I always thought the 870MCS was a pump action sniper rifle. I would 1-2 shot people from such long ranges, it was incredible. Noshahr Canals was a great map to use the 870.
The traditional video-game shotgun is just the most obvious example of the fact that almost ALL the guns have poor range. The other end of the problem is video game sniper rifles. Developers decide they need to implement a sniper rifle in games with no shots past 100 meters, then scale all the weapon's accuracy and damage down so you need that sniper to kill something that IRL would be considered close range for any rifle. My first time playing a game like ARMA was a revelation. "...I have an M4 with iron sights and you want me to engage at 300 meters? ...oh...it works. Wait, that's the real effective range."
Do it. It's a huge game, it takes a while to learn. But it's worth it. My channel has some arma content, but I'm just starting out. If you wanna check out some folks who can really show the game off look up Leutin09 and TheSherminator. ARMA is at it's best when it's multiplayer combined arms PvE, with a player game-mastering the opposition and changing the scenario on the fly in response to what the players do. btw if you want a game that's a bit narrower in scope and more focused on delivering PvP infantry combat check out Squad.
Cargo_Vroom rainbow six is good about this but it's sorta frustrating when you're playing with a sniper or dmr and a defender breaks open a window snipes you with an mp5

it's not that they get it wrong, they just have to have a balance in the game. if shotguns were as powerful in games as in real life, it'd be unbalanced. battlefield does still do it right actually but it is still balanced because they have actual bullets and travel time, not just a laser (cough cough cod)
and they typically lower the damage of the Saiga balance it's high rate of fire compared to pump or break action shotguns. So Saiga is high rpm lower damage, pump is higher damage lower tpm
Brit Gilpin video games actually gets it wrong in both directions. A shotgun actually is not that powerful, but has longer range than portrayed. 00 buck, all pellets combined, produces 1400-2500 ft-lb of energy depending on the load which decreases rapidly as it travels through the air. By comparison 5.56 m855 generates 1850 ft-lb of energy. Thus you could say that point blank, a shotgun loaded with 00 buck is the same or slightly better than an M16. For comparison, a 7.62x51 will generate 2700 ft-lb from the muzzle. Yet in video games, shotguns will 1hk you point blank, even against armor, but not an M16 or a battle rifle.
FruityBunBuns yep pretty much. If videogames were "balanced" as IRL, no one would use a fucking shotgun. There's a reason everyone **including CQB types (SWAT, spec-ops, etc)** have switched over to a carbine..... shotguns suck beyond that first round (high recoil and typically only about 6-8 rounds and no, no one is gonna run around with that bulky, massive, heavy, and unreliable drum) at anything beyond 50-60 yards max (slugs suck at anything beyond you sitting still shooting someone sitting still at sub ~120 yards and again, bitch recoil). Not to mention if you have to take an accurate shot you're absolutely screwed. Yeah they aren't accurately portrayed in video games as far as their "power" goes (and like you said, nothing is. You throw in your 7.62 "battle rifles" as well to your equation and they dwarf the shotgun) but video games don't portray realistic recoil, aiming, weapon weight/size/bulk, ergonomics/handling, body armor/armor penetration, or true ballistics (not even Arma) either.
Tuptmore3 I'm not all that convinced that saying shotguns are a bad choice but could be more accurate to say a situational choice. There are a wide range rang of shotguns from automatic to pump action double barrel. In a situation where accuracy is overrated an AA 12 can be a good pick, fully automatic, little to no recoil, lightweight, and a normal magazine as well as drum.
A Pimp Named Dynamite There is nearly no situation where a shotgun is superior to a rifle as a combat weapon. The AA-12 has a slow rate of fire, long sluggish recoil, and is extremely heavy at 15 pounds fully loaded. That's just slightly less than an empty M249, and almost double a fully loaded M4. What would be the point when 5.56 dumps as much energy on target, but with much faster and easier follow up shots, as well as all around superior ballistics? Consider also that the AA-12 has no military or LEO adopters.
The rifling on a slug does not allow it to spin, as the soft lead will not dig into the barrel and incure friction. They are too thick to cause a spin by aerodynamic means too. Slugs are stable because they shift their center of gravity far forward, cause the lightweight rear to be affected by the air and stabilizing the projectile. This is done by permanently attaching the waddling to the slug, or making the slug hollow from the bottom up.
Hears blyat syoka 50 meters away, and im like i got a titan armour with a good helmet that fucking scav shot me 4 times with a toz and i died meanwhile at labs me and my friend pumped 20 Shells each in hes feet and hes still blyating around and dabs on us.
No offense but I'd say your grasp on shotguns seems to be moderate at best. A choke can influence spread but the type of shot you use makes a much bigger impact. If you used a modified choke (most allowed spread) with FF shot (giant ass pellets that typically only fit 2 or 3 in a standard 2.75 inch 12 ga.) you'd still have a tighter shot than #8 shot (tiny pellets usually numbering in the 250-350 per shot) with a full choke (tightest spread). Also velocity is a HUGE factor. If you have 6 shot low brass vs 6 shot 3" with high brass with the same choke you'll have a much tighter shot with the 3" high brass. This whole video just seemed half baked. You're not wrong it's just that you leave so much out.
Conner Lee Funny that you're trying to call him out for not knowing while making up random stuff yourself. FF shot is ~.23 caliber so you can fit around 30 in a 12 gauge shell, much smaller than ordinary 00 buck. Velocity also increases spread since there's more deformation on the shot at ignition. Higher brass also means nothing, it's normally just an indicator rather than a feature. It's like claiming the color of a 12 gauge shell determines power. Also cylinder bore is the most open choke, modified chokes are fairly restricted, just under full chokes.
Savio Strawn I misspoke about the velocity, and simply misinformed about FF shot- I concur. As far as basically saying color matters when talking about an indicator, I don't see any difference between using high-brass as an indicator for generally higher powder quantities than any other general term for specific properties of ammo (example- "green-tip 5.56" is understood to be AP for that caliber, even though it's no different than saying the color of the projectile has to do with performance). You were right with my understanding of the FF shot and I had a simple flip on my comment about velocity in relation to the pattern of the shot.
Conner Lee Think of this stuff as more of an introductory. It's meant to appeal to the Call of Duty/Battlefield game players who think shotguns are only good for 5 - 30 meter engagements. This is more along the lines of a "light knowledge" sort of deal, to spark the interest of the CoD player to go out and learn more about their favorite gun from x video game.
The thing is as videogames go it isn't exactly great coming down to one thing in military shooters. Vests. Generally speaking, in say, Battlefield 4, your character is equipped with a standard issue ballistic vest, likely with plates inside. While it would knock you down, probably knock your breath out, and may break a rib or two, buckshot, or even SLUGS probably aren't going to penetrate and kill you. Remember, these plates are designed to stop rounds from your standard RIFLE, which generally is going to have a bullet going a LOT faster than a slug from a shotgun, PLUS because the rifle bullet is smaller, and likely comprised of additional, stronger materials than your average lead slug for a shotgun, its going to have more penetration power because of both the stronger material and the energy of the bullet being directed more precisely at a smaller point.
Right on! Makes me want a saiga. I been trying to improve my shooting stance and noticed you should do what I have been told to do, turn your hips and shoulders to face your target, makes a difference for me.
In battlefield 4 you can put on different types of chokes, and you can use both buckshot, darts, slugs and explosive ammo for your shotgun. Sure the spread is far too big, but it gives a pretty good representation of how shotguns work. I actually often use the saiga with slug ammo. It's basicly like a semi auto sniper.
You're correct there, but in hardcore, explosives become extremely powerful. Unfortunately, the muzzle velocities of rifles are nerfed severely compared to real life, so you can't back up to long range. On top of that, soldier movement is too fast for... ya know... soldiers. A loaded rifle with 7 mags in reserve, a loaded pistol with 4 reserve mags, gadgets and equipment, armor + helmet + clothing... you can bunny hop corners with all that weight for mysterious reasons.
Rob if you don't have one get a Saiga 410 and buy a Kicklite stock for any Saiga , trust me the Kicklite on the Saiga 12 is AMAZING....I have the 12, 410, .308 and 7.62 versions.....the 410 is amazing converted to a AR from the hunting stock
Seeing you rest the magazine on the ground while aiming makes me cringe, makes me think of the kind words my drill sergant would of told me had i done that
Payday 2 still provides long range capabilities for shotguns thanks to the posibilty of changing ammo type. Shotguns are some of the most popular weapons in the game Edit. Just looked at my payday 2 loadout and im currently using a saiga. What a coincidence
In payday a shotgun is basically a sniper which doesn't require aiming - you don't even have to look in the direction, you just magically headshot everyone.
Videogames don't underestimate shotguns they have to balance weapons and there is suposed to be a choise if you want something full auto a sniper or a shotgun for close range just imagine how your favorite shooter would be if everyone has a full auto long range shotgun i know that he said that it needs to be balanced at 5:19 but that doesn't mean videogames underastimate shotguns
Mass Effect has guns that fire tiny little bits of metal at relativistic speeds which is actually physically impossible because the projectiles would vaporize due to friction, anyway it has absolutely nothing to do with real life guns.
I miss BF3. Used to run a shotgun all the time. swapped for a scope/slug for large outside zones, and then switched to either flechete or buck depending on what kinda interrior im in. More games need to have multiple ammo types on shotguns.
I Think eveyone would agree that about 70 meters is definitely sniper-territory due to that being such a super long range. And everyone knows you want your super high magnification 4 Power optic on a trampoline mount (4:20) when you put it on your kalashnikov-shootgun-sniper-rifle.
This actually happens all the time from people that actually shoot guns. There's a reason why shotguns aren't fielded as combat weapons. Just look at the energy charts and wound patterns of shotguns and compare them to rifles and you'll see that shotguns are completely outclassed
There's two types of people, those who think shotguns rip apart space-time with their power and the people who believe "oh no we cant let you have high powered weapons, you only need a shotgun" as if a shotgun just tickles people.
ytmndan I think magazine fed semi auto shotguns are all unreliable. Failure to feed ans failure to eject issues with all of them... I want one so bad though. I have a Mossberg Maverick that has never given me any problems..
It's about time someone educated the masses about how lethal a shotgun really is. I own a Remington 870 tactical, and it is, without a doubt, a badass piece of perfection.
I own a Shotgun and to my knowledge the length of the spread depends on the length of the Barrel; the shorter the barrel the wider the spread, the longer the barrel the narrower the spread.
You know a lot if people get stuff wrong about shotguns... if we all think back to the news saying an ar15 is a killing machine and should be illegal, around that time infowars had a clip where they took out ted Nugent to show that a Simi auto ar15 is digsgit compared to a double ought buck pump shotgun.
Steel shot isnt similar to buckshot, and the rifled slugs are not to stabilize the slug in flight, it is to help the slug swag in the bore of the gun to prevent overpressure. The hollow in the base is to expand and seal the bore behind the slug. And you can get chokes for the saigas. Some models even come with them. He definitely does share a lot of misinformation in this video.

😂 can't say the same with a saiga 12 gauge with full choke, red dot, and of course buck shot. Just go around trigger happy and get 60 kills easy 🙂
I remember shooting my double barrel shotgun on long ranges on bad company 2 hahaha

Frederik Andersen Ironically in that game, rifles are far too weak in comparison
Raspica Blue Gaming If you play hardcore most of the guns usually excluding some smg's and rifles it gets close enough
Frederik Andersen yeah but in real life also flachettes are completely useless and tear up the inside of the barrel
Shotguns are so bad in games that I literally never use them.
Rob be like "Say something about my 4 rotor Lil bitch"
Can u actually put a Suppressor on the Saga 12 like in PUBG?
Mr.Unkown TUUF yes you can, however it is almost never used because it doesnt decrease the noise nearly as much as in videogames.
Oh ok , thx alex
Oh ok , thx alex
And In PUBG it actually decrease the sound so #gamelogic kind of
Theoretically you can put a suppressor on any gun with the right tools
Rob if you don't have one get a Saiga 410 and buy a Kicklite stock for any Saiga , trust me the Kicklite on the Saiga 12 is AMAZING....I have the 12, 410, .308 and 7.62 versions.....the 410 is amazing converted to a AR from the hunting stock
Seeing you rest the magazine on the ground while aiming makes me cringe, makes me think of the kind words my drill sergant would of told me had i done that
Payday 2 still provides long range capabilities for shotguns thanks to the posibilty of changing ammo type. Shotguns are some of the most popular weapons in the game
Edit. Just looked at my payday 2 loadout and im currently using a saiga. What a coincidence

In payday a shotgun is basically a sniper which doesn't require aiming - you don't even have to look in the direction, you just magically headshot everyone.
bro... anything in that game is a sniper f*ck me ı used minigun to kill SWAT snipers lul
Well, it does
@@seagull7194 no it does not they know how op a shotgun would be

Quad rotor, quad rotor, wherefore art thou quad rotor?
nice video and nice that u mentioned the balancing in video games
The shell almost landed vertical
Actually Mass Effect 3 gets the spread pretty right It's still about twice the spread of the actual Saiga12 but Mass Effect is still a video game.
Mass Effect has guns that fire tiny little bits of metal at relativistic speeds which is actually physically impossible because the projectiles would vaporize due to friction, anyway it has absolutely nothing to do with real life guns.
I love how excited you get. Like a kid in a candy store. Its the best part of these vidoes man
Eh..its mostly to balance them. Otherwise...hell....
I put slugs and a scope on the Remington 870 and used it as a sniper rifle in Roblox Phantom Forces
1 game which did it right
I miss BF3. Used to run a shotgun all the time. swapped for a scope/slug for large outside zones, and then switched to either flechete or buck depending on what kinda interrior im in.
More games need to have multiple ammo types on shotguns.
if you put a drum mag you at least could have said there was a rotary in the video

Reality:Shotgun can shoot at long ranges too
Game:That too over power for gameplay
Rob: (talks about shotgun choke)
Me: "Ah, I see you're a man of culture as well"
I Think eveyone would agree that about 70 meters is definitely sniper-territory due to that being such a super long range. And everyone knows you want your super high magnification 4 Power optic on a trampoline mount (4:20) when you put it on your kalashnikov-shootgun-sniper-rifle.
Sarcasm much
ive literally never hear of anyone saying "Umm actually shotguns arnt that powerful irl". Like this has never happened
This actually happens all the time from people that actually shoot guns. There's a reason why shotguns aren't fielded as combat weapons. Just look at the energy charts and wound patterns of shotguns and compare them to rifles and you'll see that shotguns are completely outclassed
Shotguns, while against unarmored targets, are godlike in combat, but while in combat against armor...your done.
Baker Tankersley when are you going to be fighting unarmoured people you should always assume for the wirst
There's two types of people, those who think shotguns rip apart space-time with their power and the people who believe "oh no we cant let you have high powered weapons, you only need a shotgun" as if a shotgun just tickles people.
Wow. I never knew that. Thanks for the info
I'm just saying the shotguns in games are bad because if they were like how they were in really life then they would be over powered
Luck Duck Every weapon would be overpowered if it was like in real life.
in bf4 shotguns are overpowered

You know a lot if people get stuff wrong about shotguns... if we all think back to the news saying an ar15 is a killing machine and should be illegal, around that time infowars had a clip where they took out ted Nugent to show that a Simi auto ar15 is digsgit compared to a double ought buck pump shotgun.

Daniel Smerald dude, he’s talking about how the gun works in real life. He’s not comparing to COD.
Spiff Kid except he’s inaccurate about some major points of how it works in real life
Steel shot isnt similar to buckshot, and the rifled slugs are not to stabilize the slug in flight, it is to help the slug swag in the bore of the gun to prevent overpressure. The hollow in the base is to expand and seal the bore behind the slug. And you can get chokes for the saigas. Some models even come with them. He definitely does share a lot of misinformation in this video.
