    thanks for the video. i'll probably try making this over the winter. for anyone having trouble with the molex crimping, there are some other guides for that available on youtube which might provide additional help!

    Whenever I'm trying to record myself doing stuff, sometimes it would be easier if I had both my hands free. Nice work holding the camera and showing us stuff :)
    I was thinking, getting a go-pro would be expensive and drastic overkill, but what if there was a phone mount you could wear to achieve the same effect with your phone? That'd be cool! :)

      Yeah it was tricky at times. I wish the quality was a bit better, but hopefully this works.

    I am literally trying to make a ddr pad like this and you solved a few of my questions. Are you still on here? I have some more questions.

    I wanna ask a few questions. Can you let me know if you see this? I want to build my own down the line and this video/parts is the best approach i found so far.

      Hi, I can answer any questions you have. FYI a lot of stuff has changed in the homebrew pad scene since I made this video.

      1) Where did you get the bar?
      2) You mentioned that the outter sensor is unplugged. you think u can get away with 2 sensors per arrow? or u think 3 is the sweet spot
      3) What have changed and where should I go to build a similar product with minimal cost? (I like doing DIY for wood working and such so any info is helpful)

      @jkytest1 The bar is from Home Depot. You can have them thread the pipes for you in the store, and you can buy threaded 90-degree connectors and flat threaded baseplates to attach it.
      You can definitely get away with 1 or 2 sensors. The only issue you will have to overcome is finding a way to level the panels with 2 sensors missing, which I'm sure you could do with some kind of spacers.
      The newest addition to the scene worth mentioning is most people use fsr's for sensors with either a teensy or an arduino. There's a ton of guides for that out there and whole discord channels dedicated to it.

    Question! Can you connect this dance pad to your old PDP control box? My PDPs just died and I'm giving serious consideration to making my own pad and wiring it into their control box.

    • @Just_a_space_cowboy
      @Just_a_space_cowboy  3 місяці тому

      hmmm honestly I'm not sure. If you want to build a new pad you should look into the FSR sensor option. It's very light weight and you can adjust the sensitivity through software. There are a ton of guides on it.

      @@Just_a_space_cowboy The only reason why I'm hesitant to do that is that I still play on console. Anything with an Arduino likely won't work

      @DarthG33k ah gotcha, well unfortunately I don't have a pdp to test it on, but if that box has a power and signal line then maybe it's possible?

      @@Just_a_space_cowboy It does. I opened up one of my control boxes. The actual circuit board is pretty simple to wire up. I could definitely do it myself.

    Is there a difference in connectors or reason why you used pump it up sensors instead of these?

    Hoping to emulate your build if I can't find the right cabinet in the next year.

    • @Just_a_space_cowboy
      @Just_a_space_cowboy  4 роки тому +1

      So from my understanding those sensors have a different connector and aren't as sensitive/durable. I know people who have ddr cabinets and they usually swap out the ddr sensors for Andimiro ones.

      Also for some reason it says the sensors i listed are out of stock, but they really aren't. I think they just forgot to update the website because mine shipped in like 3 days and it said that for me too.

      Or if anything, would you be able to sell me the framework parts? I don't own any of the cutting tools, so it's going to be a pain in the ass trying to do it myself.

    • @Just_a_space_cowboy
      @Just_a_space_cowboy  4 роки тому

      I've never weighed the pad before, but all of the parts assembled easily weigh well over 100lbs. If I were to do that freight shipping would be the only option which is super expensive. Also, this whole thing took me probably around 50-60 hours to build, including going to the store and getting the materials, and unfortunately I just don't have that much free time right now. I'd love to make these for people, but I Don't want to risk promising something I probably can't deliver on. If you go to Lowe's or home depot I know they can cut wood to whatever dimensions you want in the store, so maybe that could be an option? For cutting the sheet metal you can just get some cheap tin snips as well.

    What are the dimensions of the board in total and what are the dimensions of the insides of each square? I know the arrow panels are ~10.75 inches but I'm scared to build the inside of each square as 7.75 inches because of the corner brackets possibly not having space. I've built a much more rudimentary DDR board before for my GF but when I saw that you built one using the actual parts that they use in arcades I was really excited to try it myself!
