I think what your hearing is our genuine frustration that a company like Cheyenne - who have made so many great machines - have got it so wrong with their first wireless machine. Chris and I both thought that the Cheyenne machine would be ‘the one to beat’. Sadly, it’s so fundamentally flawed that it’s not even a contender. I predict that Cheyenne will ‘update’ the controls of this machine before the end of next year. Every artist I’ve spoken to whether they like the machine or not agrees that the tilt control is pointless, counter-intuitive to use and gimmicky. Watch this space.
I know man Cheyenne is like apple they just make a good quality machine with there rules and we must adopt to it but I must say that this is a great machine after all I think we must just get comfortable with the gesture controls and be a pro in listening to the machine rather that having a display

I respect work you put into video mate great looking video and know how much time it takes. Yet I totally disagree on your verdict :) I feel that some of your CONS come out from the way you got used to work bud e.g. potential contamination whilst changing voltage is as good as not knowing equipment standards - shouldn't exist, period :) You answered yourself with ergonomics disposable saves it all (although I don't mind mine it's small enough in a hand anyway). So once again real cool video mate, and let me know if you want to get rid of it lol I'd happily grab another one on bargain :D
Thanks, but my opinion on the potential of cross contamination still stands in the voltage change. If you have a cart that decides to start spitting ink, which can happen occasionally then that is where the risk comes in. Ergonomics for sure the machine isn’t comfortable, I have the sol nova and only use that with disposable just because it’s more comfortable that the solid tube design. Haha we gave away the sol nova already but thanks for taking the time to comment and watching 🤘

Hi thanks so much for the message. I was genuinely disappointed with the Cheyenne. There’s so much they could have done with that, if they had the right feedback during the design phase. Ahhh you know what it ive tried the flite x1 and it wasn’t for me, didn’t feel comfortable to hold, the balance was off, unless you buy the ergo grip then it is balanced good. if I can get hold of another one though I’ll deffo do a review and talk through my issues with the machine. One thing I will say is the flite x1 and the Cheyenne both have consistent power. Just poor design that’s all. The new stigma force look interesting indeed, I remember seeing an option to convert it to rca aswell as battery, which is cool.
Umm, don't know, this review is focused more on the ergonomics of this machine, and yes it's a bit odd to handle in the beginning, but you get used to it,as for the charger? who cares, as long as it charges the battery it's fine by me...What this review lacks is the most important aspect of a tattoo machine review... how well it performs! I've been using it for two months now, and it really is a game changer for my work..I do line work , fine shading, pepper&whip shading, and it feels so easy. And i've been using other cheyenne machines, but this is another level ... I drop fat lines and color pack in steady mode and smooth blend and shading in responsive mode. I also use the cheyene ergo round disposable grip and the machine feels great in my hand, no issues whatsoever. Really, I can't take this review seriously.
You are entitled to your opinion. For me the machine wasn’t the best and to be honest they would have been better off just making a battery for the sol nova. Power wise I did say it was consistent, but wasn’t the best for line work in my opinion. But my main issue with the machine was the ergonomics of it. Also the charger does make a difference, if you have a poor quality charger that’s not delivering consistent power output to charge the batter it could lead to the battery life being shortened. If there’s no surge protection or anything like that on the charger and the battery (due to being a poor quality battery) There is a fire risk. Each to their own I suppose, I can only base my review on my opinion and experiences with the machine. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Wish I'd have seen this before I dropped $1200 on this crap. Im a huge Cheyenne fan. I've owned literally every model they've produced and have enjoyed each one. The Spirit was the very first rotary I ever bought and used, after getting my neck done by Roman with his, and being able to sit 14 hours. Converted me to a full-on Cheyenne/Rotary fanboy after being a die-hard, custom coil advocate for the first few years of my career. I have had a couple break on me and had to deal with the headache of sending them direct to Germany to get fixed (although they've made it much more simple recently...I had to send in my new Hawk Pen after a only a couple days of using it right when I bought it, and it was soooo much quicker and easier than when I sent my thunder in like 5 years ago). However, they're still an electronic device and are still prone to breaking, or being outright defective. So I'm pretty understanding about that...especially since they stand by their product and had both of mine fixed, no questions asked and free of charge, minus what I paid to ship them from FL (around $40/50 bucks if I remember correctly), and mailed back to me within about 30-45 days (not bad for going to and from Germany). That all said, I was pretty stoked on this Sol Nova Unlimited when I first started reading up on it. I was literally torn 50/50 on it and the Flux though...and now, I really wish I'd have gone with the Flux. I love my Spektra Xion with battery packs and should've just ordered it and waited to have it shipped. Buuuuut, I'm super compulsive and impatient like most artists I know, and once Kingpin was able to finally reopen their warehouse, the day the lockdown ended here in FL, and I was finally able to replenish my shops supplies (thank god...we were down to the bare minimum at that point since people started getting tattooed like they were going to ban them or something after the lockdown...we're literally busier this year just after the lockdown, than the past 7 years, this time of year, I've had my studio open...and thats after factoring in growth from before this Corona sh*t), when I drove down to their warehouse in St Pete, they just so happened to have one of these in stock and on hand. I was stoked I didn't have to order it and wait for it, especially since the mail system was still pretty f*cked from everyone and their mom ordering EVERYTHING to be shipped. That excitement quickly faded after using this thing for a few tattoos. I can't f*cking stand not knowing my voltage either man! Drives me crazy. Plus it seems no matter how consistent you move it up and down to change the voltage, it never feels the same. The button is always in the most inconvenient and unnatural spot possible, and for $1200+ bucks you'd think they could put a tiny lcd screen, or hell, even some damn backlit numbers/symbols. Instead its like you have to learn their stupid secret code to work this properly. They could have just saved the 25 cents they spent on the absolute garbage, piece of crap, completely useless "charger" they tossed in to fill the empty slot in the sweet travel bag, and put that money into a super simple, more intuitive operating/function setup, and kept their lifelong customers, like me, extremely happy. Just seems like such a dumb and easy thing to not fail on so hard. I know it sounds super nit-picky, and I agree it is....but for over 12 bills, this thing should be damn near perfect. Plus, when it's your go-to, number one tool used to do your job every single day, if the entire operating/function system of your daily driver is super annoying and inconsistent, it becomes more of a hinderance than anything and ultimately drives you to end up taking a loss and selling it to try and recoup at least some of your wasted money.............so, that all said.......anyone interested in totally disregarding everything I just rambled on about, and everything negative he said in this video...and wanna buy a very lightly used, like new, perfect condition Cheyenne Sol Nova Unlimited??? I've got a basically new one for less than you can buy one new! Hit me up!

Spitting not spilling. It does happen with some needle brands, have you used the machine? Cause you need to move it more than a little bit to change the voltage lol.
I actually hate my sol nova unltd. It’s so inconsistent. Awful liner. Chargers junk. Lately it’s been cutting out mid line. Not cool. And their customer service sucks ass!

The shop I work for provides the disposable grips and I own neuma 4 and flux and force and out of all the machines I go back to this machine I use the 4 .0 mm stroke and I can do everything this machine is for people who tattoo in a certain manner I like it alot like I said it's subjective
Thank God I'm not the only one that thinks this machine is ridiculous. I thought the new tech was going to be so dope. But, when it comes to the practicality... its annoying. I know what voltage works on some of my clients skin. I don't know what hand turn works the best.. how accurate are these hand turns? It shits the bed and goes to sleep during line work. That being said, I think this machine runs smoothly it does what it's supposed to. But it's just annoying. Why isn't there an LCD screen? Can I put one in it. I feel like sending it to my friend to take apart just to see if he can put one on it.
Sold mine for a bishop power wand packer. I was so tired of not finding to button when tatting an aswell as not being able to read and guess what the voltage is. The lines of the 3.5 is meh. Definitely a good machine for b&g but.. doubt it i'll buy a cheyenne machine in the future.
It depends on what lines you want. I generally use the flux for lines as it’s a 4mm stroke. But everyone’s different, I have a ci worker who used to do everything with a 2.5mm stroke spirit.
There are plenty of alternatives. We have various reviews that you can watch. Doing that along with researching the machines yourself, you should be able to find something that suits you.
You dont need a voltage read out you can just use your ear. i love this machine. But i have not tried any other similar machine to compare it to beside traditionally hand made coils to be honest.
Good honest, unbiased coverage as usual Chris. I’ve been debating whether to get the new Sol Nova Unlimited 5.0 variant for a proper compact wireless feel but after watching this I’m now just more inclined to add the Bishop Power Wand Liner alongside my existing Wand and battery combo. Keep up the good work, sir. 👍
So my opinion on the whole gesture control and button size hasn’t changed. But…. The 5.0 out of the the three machines is the one I prefer the most, it’s nice for line work and packing solid colour. Although if you are more comfortable with the wands then go for the wand :)
I loved mine until it just died one month after the 12 month warranty. Cheyenne told me they cannot repair the snu they can only replace for an additional $460. I have $200 wireless machines from amazon that lasted longer than my snu. Terrible service to deal with aswell.

Remove the cartridge before adjusting the voltage
