This is such an amazing movie. The acting from the two lead men, especially Rutger is something that couldn’t be duplicated. And unfortunately the remake was just an insult to this movie and these two who gave such an amazing performance!!!
Mark did a remarkable job with this score, among the best film scores in my CD collection!! " Cars and helicopters" is such an intense and fastpaced action cue. Every track Mark isham composed for this incredible score is stunning and this magnificent score he did is one of the many reasons why im thrilled that movie scores are available just as much as regular albums by vocal artists. Mark isham's score to the Hitcher is blazing!!!!
This film is so ludicrously neglected. It's a classic of 80s genre cinema yet no blu ray release??? This film has incredible cinematography and atmosphere, both of which suffer in the crappy DVD releases.
For real, this is one of my favorite movies my dad and I watched growing up in the 80s. The shots are stunning for being a thriller..shame it has never seen a Blu Ray release yet.
It's not ludicrous at all. The majority of movie-goers are nothing but a bunch of total simps and weaklings. Movies like this aren't for the many. They are for the few.

Totally agree with you. This original had all the magic.
100% agreed!
The remake was laughable and - as you said - an insult.
You can't re-create such a griddy atmosphere as in the original.
The remake is not even close to the 1986 original.
One of the greatest films of all time
And most terrifying

Stunning, sexy, mysterious 80s synths ! I love this soundtrack and love the movie it's so scary but good.
This is the chase theme from "The Hitcher" (1986), with the Mark Isham's keyboards.

You can get it on blu ray from a German mediabook that is region free.

The Hitcher is now going to be remastered.

Rip :Rutger Hauer,
One of the very few Male lead horror films where he survives. I'm really sick and tired of female leads in horror films. We need a change up.
Lol
Never saw this comment before. agreed…and I’m a female
