I visited HK recently I got the same feeling he's talking about. The neon signs are the first thing that just capture you it's amazing. There's always a glow to everyone. It's so romantic. I've been to other Asian countries but HK is just different.
I personally think that "Fallen Angels" is even better than "Chungking Express". Especially visually due to Doyle's cinematography + I prefer contract killers over police officers. They are more mysterious characters.
I feel like in so many films we see hit men being presented as mysterious. I kind of like how Anderson showed shops employees, air hostesses and police men as dark and mysterious. Both films are beautiful

yeah, recently I've been really into shoe gaze and also fell in love with Wong Kar Wai's films. I think he would love shoegaze.

This man was just as responsible as Wong Kar Wai, if not more, for the moving looking so beautiful.
