It’s sad, that an authority figure has to teach common human decency to crowd of students who are supposed to be the future, some of whom would laugh at someone struggling. When coming forward that you are struggling can be the bravest thing one can do.
I am an Indian undergrad student living in Canada for the past year and a half. I knew absolutely nobody here when I first came, I arrived here when I was 19 and I attended university, I worked part-time and ran the entire rented house (cleaning, laundry, cooking, dish-washing etc) all by myself! I've had to walk to work every day (5km to and from work) in temperatures like -35 degrees Celcius. Through all these hardships I've come to realize the other side of life, the side where you learn the hard way - through difficulties, and trust me, as painful as it can be, it is also simply beautiful. Beyond all my personal hardships, I feel privileged and think of those individuals who are in situations much worse than mine. I surely think it's important to be happy but getting through hard times is when you get better as an individual!
