My favorite poet and she was an American, a female, and lot more too. I have a picture of Emily Dickinson on my wall and a caricature drawing of her that was on a T-shirt. I took the T-shirt to a store and had them make a poster from the t-shirt. I'm too fat for the t-shirt now but I still have it. Love you Emily. Your sister Lavinia was pretty too. I knew a girl who looked like her back in 80's. Her name was Susan. I knew her from my church. I love Emily Dickinson because she didn't bow down to the church, because she was solitary and didn't marry, because she was WEIRD and a LONER like me, and also because she was a rather SAD and LONELY woman. I love a lot of her legacy. Emily was the kind of woman a guy would hope to rescue, to love and to give some happiness too. Emily was simply too serious, too isolated, too rebellious, just too damned stubborn, too much of a loner. I think I'm a bit like her. I was drawn to her in college and she still adorns my wall over 20 years later. Emily Dickinson, I wish I could have taken you out on a date, bought you dinner and simply spent some time talking to you. You gave the world a lot to think about in your poems. Your poems are so weird and strange to where you will be remembered and taught in English classes forever. You are so much LARGER in death than you were in life. I'm glad I met you at least through your poetry and as an Icon of American Women in Poetry. Love you Emily Dickinson!!!
