I loved Pigeon Street as a kid. It's so gentle and sweet.

IT's not often you see a charming show produced about life in the inner city. Pigeon Street seems unique for that.

@Jeet27 heah for sure! Watching this at 30 puts about the last 25 years into perspective. Finally I have explained my love of bright coloured flares and pidgeons ;)

Heh heh, when I was a child we actually knew a Reg who was married to a Doreen, however I don't *think* they did ballroom dancing, I could be wrong though ...

I've just realised that 3rd and Bird on CBBC is an attempt to recreate this classic...

I remember George Layton's voice from the Story Teller Book and Tape issues we used to buy in the 80s. He narrated and voiced a character story line called Timbertiwg. Loved it.

What's so sad and indecent about shows today is how lacklustre and meaningless that they've become thus making way for these nonsense reality shows that bear no interest whatsoever.
No wonder everyone wants to return to a time when all was promising, prosperous and above all educational than now.
    80's please return!

There's a lot of rubbish on TV now for sure, but let's not whitewash the past, eh? TV in the 80s was totally criticised too. There was a huge amount of junk on TV then as well. If you read any old news articles from the 80s, it's full of criticism for poor quality programmes and repeats. It's very definitely not "everyone" who wants to go back to the 80s. The people who do say things like that tend to have been kids back then, and look back on the 80s with the naive eyes of a child. The 80s were actually pretty grim for the most part. But it's like they say, "the older we get, the better we imagine the past was".

@th8257 It's about weighing Pros & Cons. Yes, there was some fairly odd stuff during the 80s, I didn't dig certain programs and shows myself at that time and still don't to this day.
However, there was far better variety of what was on on offer that time compared to now that many wouldn't bother watching at all next to Yesterday's offering.

I remember it as, and it still is, a load of left-wing bollocks.
