What a great find on UA-cam, .. i watched Ivan ride many times at my home track at Blunsdon Abbey Stadium, home of the Swindon Robins in England. He had many a battle with his fellow New Zealander and local hero for me Barry Briggs, Ivan was the one guy who seemed to get the better of Barry who was practically unbeatable on his home track. Thanks for this upload stu.
RIP Ivan absolute legend, my oldest cusan Jeff Mott great mate an fellow racer , they both had a exbition race Gold Coast speedway about 2006 , with some A,B riders which where blown away of their talent at 65 yrold, still full throttle, legend, sadly I missed the action.

The first rider to win both the Individual and Long Track World titles in the same year (1972). 2 time New Zealand Champion. 2 time Australasian Champion. 3 time Australasian Grand Prix winner. 4 Australian State championships (Qld, WA and 2 in Victoria). Scottish Open Champion, Australian and New Zealand Long Track Champion. For around 20 years from the early-mid 60s to the early-mid 80s when he was in semi-retirement, Maguer was the man to beat in world speedway. About the only major race he never won was the Golden Helmet of Pardubice. Others have won more overall World titles across the different speedway competitions (Hans Nielsen won 22 to Mauger's 15) and Tony Rickardsson matched his 6 Individual titles. But there has been none better than Ivan Mauger.
Still think he should have won the1973 final,a unknown polish rider beat him in a run off for the tittle.meet him once a very nice man had time for everyone
I wonder if Ray remember's Oakfield Avenue ? I used to call them both Ivan uncle Ivan and Aunty Ray. I was only 5. They lived on the same road on the corner. Late 60's Chorlton, Manchester. Mike Parker had offices just down the road. My mum Dot was best friends with Ray, my Dad used to weld Ivan's steel shoe. Ivan was so skint when he first came over my Dad let him decorate for us.. lol . Hope Kimi, Deb and Julie are well..I used to play with Ivan's kid's too. Man, seems a thousand year's ago now in 2019. I grew up to love motorcycles and Speedway too.

I used to be a fan of Swindon Robins. Barry Briggs was there at the time Ivan rode for Bell Vue They were great times They were both great Riders.
my oldest speedway memory is ivan the week after he won in 1971 ,he was on the tractor with the trophy for a parade lap at hackney stadium
