Was recommended to me. Got it at a great price as it was a display model. Should serve me well for the rest of my fishing life I think. Just in the process of selling stuff off and buying stuff I am actually going to use.

Great combo mate, I have a very similar combo. I've have a 14000 Ultegra XTC CI4 matched with a Aerowave 13 foot Heavy, Top Notch 👍🏼
Yeah they are great rods and reels. great value for money IMO.
I just wish the drag click was much louder. Great reel, but soooo quiet.
Personal preference I guess, I like them quiet. I love this reel especially for the price point.

What would you say is a good size for the surf, like if you want to soak bait and then switch to throwing lures? And what size rod to pair it with? Been looking at this reel. Seems amazing for the price point.
Well You want a decent casing reel, so in my opinion this reel is great. you wouldn't want anything smaller than a 6000 reel and a 10' rod. most beach rods are 12' long.
@@MikesManCave You think that a 6000 would be suitable for tossing some lures around as well?
@@jameshyatt1465 Many people use a 6000 sized reel, I would not go out and buy one that size for the purpose, but if you already have one it would be worth using. I think the reel in this video is the perfect surf casting reel and probably the best your money will buy around this price point.
@@MikesManCave No doubt! I’m gonna most likely be soaking bait most of the time but also, I wanna throw some spoons maybe some swim baits etc. I’ve got another light-ish tackle set up for that. Just looking for some diversity. Appreciate the advice
@@jameshyatt1465 I have just sold most of my fishing gear and replacing it with stuff I will actually use, keeping this surf rod, bought a 8' heavy duty rod and just uploaded the video of my new Shimano medium weight rod I bought myself. Have a few more reel videos coming up, and I will then do a video on all my rod/reel combos that I own and why I have them. video probably a few weeks away. subscribe and keep an eye out for it.
Is the Speedmaster as good as the new Ultegra components wise? What about smoothness and casting distance? Anyone has any idea between these two reels? I appreciate any help!
I only own this one, so can not compare, but I highly doubt you would notice much of a difference, this is a brilliant reel designed for long casts with the way it lays the line and the extra wide spool. Love this reel and would never part with it.
@@MikesManCave Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it! Does this reel only come in the 14000 size? I tried looking for a couple of smaller sizes but I can't find any. If they make smaller sizes would you tell me where I can buy it? Anyway, if there are any other long-cast reels out there in the market I would like to check them out as well!
@@grandwonder5858 Never seen a smaller one at any of my local shops. Just did a quick search and these are about $260 now in Australia, I doubt you will find a better reel for $260. Absolute bargain at that price. Go check one out in person and let me know what you think.
