Wow, good job getting the entire FMA 03 series! I'm glad that yours all look legit, when I got mine second hand, two and a half of them were obvious bootleg copies. Those disks still somewhat work though, so it could be worse. I always like seeing appreciation for FMA 03, it is usually overlooked despite being pretty great.
Sorry to hear you got bootlegs, that must really suck. I was lucky to get working copies of each disk bc I love the 2003 anime. Such a shame it’s so difficult to find streaming nowadays. I definitely see a lot of revisionist history going on in the anime community about how people received FMA03, bc it was incredibly popular back in its day but people nowadays are saying something else LMAO. I definitely enjoy how the original anime tackled the homunculi and also enjoy the fact there was no evil secret group calling all the shots and it was truly humanity being humanity’s worst enemy. I also just love a good female villain lol
0:28 it’s basically been snapped out of existence on every streaming platform. Last I heard, some regions of Netflix still had it but that’s about it (and as far as I recall they didn’t have access to the English sub or dub). Specifically I think several months ago someone said it was still available in Netflix for France (which does have a good dub apparently, side note apparently most of the FMA dubs are good) so at least some people still have access to legally streamable fma.
Which is an absolute shame because the original anime is still a pretty good series. Sure, most people prefer brotherhood, but I genuinely feel like if you view them as two separate pieces of media, ‘03 still holds up pretty well
@@livingwithamber oh I fully agree. 03 on its own is actually my 3rd favorite anime (and my preferred version of the story) and probably the series I hold closest. And beyond how it works as a a stand alone I think that the way it interacts with Mangahood at a thematic level is simply phenomenal and that the two series elevate each other in a way that sets it as my definitive favorite franchise.
I bought the 2 funimation season releases in a lot. I'm really greatful because it would probably cost WAY more to buy all those individual DVD volumes. I paid 15 dollars for the two part releases and Shamballa. Got a great deal and i'm so happy, i've been wanting to buy 03 physically for ages because i loved it so so much when i watched it the first time. also got Brotherhood in that lot for 10 dollars.

I used to have those Individual DVD Releases for the Show before I sold them and got the Parts Sets instead to save space.
I bought which ever was easier and faster. Might consider doing the same thing if I can find nearly 20 year old DVDs for a reasonable price lol

Since you discussed the cover art, I’m surprised you didn’t mention the fact that the artwork is used throughout the conqueror of shamballa opening.

03 holds a very special place in my heart and will always be my favorite. Something about that early 2000s anime style just hits different
