Thanks! This is exactly the information I was looking for, regarding this source.

The one for S&W is the most complete. There are books for other manufacturers but the authors didn't research as much as they did for the Smiths.

any way you would mail a copy of page 327 to me to go with this gun i bought? This Lew Horton Special Edition is listed in The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson 696, 4th Edition on page 327.

I should get this book. I have a S&W revolver, Model 66 (no dash) with stainless steel front sight (no red insert) and SS rear sight, and the newer gas ring configuration on the cylinder that was supposedly only available on the 66-1 and subsequent models. A UA-cam "expert" and Wikipedia both describe my gun inaccurately, as a first run 66 (because of the sights) with the original gas ring. I know my gun is not "one of a kind" because I have seen another revolver with the identical configuration as mine, with serial numbers miles apart; mine is "2KXXXXX" , the other is "4KXXXXXX". Can you provide any insight into this situation?

I just got my book too a couple days ago. Very nice. I do wish there were mor pictures of various models but it's a great reference guide. Mine is also 4th Ed.

The 4th Ed is the most current edition. There are also standard editions for the other manufactures but not as extensive as this one.
