She is ADORABLE!
@@muttleycrew A well chosen word
When you said "Physical manifestation of 6 years of work" & "That's my book", Everyone of us can see that overwhelming feeling on your face, we are happy for you 😃😃
Allow me to say, its almost your third baby took physical manifestation after 6 years of your devotion upon "her".
I wish this would be the bestseller of all times since people need such grassroot material (pure love for physics exactly like those Legends who used to love it, nothing else ) like your videos and now this book, which we can't find in the libraries by big scholars.
Thanks for your valuable contribution to our society !!!
Thank you. Yeah, I’m shocked I managed anything aside from “wow oh cool”. 🤣
Librarian here. I really think that the historical context is vital in the teaching of sciences. Not all of us are gifted with a scientific mindset, or have had the education as to grasp how advanced equations work, but everybody can understand narration. Storytelling was and still is culture even before writing existed. Our minds get and retain stories easily; that's why fandoms exist 😁
Congratulations on your achievement. That high school loss was our gain. 👏👏👏
Thank you. I’m trying my best to make sure that my book gets in to libraries I want people to be able to read this even if they can’t afford a book. And every time I go to the library and blown away by how amazing libraries are and librarians are. thank you for all you do libraries are the best!! ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Kathy, every high school student taking physics should have a teacher like you! My physics teacher was full of energy, and made the course fun, but your personality is over the top! I will be buying your book, and kudos for the hard work that goes into writing a book. Love the videos, keep them coming!
My best teachers were the ones who loved what they were doing and also liked the students.
Your school's loss was our gain. I am so happy to have you as my teacher(and I am a 70 year old retiree). I can't wait to read your new book. Keep them coming, Kathy.
We know you're not faking it. That's one of the great things about you is that your excitement clearly shows through and is highly infectious. Congratulations on your book. I'll have to get it.
I think this is what it looks like when passion, talent and opportunity meet. An explosion of sincere joy and happiness. You managed to keep it dry, I didn’t. Thank you so much for all the work and preserving these wonderful stories accessible in a format for the next generation.
My goodness what a lovely compliment. Now I am having trouble “keeping it dry”. Thank you.
I love your enthusiasm no matter the subject and I’m very happy for your professional success! I’ve learned a lot from you. 😊
Happy to see this finally materialize, and i cannot wait for the next books!
Thank you so much Kathy we appreciate it.
Kathy, you are an absolute delight. Thank you so much for sharing this moment with us. I still remember opening my first book - it is an amazing experience! I even went down to Barnes & Noble & took a picture of it on the shelf! Congratulations!
John, I am very much looking forward to the thought of taking my picture with my book on an actual bookshelf in a book store! I am so looking forward to giving a talk about it at your museum.
Congratulations, Cathy, on achieving this hard-earned milestone! Your energy, enthusiasm, and fantastic story telling abilities have captivated many by opening a door to a whole new way of thinking about the era of scientific discovery. These stories are so exciting and, in some ways, mind-blowing. Those of us who relish science and history are eager to share this cathartic experience with you so I'm certain this is just the beginning of your authorship. I look forward to reading your book and I'm still binge watching your videos!
I love Kathys videos, epic how I’m gonna be able to access all that info in a single book. Epic Teacher 🔥🔥🔥
Congratulations!
I love the way you teach science history, it's been wonderful to listen and watch all of your videos.
I'm sure many people feel the same.
Congratulations! Will be ordering a copy of your book; I love your videos. You seem like you were a great school teacher who is passionate about your subjects--I'm glad you're still teaching on youtube.
Congratulations! I've spent a lot of time thinking about the mathematics of physics, but not much time thinking about physics history, so your videos have been great for helping me repair that imbalance. I love your enthusiasm for the subject too.
Thanks, I’m having so much fun and I’m glad you are enjoying my efforts.
Hi Kathy Madam.
I m really very happy for you.
The way you was sharing your excitement about book with us is like a happy child.
I will get your book.
You are my teacher.
Take care madam.
Sad that the school didn’t take you back. An student lucky enough to have you as a teacher is a real physics student, researcher, professor, professional, or hobbyist in the making. You are very similar to my high school physics teacher - enlightening and engaging!
Yours is the first book I pre-ordered on Amazon. I'm sure it will be as good as your videos - which are amazing. Thanks very much for all your work exposing the fascinating history of physics, and your wonderful delivery of it.
Amazon delivered my copy of The Lightning Tamers on Sunday. I finally put it down Monday afternoon after I finished reading it.
I’m going to have to buy it just because you’re so emotional about your work! Anyone this passionate about a science subject deserves encouragement.
Your naked enthusiasm had me hooked when I stumbled across your Kathy Loves Electricity. Of course we ALL love Kathy. Pleas don’t stop proving videos even though you are a published author.
Congratulations! I can't wait to read it! I enjoy your videos and always learn something new.
There's almost no better feeling than to stare at one of your works made manifest. Enjoy!
Your joy is infectious Kathy keep smiling!
BRAVO! Kathy loves physics and we love Kathy. Can't wait to get my copy.
Congratulations. I have pre-ordered it without hesitation. Your enthusiasm is infectious :)
Congratulations Kathy.
Just found your UA-cam channel today, very interesting and entertaining.
I have just finished a book called "A Short History of Nearly Everything" by Bill Bryson and loved it for the background information and and personality he added to telling a board story of scientific discovery in the universe we find ourselves in.
The way you describe your book and going by the few videos I have so far watched, I'm thinking your book will be my next read.
I don’t think I’ve ever experienced as much joy watching a UA-cam video as this one. I’ve practically fallen in love with you. I am so thankful the UA-cam algorithm gods put your Deep Dive historical response video to the Veritasium video in my feed. Otherwise I never would have known about you and this channel. And now I know a Christmas gift to give ton myself.
Congrats and well done. No need to apologise for doing what you love. I will order it presently. By the way, your excitement is infectious. Enjoy!
Hi Kathy. I'm very happy to have stumbled upon your channel. For whatever reason, I also have a special place in my heart for the pioneers of electricity. I like your mix of historical narrative, drama, and scientific geekery. I am enjoying your videos immensely and have just purchased your book. Really looking forward to reading it. Thanks for all your hard work and the great content you put out.
I love watching and listening to people who so obviously love what they do. And you are one of these people Kathy.
Congratulations Kathy! I hope to get to read some of your writing! I'm a geek myself, always have been, but mainly through my hobby of amateur (ham) radio the past 26 years and nowadays and I'm fascinated by all things electronic, super heterodyne receivers, and now DMR software defined radios! It just amazes me what SDR will get out of the noise you could never hear otherwise thanks to the new computer modes like FT8 and FT4. I do still enjoy International Morse Code as well! "Very 73" = hamspeak for "Very Best Regards from Cliff, KU4GW"
😊ordered your book. Love ypur u tube videos learning alot as an electrician in uk 15yrs.
Enjoyed the histrory and your books on the way 😊🎉 x
Hi Kathy, Congratulations to you for having your book published! What a wonderful testament to your passion. I will get a copy myself as I have totally enjoyed your videos.
Good for you Kathy, i found your story so interesting. You deserve this. Well done... 🍀
I am a big fan of your channel. What you do is unique and important. Traditional science is taught to students one unrelated fact at a time in the most uninspiring manner. One more generation of students lost to the beauty of science, and having a meaningful career solving the difficult problems plaguing the world. I was fortunate to have enough excellent teachers so that the passion to learn science never left me. Your videos show the controversy of science one video at a time as people struggle to understand our world. Even the best and brightest seem to have had one bad idea for every 2 good ones. Then the next generation comes along and makes new progress. I guess as Max Planck said, "science makes progress one funeral at a time". In my own small way I am trying to make progress and publish papers in my own specialty. Everything is always controversial and that tension is normal and healthy. It has been a fun ride, and your channel really shows this plus the human side as well.
I hope your book is a best seller. For those looking for another technical writer with an engaging style, check anything by Paul Nahin. In particular, his book "Hot Molecules, Cold Electrons" is heavy in math (Fourier series and partial differential equations) but has lots of history behind the 'Age of the Earth Problem' and the building of the trans-Atlantic cable in the 19th century. If you are proficient in first year calculus it is manageable. He also has written a biography of Oliver Heaviside. To say that man was a difficult genius is an understatement.
Her book is an Amazon best seller already in "History of Science and Medicine" category!
Be blessed Kathy and stay healthy for giving us more videos, books and science enthusiasm.
Hello Kathy, firstly greetings from city of Wroclaw
in Poland, my hometown, where Amazon printed your book.
I am delighted to see "The Lightning Tamers" finally
published. I have observed your channel for years and
recommended it to many.
As a home school teacher to my four children I have
always wished to bring closer the times when those
groundbreaking historical experiments were made.
Learning how one discovery led to another, knowing
the background stories, the "behind the scenes" details,
all of it brings to life those times and the people
whom we owe so much for progress in science and quality
of life that we enjoy today.
Children and students are taught science at schools
and universities largely in disregard to the process
of progression in understanding natural phenomena
and are given ready-made formulas to memorize, which
kills curiosity. That approach is so detrimental to real
understanding (and enjoying) science. Therefore, your book
is so important and fills in the void of publications
of this kind.
I wonder though, why you have not mentioned in your
book Andreas Gordon, a Scottish Benedictine monk and
scholar, the author of "Phaenomena electricitatis
exposita" published in 1744. What was the reason you
did not give him any credit for important contribution
he had made for the advancement of the understanding
of electricity. Do you think he doesn't deserve some
honorable mention, at least?
Do you know of work André Assis? He is a professor
of University of Campinas (UNICAMP), in Brazil.
He too, like you loves science and history and wrote
extensively on electricity rediscovering well known theories
and proposing alternative models to mainstream physics.
He brings back from obscurity, and in great detail, early
experiments all things electric. His books can be a great
companion and expansion of knowledge about those times
to anybody interested in the topic. In his research he
discusses long-held concepts and misconception of work
of great minds like Ampère. Great reads but on a steeper
learning curve.
1. The Experimental and Historical Foundations of Electricity
2. The Experimental and Historical Foundations of Electricity
3. Ampère's Electrodynamics Paperback
In Poland we name Jozef Herman Osinski, The Father of Polish
Electricity. He was a Piarist monk who published an important
book in 1784 "The Way of protecting Life and Property From
Lightning Strikes". Little is also known of connection of Ewald
Georg Kleist to Poland whom you mention in your book.
He lived in back-then Prussian town, Kamien Pomorski
(Pomeranian Stone) in today's northern Poland. He reported
all his findings to Societas Physicae Experimentalis in Gdansk,
where many of experiments and research about electricity
took place.
Had Kleist been more famous, we would have today "Pomeranian Jar",
not the "Layden Jar", since, as you know, he first prototyped
the apparatus to store electrostatic charge in a glass bottle,
long before Jean-Antoine Nollet made business out of it
selling "Layden Jars" to aristocratic aficionados of electricity.
Unfortunately, the times when knowledge of electricity expanded
rapidly, Poland was under occupation of Russia, Prussia and
Austro-Hungarian empire and practice of science was either not
on minds of struggling for survival Polish people or it was
appropriated by oppressive powers. Luckily Maria Sklodowska-Curie
managed to leave Poland and made unparalleled career in France,
as a scientist and a woman.
I wish you Kathy all the best in your endeavors of popularization
of science through history.
I am so happy for you, Kathy. My preorder is in and i am waiting with bait on my breath... no, no, no... I am waiting with baited breath for it to arrive. I love that you love what I love.

Thank you so much Jax. I am so honored to be part of your science journey - it means a lot.
Gosh I loved your enthusiasm. You have done do well at invigorating our approach to the sciences. I am remembering how full of wonder I was as a kid, learning and discovering the sciences, both in and out of school. Thank you!
Preordered mine! Thanks for your excellent videos, looking forward to reading the book!
It's always exciting when having a book made. I used to put them together for gifts even if I didn't get a lot of them reproduced. Thank you for your historical series on science events related to this era. Many people think it all happened out of thin air of pure theory and math, but the events and relations between people was foundational for the results of all that effort.
Compliments for the book!
By the title, I was expecting a prevalence of blue and violet colours on the cover of the book (most of my books on history of electricity have Blue colour scheme), but I was pleasantly surprised to see the colours of other end of the light spectrum!
Once more,
Auguri...
Anthony

I just bought your book (July 2023) and am looking forward to reading it, as I have thoroughly enjoyed your UA-cam videos. I have a degree in physics (PhD in high energy physics from CWRU). My thesis was “Single Particle Production in K-n Interactions at 5 BeV/c with a Visible Λ or K” (1970). The experiment was performed at Brookhaven National Laboratory’s Alternating Gradient Synchrotron, employing the 80-inch Deuterium-filled Bubble Chamber.
