I’m a conservative and can’t stand the thought of government overreaching. But as a parent, I see first hand just how stupid these kids are, and it’s 100% the parents fault. Parents today would rather be their child’s friend, rather than a strict parent who has to teach their child important lessons like discipline, ethics, etc. If parents are unwilling to do what’s necessary for their children, then it’s up to the law.
My kids are in their mid 30’s and didn’t have internet until they were 18. They did, and still do, wholesome activities. I’m aghast at the neglect parents have with their children regarding internet exposure.
Did you have the internet for yourself before they turned 18, or did just they not have it? If you had it, why not at least let them use it on occasion, and have them use it more and more, with less parental oversight, as they get older - while also not letting them use it all the time? In this day and age, most students use the internet for projects and essays anyway, it would be a nightmare to not know how to use the internet until you turn 18 in todays world.
My kids are in their thirties and they had to have internet because they used it in school. But I had rules and to this day neither one of them are involved in social media. But both of them do their employment on computers.

I agree 100 percent with you. Government over reach has far reaching, unintended consequences.
I am 40 and hardcore gamer. Even we put the screens down more than today's children. It's a bad situation we got going on.
My kids are in their thirties and they had to have internet because they used it in school. But I had rules and to this day neither one of them are involved in social media. But both of them do their employment on computers.
Social media took the joy from everything in real time.. Ruined families, friendships and excitement..
It’s not a violation of parent’s rights because the kid can have an account if their parent says they can.
