Anna enakku oru doubt, I was thinking about the RPM of some motor, then I Googled it, I got the answer as revolution per minute. I can understand that earth is rotating on its axis and revolving around the sun. Now my doubt is why motors have RPM abbreviated as Revolution Per Minute instead of Rotation per minute cause the motor only rotates on its own axis right but not revolves around something.

Harish S Hi! RPM doesn't necessarily mean revolution per minute it can also mean rotation per minute. It depends on what perspective the acronym was used.
