When you said "Physical manifestation of 6 years of work" & "That's my book", Everyone of us can see that overwhelming feeling on your face, we are happy for you 😃😃
Allow me to say, its almost your third baby took physical manifestation after 6 years of your devotion upon "her".
I wish this would be the bestseller of all times since people need such grassroot material (pure love for physics exactly like those Legends who used to love it, nothing else ) like your videos and now this book, which we can't find in the libraries by big scholars.
Thanks for your valuable contribution to our society !!!

Librarian here. I really think that the historical context is vital in the teaching of sciences. Not all of us are gifted with a scientific mindset, or have had the education as to grasp how advanced equations work, but everybody can understand narration. Storytelling was and still is culture even before writing existed. Our minds get and retain stories easily; that's why fandoms exist 😁
Congratulations on your achievement. That high school loss was our gain. 👏👏👏

Thank you. I’m trying my best to make sure that my book gets in to libraries I want people to be able to read this even if they can’t afford a book. And every time I go to the library and blown away by how amazing libraries are and librarians are. thank you for all you do libraries are the best!! ❤️❤️❤️

I am a big fan of your channel. What you do is unique and important. Traditional science is taught to students one unrelated fact at a time in the most uninspiring manner. One more generation of students lost to the beauty of science, and having a meaningful career solving the difficult problems plaguing the world. I was fortunate to have enough excellent teachers so that the passion to learn science never left me. Your videos show the controversy of science one video at a time as people struggle to understand our world. Even the best and brightest seem to have had one bad idea for every 2 good ones. Then the next generation comes along and makes new progress. I guess as Max Planck said, "science makes progress one funeral at a time". In my own small way I am trying to make progress and publish papers in my own specialty. Everything is always controversial and that tension is normal and healthy. It has been a fun ride, and your channel really shows this plus the human side as well.
I hope your book is a best seller. For those looking for another technical writer with an engaging style, check anything by Paul Nahin. In particular, his book "Hot Molecules, Cold Electrons" is heavy in math (Fourier series and partial differential equations) but has lots of history behind the 'Age of the Earth Problem' and the building of the trans-Atlantic cable in the 19th century. If you are proficient in first year calculus it is manageable. He also has written a biography of Oliver Heaviside. To say that man was a difficult genius is an understatement.

Hello Kathy, firstly greetings from city of Wroclaw
in Poland, my hometown, where Amazon printed your book.
I am delighted to see "The Lightning Tamers" finally
published. I have observed your channel for years and
    recommended it to many.
As a home school teacher to my four children I have
always wished to bring closer the times when those
    groundbreaking historical experiments were made.
Learning how one discovery led to another, knowing
the background stories, the "behind the scenes" details,
all of it brings to life those times and the people
whom we owe so much for progress in science and quality
of life that we enjoy today.
Children and students are taught science at schools
and universities largely in disregard to the process
of progression in understanding natural phenomena
and are given ready-made formulas to memorize, which
kills curiosity. That approach is so detrimental to real
understanding (and enjoying) science. Therefore, your book
is so important and fills in the void of publications
    of this kind.
I wonder though, why you have not mentioned in your
book Andreas Gordon, a Scottish Benedictine monk and
scholar, the author of "Phaenomena electricitatis
exposita" published in 1744. What was the reason you
did not give him any credit for important contribution
he had made for the advancement of the understanding
of electricity. Do you think he doesn't deserve some
    honorable mention, at least?
Do you know of work André Assis? He is a professor
of University of Campinas (UNICAMP), in Brazil.
He too, like you loves science and history and wrote
extensively on electricity rediscovering well known theories
and proposing alternative models to mainstream physics.
He brings back from obscurity, and in great detail, early
experiments all things electric. His books can be a great
companion and expansion of knowledge about those times
to anybody interested in the topic. In his research he
discusses long-held concepts and misconception of work
of great minds like Ampère. Great reads but on a steeper
    learning curve.
    1. The Experimental and Historical Foundations of Electricity
    2. The Experimental and Historical Foundations of Electricity
    3. Ampère's Electrodynamics Paperback
In Poland we name Jozef Herman Osinski, The Father of Polish
Electricity. He was a Piarist monk who published an important
book in 1784 "The Way of protecting Life and Property From
Lightning Strikes". Little is also known of connection of Ewald
Georg Kleist to Poland whom you mention in your book.
He lived in back-then Prussian town, Kamien Pomorski
(Pomeranian Stone) in today's northern Poland. He reported
all his findings to Societas Physicae Experimentalis in Gdansk,
where many of experiments and research about electricity
    took place.
Had Kleist been more famous, we would have today "Pomeranian Jar",
not the "Layden Jar", since, as you know, he first prototyped
the apparatus to store electrostatic charge in a glass bottle,
long before Jean-Antoine Nollet made business out of it
selling "Layden Jars" to aristocratic aficionados of electricity.
Unfortunately, the times when knowledge of electricity expanded
rapidly, Poland was under occupation of Russia, Prussia and
Austro-Hungarian empire and practice of science was either not
on minds of struggling for survival Polish people or it was
appropriated by oppressive powers. Luckily Maria Sklodowska-Curie
managed to leave Poland and made unparalleled career in France,
as a scientist and a woman.
I wish you Kathy all the best in your endeavors of popularization
    of science through history.

Thank you for your historical series on science events related to this era. Many people think it all happened out of thin air of pure theory and math, but the events and relations between people was foundational for the results of all that effort.

I just bought your book (July 2023) and am looking forward to reading it, as I have thoroughly enjoyed your UA-cam videos. I have a degree in physics (PhD in high energy physics from CWRU). My thesis was “Single Particle Production in K-n Interactions at 5 BeV/c with a Visible Λ or K” (1970). The experiment was performed at Brookhaven National Laboratory’s Alternating Gradient Synchrotron, employing the 80-inch Deuterium-filled Bubble Chamber.

Yours is going to be one of the few nonfiction books that I feel I need to have in my library thank you for presenting physics in historical context and so clearly explained.
