Used on 4x4 wood prying, cutting carpets, rubber mats, hundreds of boxes to flat recycle, ties, vinyl flooring, tape galore. It never bent or disappointed. Dropped dozens of times off of other boxes and such. Hundreds of hours of use. Amazed how it held up. Love that knife.
Me, too, though maybe not quite so grubby! A knife a machine, worthy of respect, but still just a dumb object. Its owner is free to do with it as he likes, though I for one would rather carry around something nice, than something ugly. If I had a dirty job, it wouldn’t matter!
I’ve been using a gen 6 spanto in s45 for a while now. I put a steeper edge angle on it when I got it and just stropped it so far since. Next time it needs sharpened though, it’s going to BGM to have a hollow grind thrown on it. Will make it ideal for my daily needs being a cnc operator and cutting my share of rubber hose, heavy zip ties and a ton of boxes/tape. So far, the s45 has proven to be treated well after I get past the initial factory edge.
Great video! You are actually the person that pushed me to go and order me one. It's currently on the way and I'm super excited. I have the 0562 and just needed to know what a real hinderer was like.
They say the ZT is just as good, and some even say it’s better, but I must say, the ZT somehow lacks the full character of the Hinderer, i.e. the Hinderer has more character, even brand new. They are both very good knives, that will satisfy almost anybody!
I love the working finish I always clean my blade off and then wipe it with frog lube. I cut a lot with it but it looks brand new except the edge is rolled a bit and needs to hit stones. The finish basically looks brand new.
Yeah hinderer's stonewashe holds up very well, been doing lots of abusive things with mine like cutting a metal door, prying open doors and hitting concrete with it and so far its held up well except for a few scratches and a few pits from a nail gun. But overall it I lost or it finally gave up I would buy a new one.
I know I’m super late, but is that scale anything other than the run of the mill regular Hinderer Black G10? It seems more vibrant... maybe it’s the lighting.
I have had at least on Hinderer that i carry constantly. Right now its a DLT no choil slicer 3in and a usamadeblade skinny harpoon full ti. I carry them on n off through out the week. They put in as much work as i do and dont complain as much as i do lol.
Most of the pressure is mitigated away from the pivot area by the external stops. Ive never had an issue with it. On newer Hinderers, the tri way pivot system allows you to swap between PB, nylon, and bearings. I'd probably switch to PB anyway if I was really gonna beat on it.
see for my personal collection i have niches that i have, light duty edc, heavy edc, then construction work knives, i only ever have two in each niche so id prob have to sell my custom manix
I have put my ZT 0909 thru a whole lot more punishment than this and all I ever do is dawn dish soap and strop the edge up and it is a freakin TANK yet it handles fine tasks like its it's job lol my custom ground xm18 fatty does not get used simply because of the cost/value thing, I picked up my ZT 0909 for $100 new and I swear it will pound in a nail if I need it to and still be smooth as butter but my $600 hinderer is going to stay a $600 hinderer if you know what I mean... But a great place to purchase hinderer customs or reg hinderers among many other knives is "steel addiction knives" website
currently carrying the Socom Elite Tanto..... LOVING THE FATTY HINDERER! ehhh not a fan of the flathead and no lockup steel replacement ability. small dislike would be the square "lanyard loop", but thats opinion based.

^from the man himself^
Ya got to see some of it to believe it not doubting butt..
This comment, is the reason why i am gonna buy mine later today! IT says ore than all the "reviews" online. Thank you!

Why would you doubt a hinderers ability to do any of that? I've done all that with a $17 Ganzo FH11, so imagine what my XM24 has seen.
I actually like the look of that tarnishing/finish on the blade before it was cleaned!

@yankee2yankee216 the ZT was as good or better around 2013/2014. This I'd definitely not the case anymore.

I want the XM-18 Fatty to be my first Hinderer and you just solidified that decision.
This is by far, my favorite variant to date. They need to release this again, especially with the triway

Goo Gone works good for cleaning gunk off of a knife. And Coon P for lubrication.
Good video sir Hinderer knives awesome
I'm looking into getting a Hinderer Eclips what's your thoughts on that model and it's tri way pivot.
That’s the way I like my knifes to look👌
Found your videos from the mkt s90v videos. Where are you in KS? I live near Overland Park

Black/green 😊
It held up, and tttt (to tell the truth), it looks terrific!

Great video! Thanks!
6 years of use I'm sure it will still look great. Love that blade shape but I hate sharpening a tanto so thank god they have a harpoon spanto
Does lateral force cause bearing to deform titanium scale? Since no steel washer

Do an update on the knife.
I have a gen 4 xm18 3.5 drop point i believe in battle grey and it is used alot lol
Yep.
I traded my firetac for my first od green xm18. I get it today and stoked. But i buy knives to use just for camp, food prep, cardboard etc.
see for my personal collection i have niches that i have, light duty edc, heavy edc, then construction work knives, i only ever have two in each niche so id prob have to sell my custom manix
It's all your fault, but I just picked up an XM-18 3.5 harpoon spanto with red G-10 from DLT lol
Me too 😉
I look forward to your video on it 🤞
Your detent must be strong when you can flip like that! My spanto is weeeeeaaaaak
Do you have a gen 6 or older?
are zt hinderers better built than the ones from hinderer himself?
No
The actual Hinderers are noticeably better
