We were friends and jamming buddies for a couple of years when he lived in North Vancouver. Gabor was recording demos in a local studio and spending time on the phone with Todd Rundgren, talking over ideas for a third album. Later, a couple of my friends were lucky enough to go with him to Bearsville Studios and the tracks were recorded with Rundgren producing. No album was ever released but those final recordings sounded very good! He was a very gifted man who had his demons, but who doesn't..
Around this time I helped to run an FM pirate station and we tried really hard to get some interest in this guy. It fell on stony ground I'm sorry to say.
You were a friend of his? There's so little information out there. Nyet Nyet Soviet stayed in my head since I was 3, but I only just got an idea of who made it. Interesting guy.
My wedding song! ❤

If Mac Demarco didn't lift his sound from this song, I would be shocked.
Is there another version of this song ? I remember it sounding much deeper and richer without the dissonant sharp notes.
There is. It was apart of his third, unreleased album titled “Out of the Blue”
