rich Homie Quan revealed that “Some Type of Way” came out halfway through getting his $19,000, and he added that he never got the whole amount. He then explained that “Differences” was his debut single, and Rich Homie Quan revealed that he was a millionaire by that time.

What he's not telling you is they eating off all his publishing and have full ownership of the song is what it sounds like. . his approach was like telling a car dealership hey just make my car payment 200 bucks a month IDK about nothing else and that $8,000 car winds up being $21,950.00 over 7 years got it.

Quan didnt start the Deluxe but he may be the reason why ppl do Deluxe tapes the way they do them now. When ppl used to drop Deluxe albums, the deluxe would come out the same day as the base album (ex. Finally Rich, Tha Carter 4, Get Rich Or Die Tryin, etc). RHQ is probably the first person I can think of who did a deluxe and released it weeks/months after the base album dropped
nah Lil Uzi repopularized the deluxe the way he did Eternal Atake's deluxe and how much it boosted his album sales the next week. A deluxe in the streaming era is just a cheatcode
