My ex car. (530d 2001)..Brought back some good memories. Swapped it for an SUV from the same year, the ML55 AMG. On the long run E39 was so much better, but it wasn't the swiss knife that I needed for my family. Large cargo space, 4x4, no need to look out for bumps, and still as fast. The BMW was so much prettier tho, mine was in very good condition and with beautiful 17" rims...Miss those days.
@@Gen.x62 Depends on how well it was maintained. The 3 liter diesel engine was one of the best for it's time, no wonder they put it in the x5 and 7 series too. It can last well over 500 000 km with good maintenance. You should be more concerned about the turbo's condition. If you do buy that car, check for oil leaks, and if it makes strange noise. I had to fix mine, because it was in bad condition, and oh boy, the car got it's 193 horses back, it pulled real nice. So, if you are a fan of the E39, I'd say go for it. If I could bring back time, I'd probably go for the 540 or the M5. These cars are almost priceless now.

I have 330Cd face-lift coupe with M57D30N (204 HP and 410 NM) with the same transmission. It has at least 260.000 km in all original. Engine is very smooth and torque at any revs with perfect sound. I have once reached 240 km/h (239 on GPS) on German autobahn and my babe could make even faster. E38, E39, E46 are best BMW generation!
E39 530d and the M57 motor are some if not the best thing BMW ever made, the M57 base engine is still used today and saved Range Rover in 2000 used in the X5 and other BMW,D cars, the e39 M5 was considers the best sadden car in the world !
Nice ride. Got the same E39 530dA 2002, love it notice, your fuel-tank runs empty (orange light), it's worse for diesel with high pressure common rail. Be aware of damage to your injectors.

This is one of the good ones. I had an E46 years ago and the only thing preventing me from setting it on fire was the thought that the authorities would punish me for excess pollution and pyromaniac activities.
bought 525 120kw with a blown gasket it was fun taking it out and cleaning all that white stuff that comes from oil and coolant mixing :D after that just regular maintenance of fluids and some old rubbers for the moving parts still no major issues after 5 years of owning one btw did the same thing took it to Germany to test it out since where I live the roads and police are always on the lookout to get you it still made to 230kmh although slower than 530 here
Mein Vater hatte damals den E39 aber nur als 520i. Aber wenn man nicht rasen möchte,ein tolles Auto. Der E39 vermittelt einfach Wertigkeit, und selbst der 2L war damals ja ein 6Zylinder. Diese Harmonie und Laufruhe,unglaublich. Also 530d ist das natürlich noch Mal eine Nummer besser🎉😅
