This sounds SO much cooler than the nes version. Actually makes sense as a final level theme. Was still weird to hear it on the overhead level though, when the boss music for this stage played for the level in the nes.
The arcade version always seemed unfinished to me. The last level should NOT be an overhead, and it makes sense that the NES version added one last side-scrolling level.

Immensely better. The addition of a connecting bridge tells you, "You've been through past Contra missions, but the worst is yet to come." Although most players' experiences would vary. Except in Nightmare Mode. Now *THAT'S* a different alien beast to slay. 😅
NES was pretty impressive for the console, but it's pretty clear that its 5 channels still can't match the arcade's much fuller composition of 8 FM and 4 PCM channels
