Those are the old Trolley tracks, Both Tolleys and busses use to run on rails throughout Brooklyn. just like san Francisco and new Orleans. if you know what to look for, much of the trolley electrical infrastructure remain on many buildings to this day. But much of the actual rail lines have been pulled up in 80's because of the vast damage it caused every time new asphalt was pored, part of the reason why NY had such bad roads. They simply pored cheap asphalt over old cobblestones streets riddled with trolley rail lines. ua-cam.com/video/2qZIAdzIAkk/v-deo.html&ab_channel=SuumCuique

theWanderer521, do it!!!! I visited NY for the time in my life(44 yrsold)!! I FELL 😍 ❤️!!! I went alone! Spent 3 days in Chelsea area at The Heritage Hotel. Went to Grimaldi’s directly under the Brooklyn Bridge on Front St., went to The Observatory at Ground Zero!! Like I said, go...you’ll love!!
its badass ...also I recommend u get a hotel in queens New it's cheap and nice ..ur gonna also see the types of life styles ppl have there too compared to the ones u see in your hometown
when I was in NY for first time, and take a walk, sometimes drive thru streets of Brooklyn, manhattan etc. I get flashbacks from many movies, many series, music spots I just felt some warm around my heart, you just remember some movie you watched as a child when you see some spots, or specialy in central park, and home alone movie :)
I LOVE NYC, I visited the state 2018, I am from Saudi .... This video made me go in tears now in 1/4/2020 .... 💔 I wish days will heal all world from this virus very soon! We can’t wait to go back to normal life and enjoy living. PRAY!
1:16 is the stone anchorage on the Manhattan Bridge with an arch. The anchorage is where the cable wires go inside. The anchorage was built by Carrere & Hastings according to the original plaque which is shown on the walkway in one of the towers, and it was designed by Leon Moisseiff, who was best known for designing the Golden Gate Bridge, the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Bridge, the Ben Franklin Bridge and the original Tacoma Narrows Bridge. But sadly, in 1940, a few months after it opened, the original Tacoma Narrows Bridge ended in a massive tragedy where the entire span got destroyed due to high winds that cause the bridge to sway back and forth until it finally collapsed and it ended up being the most tragic events of all of bridge disasters.
Thank you for sharing , I was born there , lived On Grant St Ext. on the other side of Dumbo , towards Williamsburg , and I get excited when you showed this video, I was hoping to see my building , 🥲 sweet memories ❤️ thank you thank you
Watching this from my home in London UK after seeing it on Apple Maps in 2D in my iPhone 10, I though I might take the ride after watching the BBC’s Beyond 100 Days from Washington DC, as one their presenters lives in Brooklyn.
Hello! Thanks for your videos. Tell me, what model of camera do you use in your video-clips? Is it a GoPro? Or is it the DVR inside the car on the windshield?
its funny just a few decades back, Dumbo was nothing, barely any businesses or residencies. in fact most of the building were empty old and hollowed out. A relic of the past. then after the Brooklyn bridge was restored a few up beat restaurants opened up on the water, and the city created a little park area for the city view across the river, at that time, investors started taking interest in the area. You couldve bought it all up for just about NOTHING prior. No one considered the realestate value of riverside property, but it was understandable considering much of it was a dump. well... not any more!!. Its amazing the transformation. Brooklyn has fast become the new Manhattan. (for better and worse)
Ha ha the cement company still uses old rear discharge mixers! Front discharge mixers, more safe for the worker. And more efficient! Do love the ride though! I noticed the brick streets and inter urban railways still in the road. We messed up when we got rid of that service! It was a clean way to get around! Just saying! Thanks again!
I remember back in 1995 when I used to walk over to the DUMBO area of Brooklyn to get away to feel at peace or alone................ there were not people walking around in this area because most of it was under developed. Haaaaaa look at it now................. I think most of these people do not even know that.

I think it's cool that the city left parts of the old train tracks in the road. It's a nice little piece of history.
