18-105? That's equivalent of a 24-150, i think you mean 18-55 similar to the sigma 18-55 f2.8 for apsc... Probably simply a mistake, but just in case any ones wondering
Welcome to Melbourne, it's a beautiful city. Great shots and great content as always. I've been waiting for my 24-70mm 2.8 GM II for 2 months now, looking forward to seeing what it can do.
Hi. I purchased a Panasonic g7 with a 56 mm lens and i dont know if you can help me set it up. I searched for videos but the majority of videos were about sony and canon camera. Thank you
Another fantastic POV video Sam! I’m curious - what settings do you use for exposure compensation, metering and focusing mode, whilst you’re shooting in manual?
so i have an idea, im pretty sure you have thought of it but what if just only for one time try to strap one of your cameras on your chest instead of the gopro? With an ultra-wide lens of course. Its going to be heavy and probably unpleasant but maybe give it a shot once?
All your photography work is the best. I love how you edit the colours in the background which is quiet amazing and plus the portrait. Great work by the way. Keep it up.
Love this! I have a z6ii with the 24-200. Just got to test it out on a short trip to Mallorca and am very pleased with the results. Did lotsa hiking and I tried some night street photos, new to that, but a few good shots. Thanks much, love this channel!!
@OpticalWander how 24-70 2.8 would compare to Saymang new 35-150 2.0-2.8. I'm waiting for a good deal on 24-70 but now I kinda moving toward Samyang. But I need to watch some reviews. Is it possible for you to test Saymang new lens? I would want to hear your opinion on it.
I sure wouldn’t enjoy shooting street photography throughout the day with the Samyang or Tamron 35-150 since it’s heavy and very unbalanced. I just did two months in SE Asia and for me the 24-70 GM II at under 700g was a pleasure to shoot with single handed and to carry throughout the day ~ but that’s just me.
@@MulliganAlMan that lens is my dream lens. 24-70 under 700grams. It's just way too expensive & a bit too "professional" for my need. I just wish there were smaller & lighter 24-70 2.8 lenses from other 3rd party companies.
I have a G7x MK2 That does 24-100. Would it give similar compression effect as this lens? I'm a newbie to photography just watch your videos regular. Using G7x to start off with before deciding to get apsc or full frame. Any tips advice would be appreciated from you or anyone reading this comment. Thanks 🙏
Love watching your stuff, especially as a Sony A7 shooter myself. Have you tried the Samyang 85mm f1.4? Super sharp and can isolate a subject perfectly at 1.4. Do you usually shoot RAW for more pay in editing or keep it to jpeg with small tweaks?
If you don't mind the little extra weight, Samyang 24-70 f2.8 is your best bet. I have it myself. Great lens, just a bit heavier than Sigma & this Sony GM.
Yes they work on photoshop if it’s the current version from adobe. If it’s a cracked version (download from free online) then they most likely wont work correctly,
I would say so! It means when you get darker situations you can open up that aperture to get a brighter image. It just gives you a more versatile lens. Obviously you can still shoot at 28mm f2.8 but it’s limiting and I would personally be looking at getting a f2.8 all the way through.
Why not always use f2.8? I assumed the point in investing in a lens like this was for the wide aperture. Example, at 7:36 you use f16, why couldn't someone use f2.8 and a slower shutter speed? Don't mean to demean/diminish your skills, awesome video! I always learn a lot watching these!
Because when you open the shutter for a longer period of time you need to keep the exposure at the right exposure so you don’t over expose if I left it at 2.8 the photo would be to bright. The reason I had a longer shutter was due to me wanting to have the tram blurry for the photo and the subject in focus. Hope this explains your question.
If you want a great easy to carry lens? The best walk about lens is the Sony FE 24-105mm f4 OSS. Smaller. lighter, half the price of the 2.8, and you can buy excellent used ones for about $675.00! (why buy new?) And you get OSS on top of that. And don't believe the hype with the Tamron's, the 28-75 & 28-200mm. Over priced plastic. Had them both, sold them as fast as I bought them. Yah the Tamron 28-75mm is a bit better than the Sony kit 28-70mm. But not $800.00 dollars better. I mean, if your a professional, and have to have the 2.8, yah, that makes sense. But for 99.9% of the ppl, NO. Great video btw.
I own one but never wear it, I don’t like how it limits my use of the camera. I’ve only dropped a camera twice, once from a strap failing and once from a tripod mount failing. Just saying.
@@Opticalwander Lol - I have the PD Capture clip, and I used another PD strap on the camera too to give another layer of protection...I've dropped and lost a body and lens....not taking any chances lol.
Its funny when people stop so there not in your shot, 99% of the time when your doing street you want them in the shot as either the subject or to help layer.
Would you ever get in trouble for taking photos of people and posting them without their consent? I took a lovely photo of a couple sat on a bench admiring the scenery from behind them. I have been concerned that posting this to social media would get me in trouble. I understand it’s not illegal for photographing people in a public space, but I wanted to make sure I don’t make a silly mistake by posting it. Can anyone comment on this?
@@Opticalwander so I live in England, predominantly photograph in Bristol. My photo in question was taken in a public place. I see videos like yourself and others taking photos of strangers often, and so I just want to understand if there’s anything that I don’t see in the video that I need to consider, or if it is as simple as taking a shot like yours or mine and being free to post it like you did. Many thanks!

i just about to get the 28-75 for my A7iii looking forward to it

Sam, any thoughts about Tamron 28-200?
You find so much inspiration from what I see nothing, love it 😂
I’d love to walk through Brisbane and see things you do
im new, what do i enable/toggle with what buttons to turn it into 105?
You use the GoPro 8 for your POV camera, correct? What do you have it attached to?
Did you move to melbourne now or are you still in sydney?
Ordered one for my new set up. This got me actually excited. Cheers man

Are you using presets in the final image shown or just camera filter and are you using manual focus or auto focus on the lens?
plz reply.

I recently moved to Melbourne myself I really need to go out do some street photography, will give me an excuse to explore the city as well!
When I buy a preset, can I use it on Lightroom mobile?
Yes in the folder there are files for both mobile and desktop
i like your photo in the caffe e torta ( minute 11:45 ) is beautiful candid
the one of the guy in a suit and airpods walking in front of the alley was simply incredible.
camera name.?

I’m much worse, I hang out of cars for rollers with no strap 😂

Which of your presets did you use for especially the shots in the first few minutes
Dreame state then changed a few adjustments 🙏
@@Opticalwander thanks. But as it's a very blueish preset i think you changed the white balance massively to yellow

Yes

I Can't Afford That Lens lol Nice Video and Cool Shots ....
is the constant 2.8 worth it to keep, instead of for example the tamron 28-200 2.8-5.6, i got that lens paired with the a7iv and its crazy

i shoot sony so personally a7r5 but i havent shot with either of them so cant say for sure.
Sold my 24-70 GM2 this week, buying the Tamron 35-150 f2.0-2.8. Will be interesting to see if I regret it!
so you changed from ferrari to fiat ;)
