      This female pathologist is a joke! She thinks everyone in 1998 knew how to turn on a computer. I remember my husband and kids saying, "Now just move the mouse." I had no clue what that meant. At 6:05:40 marks sister states Julie said she was offered the job but Decided NOT to take it. How can this be when Julie didn't know she was offered the job yet? When the principal called Mark said Julie was asleep and would be for a long time. Julie didn't know she got the job. Also the witness testified the last time she spoke to Julie was on November 30th that was before the principal called to offer her the job. The witness is lying 🤥

    The forensic pathologist correctly advises that in general a Medical Examiner should take into account history and circumstances beyond mere autopsy pathological tests - but then proceeds to completely ignore [edit: correction: *distort*] that very same advice in coming to her own unjustified conclusions in this case!
    Two distortions are (a) her misrepresentation of Julie's unhappiness and anxiety as " depression" - which it wasn't, not by any stretch of imagination - and (b) Thomas' exaggeration about suicide running in families - it can, but not necessarily so, as any living child of a suicided parent can testify. An alert juror will remember that Julie had told her marital concerns to her GP, and then decided by herself to go for divorce to resolve them. Later, changing that decision, trying to make a go of it for the sake of the children, was a fatal mistake.
    And on top of that, Thomas argues that it would be impossible for an adult to be force-fed a pill, blowing smoke over the more likely possibility that Julie could have been deceptively fed a powdered pill in a drink.
    Next, Thomas states "if someone is violently sitting on someone's back..." I don't know about you, but when i sit on a chair, i don't do so violently. Poor Julie was already half-dead from poison and sedatives, even if still just breathing, so it would have been easy for Mark to have pressed her face into the pillow by sitting on the back of her head, not on the back of her torso - there would have been no struggle, no defensive injuries. Dillard heard/got/said it wrong, but that hardly matters. And it doesn't excuse Dr Thomas for turning from medical doctor to spin doctor.
    It is plain as day that the egregious Dr Thomas (unlike the witty Mr Thomas) is, in her retirement, selling herself as a defence gun for hire, willing to lie under oath by fairy stories and smoke-screens, bringing the practice of forensic pathology into disrepute. I look forward to watching her own trial for professional misconduct.

      @@melaniegaribaldi6724 i'm not sure that's true, Melanie - although i haven't checked the statistics, i think a victim of domestic violence is more at risk when she (or, in rare cases, he) doesn't run away and gives the offender another chance. In this case, Julie was killed 7 years after she gave Mark another chance.

    When did having depression and/or anxiety equal being " mentally ill?" If that's the case...whoa..we have A LOT of mentally ill people in this country!

    • @thisiscait
      @thisiscait Рік тому +8

      Anxiety and depression are both mental illnesses, yup, two of the most common ones. That's why they're listed in the DSM, and people visit psychologists and receive therapy and medication to help alleviate symptoms. Of course severity and symptoms fall on a spectrum, but you're completely right, there are a lot of people suffering with mental illness worldwide. It's estimated one in six people will suffer a major depressive episode at least once in their life, and one in five people suffers from mental illness at any given time, however this changes slightly with country and population.

    I've gone through 2 divorces, yes a person may be upset, sad or even depressed about it. However, that is a situational depression, not an imbalance depression. Just because someone "thinks" their marriage is over and will end in divorce doesn't mean they will commit suicide. No papers were filed at this time. The Dr today made it seem like that is a common occurrence that people commit suicideover divorce. It would be intetesting to look at statistics. I think it's probably more common for one spouse to kill the other than to kill themselves, especially if young children were involved. Julie loved her children, she was planning on getting job, (Independence) an act of preparing or moving foward. Not one of a person planning on committing suicide.

She went in the house checked on julie and then called mark to tell her that she is still alive and i think the sister was the one who turned julie to her side . She rang mark and then told him to come home and mark went in to check if she was dead.
      Why would the sister bother coming by to check on julie at that time at 3 pm and the sister also stated that she had to pick up the kids from julies house, but the sister made the statement before that on the 30th of november that julie wasn't going to be seeing her for a few days because of the medication for depression so it means that julie will not be looking after the sisters children in the next few weeks. So why does the kids need to be picked up from Julies house ? And how she would not know who called her to pick up the kids ? It would have been mark making the call if mark was the one who found julie dead . Or did the sister checked on julie for mark and knew she was dead and gave herself an alibi as to why she was at the house around 3 pm.
      How could the sister know that all the lights in the house was not on and that everything in the house was dark. For all she knows that julie could have been sitting in the backyard and julie switched all the lights off to save money. How was the sister in the house at 3 pm.

    I'd like to know if the taxpayers are paying this so-called expert her outrageous bill for her paid testimony? I take what this lady says with a grain of salt, only because she's going to say whatever the defense wants her to say. She didn't know Julie, yet she could sit there and arrogantly say Julie killed herself 🙄. I'm still shocked she has the nerve to ask for thousands of dollars and expect anyone to trust what she says. I find this witness as reliable as any jailhouse snitch.

    1:39:00 Prosecutor: "Were you aware that Mark Jensen had been torturing - gaslighting - his wife for years and years and years before her death?"
    Dr Thompson: "I'm kinda struggling with all of the factors here..."
    Prosecutor (interrupting): "blah blah blah..."
    Judge: "Let her finish" (ie, "let her dig her own grave")
    Thank you, Judge, for stopping Mr Motormouth Prosecutor from ruining his own case by interrupting the hostile witness, stopping her from undermining her own credibility!
    :)
    3:02:10 Oh, Mr Motormouth Prosecutor! You missed it - you are so intent on bulldozing until you get your witness to simply agree with whatever you say, you completely missed it when she contradicted herself in disagreeing with you!! Specifically, it went like this:
    You: "You have no evidence of homicide"
    She: "I have a lot of evidence of homicide..."
    You (interrupting again): " But..."
    and argued with her instead of just saying "Aha! So you admit it!!"
    No offence, Mr one-track P, but i think you are well past your "use-by" date, - if Mark gets off, it will be your fault.

      Dr Thompson is a liar, you can see in every bit of her cross examination that she was paid to say that julie died of suicide . Even the way she smiles at the prosecutor because she knows that he knows that she was paid to lie. And being the stupid woman that she is she also has ruined her reputation as a DR for this rubbish investigation for her all for 20k . Everyone will remember her as a corrupted Dr Thompson.

    • @Silly.Old.Sisyphus
      @Silly.Old.Sisyphus Рік тому +2

      @@JK-jj9ko She's not even a competent liar, as both you and i and i'm sure many other observers can easily see through her deception. But her cross-examination may yet get Mark off, because it revealed that the Prosecutor is hell-bent on proving suffocation as the cause of death, which is almost impossible to prove as there is no forensic evidence to support it (inhalation of pillow fibres would be about the only possible indication, and that wasn't tested by the Medical Examiner).
      If The Prosecutor carries on like he's been going, he will shoot himself in the foot and Mark will escape justice.
      This case provides an overwhelming argument for rewriting the law regarding the purpose of postmortem Medical Examination and forensic pathology - it should clearly be limited to addressing Cause of death, but not Manner, as distinguishing between accident, suicide and homicide requires skills, knowledge and patience beyond the reach of most hard-pressed MEs and paid-by-the-hour pathology experts.
      Here, there is a mountain of circumstantial evidence supporting homicide by poisoning, but only one blabbermouth (Mark himself, relayed by a proven conman) supporting homicide by suffocation.
      Please wake up, Mr Prosecutor, before it's too late!

    People are slating 'the lady in purple' for sticking to her view that suicide is more likely than murder, but why is she even being asked to proffer an opinion? She's as an expert in toxicology, can of course speak to 'cause' of death, but the 'manner' through which Julie Jensen came to consume the antifreeze has surely to be explored/established by the police and prosecution and it's then for the jury to decide who they believe.

    • @JK-jj9ko
      @JK-jj9ko Рік тому

      Well i think the jury will find that julie did not die of suicide especially when they realised that Dr Thompsons examination was full of rubbish and was paid to lie .

    • @fld9201
      @fld9201 Рік тому

      @@JK-jj9ko I'm not suggesting otherwise, I'm just questioning why an expert in toxicology, who wasn't one of the police investigators, is being asked for her opinion on the manner of death: we know how she died and the question of the manner of death is for the jury, not for a toxicologist. Every human being on the planet, including those with zero education, is in just a good a position as Dr Thompson in terms of proffering an opinion on whether it was suicide or murder (or indeed accidental ingestion).
