I laugh really hard watching this. This was my favorite part of the movie. They show each other their scars from previous injuries, Quint tells the famous story about the Indianapolis, they start singing for no reason and the shark suddenly attacks. I love it. The best and only good shark attack movie ever made.
My dad used to sing this song loudly whenever my mother was yelling at him and being annoying... and the louder she'd yell, the louder he'd sing, especially with a few beers in his system... I'll never forget it, funniest shit ever... RIP Dad

This is such a great scene. Three men(characters) who, as we see, do not always get along the best while they're out there, having a moment of just pure fun together, a moment as friends. Any and all barriers between them are gone for this moment. On top of that you can see the actors are having a ball as well, which is always great when you can tell the fun is real.
yeah he's all like the Daddy of a family with 3 obnoxious boys in the house. "Boys...I swear to God...if by the time I count to three and you don't shut up, I'm a wreckin' this ship! One...*keep singing*...two...*keep on singing*...three!" WTF...BOOOM!!! "And next time, there ain't gonna be a warnin'!

Awwww! :) I'm watching all the episodes of pokemon and James just said "show me the way to go home, I'm tired and I wanna go to bed" And I was all like... isn't that a song?! cute. :)
I was at a Grateful Dead cover band show and they sang this accapella. I grew up watching jaws since I was really young so I felt like my life had come full circle. Cheers to the greatest film of all time!!
I could not agree more with you!!. That is the reason i fell in love with this movie. Characters who felt entirely real to me. In this scene they bond and you really begin to care about all of them. Every time i watch this movie i feel like I am catching up with old friends, i know those 3 guys so well.
I remember a long time ago watching the 'behind the scenes' of the Jaws film and during this scene some of the crew started tearing up because the song hit them hard because they were out there filming for hours on end and it was grueling and they just wanted it to be over
Richard dreyfuss singing a shanty about going home is pretty much a great comic relief from some of the exciting and scary moments we had in the movie.
Ya know it’s funny Quint sings that song all the time then Hooper jumps in with a new song it’s almost like he’s saying hey Quint change the channel lol 😆.

"Show Me the Way to Go Home" is a folk song. It was made famous by its 1925 adaptation by the pseudonymous "Irving King" (the British songwriting team James Campbell and Reginald Connelly). The song was written on a railroad train journey from London by Campbell and Connelly. They were tired from the traveling and had a few alcoholic drinks during the journey, hence the lyrics. It is believed to be of English origin but is also sung commonly in Ireland and North America.
anytime I or anybody else says they are tired i think of this song, reason i looked it up tonight is my girl said she is tired, within seconds i had this playing for her.
My girlfriend and I was singing this song on the bus once going back home from a night on town. We were almost thrown out (the driver stopped the bus and gave us a warning) but you gotta admit it's the perfect song for that. Show me The Way to go Home! :p
by far. It's the only scene where all three main characters are getting along. It's a golden scene...not to mention it follows some of the best acting recorded in cinema; and I'm speaking of the scene where Quint tells his story. Fucking awesome.

I honestly can't get that damned song out of my head. It's a never-ending song... you start singing it and then you can't stop.

I agree with you for exactly those reasons. No shark attack movie could ever touch Jaws. It is the one and only.

Anamaics was good. Jaws is the best movie ever, and Jurassic Park makes me feel like a kid again.
Actually I guess they all do.
For me it’s Indiana Jones
Anamaniacs was spielberg?

I just watched this movie about 4 hours ago and I fell in love with it and this song. XD Jaws will forever remain the best horror film ever made. =]
This song has been in my head for months now constantly singing it hahaha !
I think Jaws was just enjoying the song and bashing his head into the boat is how he expressed his enthusiasm
The fact they are looking for a shark while singing that song somehow makes it 100% better
these three sing the song better than the creator. lol
