THIS is why I bought a Moog Matriarch [Matriarch and Eurorack, Pt. 1]

  • As inspiring as it is on its own, I bought my Moog Matriarch specifically for its semi-modular capabilities. I envisioned placing it in front of my eurorack system, and I haven't been disappointed. Today I'm exploring using an external sequencer (Eloquencer) to sequence each of the 4 oscillators independently.

    Ooooooh that patch is gorgeous!! You made my face contort in funny ways hearing 7:25 onward. those lower left hand notes brought this patch to life. Excellent programming, thank you for the treat!

    Very nice patch! I've got the same Pittsburgh case and a Matriarch too, but I rarely cross patch them. Looking forward to where you go with this. Cheers! :)

    Really interesting. I have yet to combine the Matriarch into the modular (what I have of it) so this would be an awesome series yes please. Nice one.

    Thank you for the video and inspiration. I love my Matriarch, it’s a great instrument! Also, I did order an Iridium keyboard version. I can’t wait to layer these two together!
    I am so happy to get further away from tweeting in a computer screen. Hoping to get a workflow with push 2/ Abelton being my biggest computer interaction. I wish I had a 8 or 16 track recorder.

    Great video. I'm new(ish) to synths and just threw down for an Erik Needham Matriarch 6u eurorack extension. Still trying to design the rack (currently a DFAM, M32, Maths, Rings, and Metropolix) so there's around 100hp of space plus 150 of 1u rack space. This video has got me thinking of which modules I might want to use to sequence or modulate each oscillator.

    Man, Matriarch sure seems more and more tempting, watching your videos. A question: so when you press down a 4-note chord, three of the notes pressed are being changed by the sequencer by adding octaves/fifths/seconds ? Does that mean Eloquencer sequence has to be in the low octaves in order to keep the transpositions from going too high ?

    • @JamesonNathanJones
      @JamesonNathanJones  Рік тому +1

      You can determine the range within the Eloquencer, so it will play a set interval per step - although you can add some randomness if desired. Since it’s just cv controlling each oscillator’s pitch, the starting point will be determined by the tuning of each oscillator. Hope that helped :)

    An interesting point is how to interface eurorack with external audio without using something like Strymoon AA.1 or anything similar. It's possible to use the matriarch for this task? What are you using send signals from your eurorack system to your audio system? Sorry for my awful writing skills. Thanks in advance.

    • @JamesonNathanJones
      @JamesonNathanJones  Рік тому

      Eurorack levels are higher than line level (output of most synths and interfaces), so anything that can add enough gain to external signals without introducing noise will work. Several eurorack mixers can output back down to line levels. I use a Boredbrain Monitr for this. The Matriarch has eurorack level outputs in addition to standard line level outputs.

    Do you have the midi connected from the Matriarch into the midi eurorack module or from elsewhere?

    Any other suggestions besides eloquencer? Pams? I don't have a whole lot of hp left!

    • @JamesonNathanJones
      @JamesonNathanJones  Рік тому +1

      Hermod is a bit smaller and is packed with useful things (maybe too many). Pam’s would be a great choice too if you need something smaller. Also the Malekko Quad LFO is really underrated; even though it’s an lfo, you can record automation for every parameter and come up with interesting, sequence-like patterns.

      @@JamesonNathanJones interesting, i also have disting EX which i need to full explore (not had time of course) and the OCHD lfo(s) (which is soooo good)
