  • The WFA1-L is the latest lighter version from Warwick Firearms. It performed very well with outstanding accuracy and zero malfunctions. It's a great manually operated rifle for Australian conditions.

    Love the review and especially the time you took to address the fact that it can't be converted to semi-auto!! Blows my mind to think of how ignorant GCA and the Greens are to think you could easily do so in your back shed when for 20 years between World Wars professional firearms engineers and gunsmiths couldn't convert even straight pull bolt actions to semi-auto without rendering then unsafe to operate or unrealiable even by the standards of the day

    • @YOgooshusWHAT
      @YOgooshusWHAT 4 роки тому +3

      The bolt looks to be based off the ar-18 rather than the ar-15, meaning that it doesn't need a buffer tube. If a short stroke piston was added (which is what the ar-18 uses) it could possibly function as a semi auto, depending on other factors such as being able to fit the piston and the trigger group having a semi disconnector. Obviously you wouldn't convert it, just saying.

    • @legallyfree2955
      @legallyfree2955 4 роки тому +2

      Probably could also be converted fairly easily using electronics, if someone wanted to go down that path (microphone, linear actuator, Arduino type of deal)
      That said given the price reductions in CNC machines, improvements in 3D printing and their associated price reductions, internet availability etc people converting registered firearms is probably going to be the least of the gun control advocates worries, or at least it should be.

      ua-cam.com/video/glcuSPMAAHs/v-deo.html, if the kiwis can do it with a lee, "we" can do it with an "ar180"

    • @EMASTER118
      @EMASTER118 4 роки тому +3

      Okay, but thinking from a realistic and practical sense, why would anyone spend $3200 on a straight pull bolt action to attempt to convert it to semi-auto when to so risks damaging it to the point of rendering it inoperable or unsafe in the first place. And in the event that it was stolen, do you really expect organised criminals who can import semi-autos through porous borders with far greater ease than gunsmithing a rifle that was never designed to be semi-auto into a semi-auto would bother doing so? Just because some NZers managed cobble some together doesn't mean it's worth destroying a $3k rifle to do so when all you'll get out of the bargain is WLB putting you in prison

      Adam I’ve talked to a bunch of Australian manufacturers either in person or through messages and they are all not will to make a rifle which they see have the potential to be banned as it isn’t cheap to have r&d on top of tooling up and paying staff for something you may not get a return on because you making it has made the action banned. While I don’t see lever releases going anywhere any time soon I also don’t see anyone making one that looks like this at least. If you really want a lever release that looks like this I would look into getting a gun Smith to do it for you legally but be warned it isn’t a cheap exercise.

    Another awesome & informative review Ozzie - have been awaiting this one. I have a 1st Gen WFA1 & contrary to your comments about its use - I enjoy immensely shooting it at the range - my only issue was the standard trigger which I swapped out for a Timney AR trigger which took the platform to another level in the accuracy stakes. Yes the adjustable stock is a must in my opinion - I really enjoy mine & if you get to go to the Warwick facility you can see the R&D spend & quality control in place - it makes the sticker shock more palatable for sure & the guys at Warwick provide terrific customer service. It’s definitely a rifle I could never see myself moving on.

    I still prefer the look of the original but yeh it's heavy. Mine shoots lights out with 69g matchkings or 60g hornady tap. Mines dual charging but I never use the left side. I can keep on target much better holding the rifle into my shoulder with my left arm. The pencil barrel must heat up and wander alot quicker too.

      Average Aussie don’t try and makes sense of it, because it doesn’t, like juniors licence holders allowed semi auto .22 and pump action shot guns, til they’re 18, then you’re not allowed to have it. It’s actually batshit crazy.

    • @jasoar1563
      @jasoar1563 4 роки тому +2

      Jaso AR15 nope, they're full blown retarded. Journalists and politicians literally shit themselves when law abiding citizens ask to have some kind of consistency with gun laws, but when it comes to criminal gangs accessing illegal assault style rifles, they shrug shoulders, and have a stupid look of resignation on their faces. Shits me.

    • @ozziereviews
      @ozziereviews  4 роки тому +2

      Unfortunately I wouldn't prefer a Verney because for $3500 it's accuracy was terrible from my testing. So it's $3500 for either (a) an Australian made Warwick WFA1-L that I can shoot a 0.3" group with 3-shots @ 100 or (b) a French owned Verney Carron that I can't get any better than 1.5" for 3-shots at the same distance? For me the choice is easy = A.

    • @countercivilization
      @countercivilization 4 роки тому

      @@ozziereviews Support the country that supports you, I agree, the latest pandemic is a good reminder.
      Now few contentious points, let's be sport!
      The exact same VC308 synthetic, just under $3000 not $3500!
      Now accuracy, it is purpose built rifle for moving game it is not design to be BR! it is accurate under MOA with most ammunitions. Norma is working with Verney Carron on all their r&d and tend to give excellent result.
      Usually most owners are happy when the rifle give them 2cm @ 100m and you did not find it, that's ok. For hunting purpose it's more than adequate and able you to shoot at 300m or more but it's not the philosophy of use of this weapon! See video of Shooting stuff Australia.
      Now VC give 5 or 6 years warranty, from experience not all manufacturers give you that! Also the gas system can be tune to the ammo and the port sometime needs a clean.
      Now $3500 for a straight pull Warwick is pulling you're leg. Now The VC system is as close you can be to a semi, it's more efficient and ergonomic than any straight pull system. May be Warwick should look in that direction....
      People cry because the authorities castrated them by tooking their semi or prevent them to have some thematic accessories or ban suppressor...but when a company bring some real innovation to the market to remidy the censorship the very same people (in the comments section) start booing because it's not like the good ol' days... I find it a bit tiring.
      Anyway, love your work and what you do for our sport. Happy Australia day!
