good one Ryan. whenever i hear porch i'm often reminded of how Eddie fell of a bar chair when they did unplugged and then ended up doing twists standing on that barchair, that was a nice one
One of my favorite PJ songs! I really appreciate your teaching style - easy to digest with a few laughs thrown in :) Should you ever have the desire to do an acoustic tutorial for Mouthful of Cavaties, I'm sure it'd be another gem!
That’s awesome Ryan, thanks a bunch for the effort! I saw this after a tiring day and as I did a hot air balloon flew over my house. Your video was as uplifting. You know it makes sense! Time go get to work 🤟
OMG what are you doing here!? how did you enjoy the rains last night? You came to watch the astros beat the yankees didn't you?? there was an off chance I was headed to NYC yesterday but it didn't end up - how funny would it be if someday we got to have a quick beer. we could send photos to my mom.
@@RyanLendt Mate, a beer or two would be awesome! We're in the states on holiday, heading to DC next on Monday. We got caught in the rain trying to find something for dinner. We're staying close to Katz Delicatessen, not sure if you've heard of it but apparently it's quite well known. Your mum's probably heard of it.
ha! Thanks for noticing Jett - i just put a quick comic book effect on it to cartoonify it just barely under perception and make the colors a little more exciting. I'm never gonna forget that i owe you a lesson... email me!
Wow! Great lesson! Thanks Ryan. Porch, one of my ... euhm ... like 25 ... favorite PJ-songs, finally getting in my fingers (the singing will be for another life :-) ). Now time to discover the other stuff I don't know yet ... how come I only find your page out by now??
10/15/19. G chord ascending 3rd fret to 5th, 6th, and 8th fret sounds cool. D string power chords(2-note, root-5th notes) sound good descending... I saw this 4:17 minute clip on “7 Faces of Dr. Lao” movie with Tony Randall( Felix Unger of The Odd Couple) playing a fortune teller and telling this old woman that her future will be a waste because she’s old and men don’t look at her anymore because she no longer has young, pretty skin. This old- woman actress was once a beautiful actress who played “Effie” in “The Maltese Falcon.” I saw this clip on UA-cam and The Fortune Teller was just BRUTAL in what he said to this elderly woman. As a once beautiful actress who played the beautiful “Effie” in “The Maltese Falcon” to years later having to be an elderly woman acting against a fortune teller telling her old age took away her beauty is just disturbing to watch, but this is what women in Hollywood movies and real life deal with. Ryan, if you have time, check out this 4:17 minute clip on UA-cam of “The 7 Faces of Doctor Lao--The Fortune-Teller Scene” for a dose of some brutal reality. Take care, Ryan.
you're probably confused because eddie plays the intro like 30 BPM slower than the rest of the song so there's an awkward leap in tempo when the band kicks in... or in this case, the band in his head :)
Been trying to figure this one out for awhile now, especially the bridge/solo part. No idea if you read these comments but I'm curious about one of the videos that shows a close-up of the fretboard on the solo part and it looks like he's bending the D string...I think. REQUESTS: All how Ed plays them acoustic live! Corduroy Unthought Known acoustic Sheraton Gibson The Seeker Masters of War Poor Girl Nothingman (not sure he does this one but still) Not For You Sorry if any of these are already posted, I am a new subscriber so I'll go back and check.
What's up Tres! I've actually done a video about a particular live version of porch and while it wasn't my intention to get super into the solo I got sucked into it and got rather into it - but the solo would be different each of the 416,978 times PJ plays it. Thanks for your other requests, i've added them to THE LIST for future consideration :)
but yes I would suggest searching song titles and my name or perusing the PJ playlist, I think you'll find I've touched on many of those things, and most of the time how eddie plays it solo is the same as how PJ plays it. And welcome to the party new friend :)
Definitely one of those mind boggling how he sings and plays it moments. Simple enough riff...but something about it just messes with the head.
in fairness to the rest of us, Eddie missed a bunch of rhythms in that performance as well. it's a tricky one to sing over

that unplugged might be the best concert of all time ever. Thanks Meska :)
@@RyanLendt i must have watched it dozen of times. nirvana or alice in chains unplugged also come close
That’s kinda what I been looking for!
For the record, love all your stuff (just a wee bit partial to acoustic/campfire lessons😬)
Join the club. I’m the camp fire king because of Ryan
next time i hit burger king for an impossible whopper I'm gonna see if they'll let me take TWO crowns for you guys :)

Man I gotta post again. This was too cool thanks

This video made me realise that I've always switched to 3/4 time when it goes into the G-shaped walk, which I'm not sure why I've been doing :)

So you using the capo as locking tuner?🤔
check out thalia capos :)
If it was a little warmer than 20 degrees Fahrenheit out on the porch we could do Porch out there instead of in here by the wood stove.
i've been thinking it would be funny in the winter to go outside in summer clothes and see if I can get through a lesson
