+Catherine Duarte I know what you mean. I used to listen to this album a lot in high school andlistening to Metric brings tons of bittersweet memories about those times. Also this song was used in a car commercial years ago! Sadly I can't find which one online.
In all honesty tho I love the insane feeling of modesty that this album has, especially when I feel like a lot of these songs are genuinely Emily’s best lyrics ever. So glad my mom introduced me to metric 😖
So they are selling a cd and digital copy of the album over at ilovemetric.com. The cd's 12 dollars cad but it's sold out at the moment, and the digital copy is 9 cad and i think you get mp3 quality. Here's the page: ilovemetricstore.com/music/cds/metm-005-metric-grow-up-and-blow-away-cd/

This is such a brilliant song! Less than 20 thousand views? Really sad. Why is it that feather light pop songs with disposable hooks get more views? All the same, this is my favourite metric album.
I agree, this band has so many great songs, original sound and lyrically genius. Whoever has been marketing them has missed the boat. One of their best songs along with dead disco, combat baby, black sheep, synthetics gold, guns, girls and the list goes on and on....
robert wood for sure, everything before the last album you mentioned is gold, after the light bulb and synthetics album it’s mostly crap, some piece of crap marketer made them change there sound and lyrically quite a bit to suit the masses, but every album before is genius They use to have such a nice sound, her sexy subtle hypnotic voice when the songs were calmer, when they weren’t even still had sex appeal, the lyrics on the first few albums were so psycho-sexually admirable, poetry about aspects of real people, real problems, mostly female perspective, but nonetheless amazing, I haven’t listened to much of the last few of their albums and I don’t care too, I’m good repeating the first ones
I remember taping this off a public radio station back in the day the first time I heard it during an interview the band was giving, and always liked it from then. It was off their first album, which wasn't released at the time because of issues with their record company at the time. In fact, it wasn't actually released until 2007, after they'd done two other releases. Sucks that it wasn't pushed at all at the time, but at least it did eventually get released. This is a weird but nice-sounding song though, which is why I've always liked it from day one.
this song, and a lot of songs by, some past life crush I had are a bit satanic. At least they're not rather satanic I still fancy her flesh but i am at war with principalities. lol. i'm happy sounding psychotic or foolish i'm on the right path. Ugh, i would love Emily Haine's babies but it'd have to be like... Christian
the first 2 metric albums were rly special to me but the subtext has become cloying when I read a flipping book. Eff. i try not to swear but fuck we choose to die forever and hunting ghosts lol. not like; literal ghosts. I spent a life in a relationship with ghosts this metaphor was ruined by bad TV. This music isn't Christian. Don't capitalize on; capitalize that; what matters. Christ; the Messiah.
This touches my heart in the weirdest way. Like a melancholic happiness with a dash of nostalgia?

Same.
I heard this during my childhood. I love listening to it again
Come back and listen again with me
I remember riding around in my 94 cavalier blasting this song with my home girl back in high school. All the nostalgia 🖤
Grow up and blow away and Fantasies are the two albums I come back to cry heavily too (:
In all honesty tho I love the insane feeling of modesty that this album has, especially when I feel like a lot of these songs are genuinely Emily’s best lyrics ever. So glad my mom introduced me to metric 😖
As a child this was the only album I really ever listened to and I am rediscovering them and it feels great.
come back and listen with me
will never get over this song
Classic. I wish this record wasn't so expensive and rare to come across. I need a physical copy bad.
Are metric selling it on their website? If they are, that's probably where you'll find it cheapest

Still have my ex’s copy haha
I found it for $16 at a local used store, CD copy with DT770s sounds mindblowing
They repressed it a couple months back and as of two seconds ago it’s still available for purchase on their website…
This song always takes me back when my friends and I were just getting into Metric this track was on HEAVY rotation
Always listen to this when I'm feeling unstable lmao i love it so much
we all do, this and blindness
Yep, I'll sometimes chant it while I drag into work.
She mentions death a lot in her songs. She's definitely the depressive type.
All these years later and return to this song, classic...

Their first album is better than their first album
I understood that reference!
This song reminds me of Suzanne Vega... and I say that with the highest compliments intended!
There was no other way to take it, 100% Vega on this track, this band just crushes it.
Absolutely love it

Get help. The lyrics are about making compromises for the ones you love and feeling unsatisfied with your life.
