Do you need a BMW specific battery for that? MY brother had one and tried to replace it with a aftermarket one and had all kinds of electrical gremlins.
Regarding those Clymer manuals, are you aware of Floyd Clymer, once the youngest new car dealer in America and a key figure in antique automobile and motorcycle history? Look him up! :>)
I would love to see more work being done on the DeLorean. Perhaps the owner will bring it back next year.

The front forks probably need reconditioning too, since it has a couple of rubber seals in them.

You are going to need to look at the carb and its rubber hoses. Common failure point.

Do not skip on changing the brake fluid too. At that age its going to be black.
