- Here’s a brief background on my job as an Admissions Officer at West Point.
I am humbled to serve as the Southeast Outreach Admissions Officer for West Point - The U.S. Military Academy and to represent the U.S. Army.
Serving in this capacity means a great to deal to me and I’ll explain why in this short video.

John Locke do u mind sharing some of your file that might’ve helped get that LOA?
Definitely get your application done early. My school doesn’t have JROTC so I try to help out and serve wherever I can in my community. I also went to boys state and won governor. I’m really not the smartest and you don’t need perfect scores on every test you take. Try to be a well rounded person and always remember in the spirit of service and not self. Good luck!

The 1st Lt went through basic training. Much respect for that.
I guarantee you West Point was more difficult than basic. When I was younger I felt like officers didn't have to go through what I went through i.e. basic. Fact is, many went through worse as they commissioned. There is an error to compare 9 weeks of basic and see it as more challenging than 4 years of a rigorous ROTC program or 12 weeks of OCS. It's a figment of imagination to make you feel proud of your accomplishment.

Diversity is great as long as the standards are not lowered. The qualifications should be equal for all.
You seem to believe the standards were equal for all and were not lowered previously. Don't wait till the word "diversity" is used to want things to be fair. If they were fair upfront the word diversity wouldn't even have popped up and because such an issue.

Historically Correct true, I wish the army did the same like the USMC. The marines uniform has changed but not by much.
Historically Correct I'm talking about the service uniforms, not the combat uniforms. The combat uniforms are basically the same with different regulations and camos

Hello 1LT, I hope your doing well. I have been watching your videos for a long time. I admire you very much and I love to become a part of West Point. So, my question is very depending on the route I am trying to take to get in. So I’ll be straight forward and say I graduated earlier from high school with gpa of 3.75 in 2018. I have been in college since than and will be graduating winter 2021. I am also part of national guard since 2019. I’ll be honest and say that my sat from high school was 990, however my college gpa is very high expecting 3.90 when I graduate. My physic is good and working hard to become better. Do you think I have any chances of getting to west point. If not, what do you recommend me doing? Thank you in advance.

@LongGreyLessons I am a sophomore in high school I have a 3.8 gpa 4 varsity letters, founded and still am the president of the cycling club, I play football, basketball, and baseball. I was captain of the Jv basketball team before moving up to varsity. Also my school requires community service, I have over 100 already and will have at least 300 by the time of graduation. I have always aspired to attend West Point. Aside from receiving a nomination, what are my chances based on what’s above?

@@stevenyoung3513 diversity is part of qualifications. PLUS.... most positions in the service academies (sans USCG) are political appointments, not solely about "qualifications"...
Also, per stereotypes.... if we were to go by highest grades and exams we would have a majority Asian service academies, not White.. So smart up, and end you prejudices

Keith Brooks he earned them dude! Maybe some when he was enlisted! But again it usually takes 26 months to become a 1st lieutenant! So if he served 2 years enlisted and 2 years by the time he was talking here as a 1stLT?! Then he most likely had 4 years to earn a few units and he might have served in combat who knows!
